The Pirates League - Updates/Changes

As of Sunday, March 7th, The Pirates League operating hours changed from 9a-7p to 9a-4p.

Starting tomorrow, March 12th, The Pirates League will discontinue the Captain's Package; costumes can still be purchased for an additional cost with the First Mate or Empress Package.

The First Mate and Empress Packages will now cost $29.95.

The First Mate and Empress Package will no longer offer the map case folder or the 5x7 photo. These options can be added for an addition cost.

Guests will continue to have their portait taken in the Sacred Sanctorum, and if purchased at the League, they can also be added to a Photopass card through Exposition Hall or on-line.

NOTE: If a Guest does not purchase the photo at the League, the portraits cannot be added to Photopass.

My oldest daughter has an appointment there next month. While the time doesn't affect us I must admit that I'm a tad disappointed that the 5x7 photo will not be included in the Empress package. I'm sure tho the photo alone will more likely be in the 12-15 dollar package so the over all savings may not be all that significant.

It is not known for sure, but my assumption is that the NEW first mate/empress package will still include everything from before, just no portait and map case folder.

Does anyone know the cost of the costumes for boys? I also wonder how hot the costumes are if I should get one from home first?

Costume costs vary, the most expensive is $65 (Boney and Jack). I think the Buccaneer is about $55, but I'm not positive. The Maiden is $50 and I think Hook is around $45.

Just recieved word... the additional cost of the Portrait and Map Case Folder is $14.95.

I can confirm what Berlioz70 is saying about the changes. I just called Disney to confirm and the CM doubled checked the info and the price has certainly lowered and everything that Berlioz mentioned is still in the Empress and First Mate package except the photo. She could not confirm how much the photo would be tho. Now that I think about it I should have asked if in fact the Captain's Package would no longer be offered, sorry - I was so concerned with my daughter's package I wasn't even thinking. Something else she did mention was that there were new costumes for girls, but again I didn't ask because my 11yr old daughter would die if she had to wear a costume around MK - she's way to cool for that.

The changes won't make me cancel her appointment but I do feel like their forcing my hand with this whole taking away the photo.

Thanks Berlioz. I knew the cost would be in that price range. with taxes and such the new price with the addition of the photo is only a few dollars cheaper than the original price. However, for those who would like to do experience this and could careless about the photo it's a great save. Makes it much more affordable for families.

I just realized this... the only way to get the cipher is by purchasing the map case. There is a secret code on the Pirate Medallion, but without the cipher you cannot read it. Most kids probably will not notice, but wanted to give a heads up for those people who will care.

Do you have to make an appointment? I"m going first week of May and I really don't want to to make one because I don't know if my son will want to do it.

You're fine with a 4:00 appointment, the League itself stays open later, 4:00 is the last appointment time and is when they'll shut the front doors.

If you would like to have the experience at a certain time then I'd recommend an appointment because you never know when there will be a wait. However, if you're just sort of winging it you should be fine walking up.

If you do make an appointment, but your son decides he doesn't want to do it, go to the Quartermaster (front desk) and let the CM know. They will not charge you the $10 if your kid changes his/her mind. They charge the people who are no shows.

Thanks for the information. I wasnt told any of his except for the time change when I called on Sunday for Sept 3. I'm a little upset but I quess when you think about 30+15 will be cheaper then 50. Its Only 5 dollars by hey I have 3 kids so it looks like Im gonna save 15 dollars

The decision was just announced today so the people you talked with on Sunday would not have known about the changes.

We did the PL for our 3 boys in November, and it was great!!! Berlioz70-I'm pretty sure from your pics that you had my oldest DS. Just wanted to say GREAT JOB!!!! It was such a great experience, we can't wait to go back!

This is quite upsetting to me as I have my dh and ds booked for the 17th of THIS month. I have the Captain's package booked for both of them. Now I wonder if they will honor that.......are they no longer doing the make-up as well? My son wanted to go all out as Boney.......think I'll call them first thing in the morning!
