It was alot of fun and X is definitely trying to catch up to his older siblings in everything!
He won't let us forget that he's a "big boy" now!! :goodvibes

Now that we had trekked through Pirate Legends and Lore and the met up with The Blue Beast, it was time to cash in our magical Passes of Fast.
And magical they were as we soon shrunk down to the size of a child’s play thing before entering the fabled chest of Andy with wonder in our eyes.
Disney2009Pirates241.jpg

Expecting to see gold and riches beyond our imagination in this sacred chest, we instead found games of yesteryear.
Some which instilled the sense of pirate adventure in our souls..
Disney2009Pirates242a.jpg

And other toys which taught the importance of disguise and reinvention of one’s self – two traits any vagabond need learn very early on!
Disney2009Pirates243.jpg

With the Tramp in tow, we were escorted to a secret pathway bypassing the peasants waiting in line.
Here, we encountered a book of epic proportions.
This told the tale of the first PIrate eXploration AdventuRe. ;)
Disney2009Pirates246a.jpg

We were led to a station of sorts and waited.
A set of vehicles finally approached and we all boarded – Lady with the Tramp, The Maiden with our Princess and X, and Me with me First Mate.
We were then provided some specialty lenses.
I hoped they were designed to better catch a glimpse of the riches that lay deeper in this wondrous chest of Andy’s.
Disney2009Pirates245.jpg

I donned my lenses as well and opted to focus on the task at hand.
Almost without warning, we were jerked into a whirlwind of foes.
From every side, the invasion continued as the protectors of Andy’s treasure appeared in force!
They were determined to protect something of immense value which only led to increase our desires!
Disney2009Pirates247.jpg

We were armed only with a pull string which launched anything from darts to balls to hoops.
Argh – at one point we were literally throwing kitchen plates at the enemy – it was all we had left!
We fought on valiantly but I feared we would soon be Shark Bait as the armada of magical creatures did not cease.
Our vehicle rocked us back and forth and whirled us around.
It was to keep our trigger fingers steady but we pressed on firing the canons all the way.

Finally we were face to face with the Sheriff and Ranger of these parts.
Our eyes locked and then we unleaded our vengeance with no quarter!
Pirates pirate: ATTACK!!!
We’ll keelhaul these men of the law and feed them to the kraken!
As ye may have guessed, we made it out alive but with no pieces of eight to add to our booty.
The best we were offered was a tally of foes vanquished and I reigned supreme.
The First Mate was crushed as his score did not compete with his captain’s but we pointed out that he fared better than Lady and the Tramp.
This didn’t seem to ease his mind.
But I knew what might – a chance to meet those lawmen face to face!
Lady and the Tramp decided to venture elsewhere and we made a pact to rendezvous at another galley in this great land.
Me and me crew, however, crossed the roadway and ventured into the lair of the Sheriff and the Ranger – we shall have our vengeance!

Nice update Mike :thumbsup2

We absolutely love TSM, however we did not get to ride this trip due to poor timing , long lines and late arrivals :( Oh well there's always next time !

Can't wait to see the pictures of your meeting w/ Buzz & Woody popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

Thanks! I had fun with that one.
And this one... ;)

Inside the depths of this vile place, we were in great spirits as we marched to meet our fate.
Disney2009Pirates248a.jpg

The Sheriff and Ranger of the Chest were to be reckoned with, to be sure, but they had met their match with us.
And it seemed they were worried as they had laid out traps to prevent us from reaching them.
Still the size of a child’s plaything, this path would be treacherous but we would prevail!
Sail Ho Me Hearties!

A strange vehicle was erected with which to blast us off to parts unknown.
Not to be denied, the Pirate Princess was the first to check it out.
Disney2009Pirates249.jpg

After disabling the controls and making sure it was safe for the crew, others joined her in search of some loose doubloons.
Disney2009Pirates250.jpg

Of course, there were none to be found and we wandered further on the marked path in search of our foes.
The next trap had us moving through a sea of green alien creatures;
all the while avoiding a giant claw meant to seal our fates and send us to Davy Jones’ Locker.
The First Mate was not deterred however, and made it through triumphantly!
Disney2009Pirates252.jpg

Little X, on the other hand, was almost lost to us as the green creatures engulfed him and would not let go.
It took all of the crew’s might to pull him to safety.
Disney2009Pirates254.jpg

Avast, me hearties – be alert in the Crow’s Nest – there be trouble ahead.
And trouble there be!
Before we knew it, the First Mate and X were captured by the dread Pirate Sid! pirate:
It seemed they were destined to walk the plank.
Disney2009Pirates253.jpg

But the evil Sid would not be content with just the plank – he wanted pure destruction.
He quickly grabbed X and strapped him to an ancient Chinese Pirate Lord’s explosion device!
Disney2009Pirates255.jpg

Shiver me timbers! We had to act fast.
Avast that rocket before it explodes taking our littlest crewman with it!
Heave Ho me hearties!
With seconds to spare, we released our crewman only to come face to face with another evil foe!
The Demon Zurg was lying in wait armed with a rifle of sorts and he was targeting our First Mate!
Disney2009Pirates256.jpg

Once again, the crew sprang to action knocking him aside and saving his life.
Cautiously, we pressed on.
The next ambush waiting for us was devious indeed.
Before we could relish our victory over the Demon Lord Zurg, the Pirate Princess and X were trapped!
Packaged neatly along with Stinky Pete the Prospector, our crewmates were stuck indeed.
Disney2009Pirates259.jpg

The First Mate flew into action cutting them loose with some fancy sword work.
However, the swashbuckler only succeeded so far as with their release, for he was caught in the same snare.
Disney2009Pirates260.jpg

This time it was up to me as I wrangled him loose.
Heaving deep breaths, we took stock of our surroundings.
It seems we had entered the Sheriff’s trophy room.
Homages to his exploits and the villains he’s captured over the years lined the walls.
Mark me words – we shall not be added to this list!
Disney2009Pirates261.jpg

Next we found his place of business.
The Sheriff’s office itself.
Disney2009Pirates262.jpg

Teasing the constable, we took turns posing in front of it – mocking him.
First the Pirate Princess with X:
Disney2009Pirates266.jpg

And then the First Mate
Disney2009Pirates267.jpg

Next stop on the path led us to a box.
We thought this may be yet another trap but needed to explore.
X and the Pirate Princess jumped in first and looked around but found no booty.
Disney2009Pirates268.jpg

Our First Mate did a cursory check as well but to no avail
Disney2009Pirates270.jpg

Scrolling the area, I found some of the cohorts of the Sheriff and the Ranger hiding above.
They would not be catching us!
Disney2009Pirates271.jpg

Then we rounded a corner and came face to face with one of our arch enemies.
While the Sheriff was nowhere to be found, the Ranger was there standing on Andy’s Bed waiting for us!
Disney2009Pirates272.jpg

Buzz Lightyear was the Ranger’s name and he first attacked our Pirate Princess.
Disney2009PiratesPass116.jpg

Next, he turned his attention to the First Mate!
Disney2009Pirates273.jpg

I soon arrived with little X in tow.
X was intrigued by the buttons that adorned the Ranger’s futuristic armour.
Disney2009Pirates274-0.jpg

But X would not take his eyes off the Ranger fearing some deadly trick.
Disney2009PiratesPass126.jpg

He even antagonized the Ranger poking at his face and egging him on!
Disney2009PiratesPass128.jpg

And finally they both called out to the Maiden at once pointing straight at her!
Disney2009Pirates274-3.jpg

After a quick distraction by our Maiden, we bolted for the door and out into the open.
However, our trials were not complete.
What was waiting for us outside?
Stay aboard mateys for magical mists and engine roars that bring little X to tears!

What great pictures! I love all the photo ops in the queue! :goodvibes

Yeah, it actually kept us interested while we waited in line.
Unfortunately, with the "lair" so close to the attraction, crowds are pretty bad over there.

Guarding the outside of the lair were the Green Men of Justice themselves!
The First Mate was first on the scene and entered into a contest of strength with the challenger.
Disney2009Pirates275.jpg

Next, the Pirate Princess and X engaged the trooper.
With a thumbs up, it was clear he was no match for the Capells!
Disney2009Pirates278a.jpg

And with that, we were off.
Down the streets and deeper into these Studios we ventured.
Still feeling the miniaturizing effects of this Pixar enchantment, we next encountered a large soda bottle spraying passers by.
The Pirate Princess took off at once given the possibility of refreshment on this sunny day.
Temperatures today rivaled that of the hottest islands of the Caribbean!
Disney2009Pirates279.jpg

Around the corner we pressed on and, it seems, we had exceeded the boundaries of the enchantment.
We were restored to our rightful sizes just as we encountered even more sorcery.
Our Pirate Princess had found the umbrella of legend.
Disney2009Pirates281.jpg

Recall how she recognized it in the Great Pirate Ride as she danced the royal ballet to the very song sung underneath this magical item.
So she began to pose and sing and dance and the sorcery unfolded.
Water rained down from out of nowhere and refreshed the princess even more.
Will the wonders of this Mouse never cease?
Disney2009Pirates280.jpg

But with the magical mist spewing forth, little X had to partake so he grabbed the Maiden and forced her under the wondrous umbrella.
Disney2009Pirates284.jpg

The First Mate, however, was unsure.
He waited until the area cleared and tried the magic himself.
Always the engineer, he decided this was not magic at all but well placed levers creating the illusion of magic.
Clever lad - I didn’t promote him to my First Mate for nothing after all.
So the future Imagineer tried out the invention himself to prove his theories.
Disney2009Pirates286.jpg

Now, fully refreshed we decided to move on.
As we rounded the corner, a familiar sound could be heard in the distance.
Twas the hum of an engine – and a specific one at that.
X recognized the noise instantly and bolted in the direction of his red-painted hero.
For X was a landlubber at heart.
Alas, he was a member of me crew but he dreamed of sailing not on the seas but the roads.
He was enamored by these new fangled contraptions called automobiles which tales said could leave the speediest of ships in their dust.
We would just have to see and now seemed the right time to do so!

I missed the green guys at every turn. I was very bummed that not only did I miss my opportunity to salute, I also completely spaced the umbrella- even though it was way up on my list. Arrrgh.

I also couldn't remember where the famous Umbrella was !!!Now I know THANKS!!! Great pix and uopsdate as usual me hearties !!!:lmao:

The umbrella pictures are all so cute. Those little details that Disney adds really increase the fun and magic :)

It's such a small detail but the Pirate Princess has already made me promise that we'll go again in January.
I think the connection to her ballet class just makes it that much more special in her mind.

It's literally across the street from Lights! Motor! Action!
Definitely give it a shot next time - it's a neat photo op!

And if you look carefully, even the buildings behind it are designed to match the scene in the movie.
I'm not a rollercoaster person so I don't go for the thrills but I do love the Disney service and details.
To me, it's those things that make Disney Disney. :goodvibes

Thanks I will be checking it out in 2 days :banana:

I love the green men, too! You got some great HS pictures with the kids. I guess I should know this, but I'm really not sure where you took all those great Toy Story Pictures. Just fabulous!

Directly across from Toy Story Midway Mania and right next to the little souvenir shop.
Bascially, you'll see a door with no sign and a long line.
Usually there are some times posted near the door with times when the characters will be out.
But a Character handler will be nearby as well for information.
