my friends are at wdw this week and they are miserable. the waits are 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours and 10 minutes. they are getting one fast pass then waiting in one of the 1 and half lines then go ride the fast pass ride and so on...

I told them it would be sooo crowded this week! I hate it for them. I love disney and we go the 3rd week of October...no crowds at all!!!!

My brother and his family went last week and experienced big crowds as well. We tried to warn them about it, but they wouldn't listen. I guess it was their own fault. We also travel to WDW at much less crowded times and have a blast. My brother's kids also got tired out by 2 in the afternoon one day and had to leave...what a waste of a ticket! Guess we won't be traveling with them anytime soon...our travel philosophies don't mix! ::MinnieMo

Thank goodness people like to go this time of year. Means less people when I like to go!

We just got back last night. We were there from the 23rd until the 30th. It was VERY crowded. We did EE every morning, and had no waits until about 11 am. By then people were POURING into the parks. We were able to go on things multiple times in a row by doing EE. One morning my family was the only ones in Tommorrow Land for about 15 minutes. We utilzed Fast Pass, and planned our days so that we were able to do everything. The latest we left a park was 4 pm. It did seem like they were short on staff at a couple of places that we tried to eat. Like 1-2 people working with huge lines of people trying to get food. We had a GREAT time, but would avoid Spring Break like the plague. If given a choice I would rather fight the crowds at Christmas.

We also just returned. Super crowded but we arrived at MK at 7 and walked on everything. Left around noon and relaxed by the pool. You can do it...you just have to pace yourself. We took a nap one afternoon and went into the MK around 9:00 pm. Got on most rides quickly.

wow we were there last week 3/23-3/28 and I didnt think it was that crowded, but our wait times were not anywhere near what your friends are this week :confused3

Ah...'tis why we planned our trip for the week after the week after Easter! Leaving tomorrow night...back on 4/9. :wizard:

My thoughts exactly. We'll be there next week.

Me too! We leave the 5th and come home on the 9th... .Spontaneous trip!

DH's family is there now though....

My sister is there right now. She called today and said the place is very crowded, however they have been at the parks at 7am, stayed till 1 or 2 then head back to POFQ for a rest, then back at night. She said they are having a GREAT TIME!!!

Our family was there from the 22nd through 28th. (March)

It was WICKED crowded, but we had a great time because we planned. Basically, we read the advice books (Unofficial GUide) and subscribed to TourGuide Mike.

Common wisdom to from all sources, books, online etc:
1) Get to the park early, go on the popular and/or slow loading rides first. Get as much done before the crowds show as you can!
2) Avoid EMH parks like the plague during holidays (maybe even if you are staying onsite)
3) Get fastpasses as quickly as you can
4) Eat at "off" times
5) Get outa dodge during the afternoon when the parks are a mess... relax for a few hours, then go back in the evening when people start to leave
6) Get some key gems from TourGuide Mike (I found a couple there that I didn't see anywhere else and they REALLY made a difference.) It costs around $20 to subscribe to his site, but that is nothing compared to standing around with a couple kids in a line for an hour... we rode everything we wanted and our longest wait was 20 minutes, most were less than 10)
7) This tip is mine... if you go during a busy time, you almost gotta stay onsite or WEST of Disney or you will be in TERRIBLE traffic. We rented a Villa at Emerald Island resort. PERFECT. $135 per night plus tax and cleaning for a very nice 3 BR Villa with a full Kitchen. We hopped on Irlo Bronson and took the unmarked west entrance road to Disney (Sherbeth road I think) and got to Disney quickly. We went to some activities in other parts of Orlando a few days (Spring training baseball, Medieval times...) and the traffic was terrible. Stay WEST of Disney OR onsite if you can.

We followed this pattern and had a great time.

The recipe for disaster is to go to an EMH park at 10 am or later... do that and you are almost guaranteed a miserable time. If you want to sleep in on your vacation, you almost gotta go at another time of year.

I'm so jealous! We are going in Sept.; also went this past February. Crowds were nonexistent then as well.

I'll be there Saturday night, but considering I'm not much of a ride person, and I'm going solo, I should be able to manuever my way through the crowds without too much difficulty.. :flower:

headed for Wilderness Lodge this saturday April 2nd - 8th.

The easter and early spring break crowd should be gone.

I have a co-worker who went this week for the 1st time with her husband, 2 1/2 year old DD and 11 year old DS.. I just found out she was going when I got back from my trip on 3/12. I wanted her that the crowds would be insane... I tried giving her the best advice I could give, I hope they are having a good time!
