We've all done it.

You see a pin on the rack, or in one of those bins near the cash registers at WDW, and you think to yourself, "I don't need that pin."

Maybe it doesn't fit in your collection, or you think it won't be a good trader, or you figure you can't spend another penny . . .

Or maybe it was a trade offer that you declined? Maybe because you didn't realize the actual value of the pin being offered? Yup. You know the one I mean. :smooth:

And then, you regret it for the rest of your pintrading life!

Well, folks, it's time to spill your guts. . . Unburden your sole. . . Share your anguish with those who will feel your pain.
;)

I'll be brave and start us off. This is just the first one that comes to my mind. Trust me, there were many others. I'll have to add to this list later.

October 2000: We've been pintrading (really, more like collecting) for less than six months. We make a last stop at WoD for a couple last minute purchases. On the counter near the register, is a bin of pins . . . Autumn Breeze Eeyore!

Did I buy even one??? Heck no!

My trip in February, Twirling Tink Mystery pin. Sorry Sharon and Rachel. I made the gang stay in the car because I didn't think anyone would want such an ugly pin. Peggie

I regret what Peggie did (pokes Peggie). Just kidding...it makes searching for it even more fun! (Hey, it's not ugly! But I do admit that for a low LE pin it is a bit "unspectacular"!)

No, this has not happened to me yet, but I can say that I regret buying so many pins just for trading! Lately I've tried something new: I shop on one of the pin web sites, fill up my cart, then delete the whole thing at the end! Sort of gives you the shopping rush without the actual expenditure!

I guess the only one I could really think of was the chance to buy a couple more of the Idaho Flag pin at the store. They let you go through the line again to get more but I thought...heck who would want an Idaho pin. But those things went for big bucks and traded really well.

WAYYYYYYYYYYY back when in Feb of 2000, the parks new to pin trading, me new to pin trading. Came upon a souvie cart in Tomorrowland (pins didn't have their own carts back then) and there were a GAMILLION Feb POM and a gamillion of four pins from the Filmstrip LE 1200. I bought ONE castle POM because I liked it. That was it. Who knew?

I had my hands on 4 MSEP Spinners at the Fantasyland cart and let them go. They weren't limiting them to 2. I already had traders. I was coming back for the final parade weekend which was less than a month away meaning I needed to save money. And finally, there seems to be this rule that if I get a pin it won't trade worth crap. The Spinner has been the only exception to that rule. Oh, I still have those traders!

In November of 2000, we were in our first yearof pin trading at WDW. We were on a budget, and did not buy the October and November POM's ( both of which were still on the racks). A year later, after much begging and pleading on these boards, I managed to complete the POM set I had thought I would never want. Now I know - buy it when you see it!

I was lucky enough to be on the February cruise when the Ariel Artist Choice came out. I was cruising with 12 of my non-pin trading family members. The first night I bought 8 Ariels. The second night 4 more. Then I ran out of common sense dollars. I told myself I couldn't afford to keep buying the $12.50 pin. So I stopped. I could have purchased 24 pins each night for 3 nights if I wanted to, leagally! I could have retired with the ebay profits or at leaste had gotten the Ornament Mickey AC I so desire!!! UGGH

way way back when - hubby remembers looking at the HM "exit sign" pin on a cart - thought it was ugly / stupid - this was before we were into pin trading & collecting - now it's his HG!!

On Ebay --- I remember the DL HM CM hitchhiking ghost pin was at $25. I thought -- I'm not paying $25 for that pin!
Now I would jump at the chance to buy it for $25! :jester: :p

The Mickey Through the Years pins were showcased at The Official Disneyana Convention in September of 1999. I could have bought as many Plane Crazy (PP#310) and the rest of the series as I wanted. I didn't get any. I thought they were UGLY. :(

Ok...here we go!

We all remember a few months ago the big DS blowout...well I did well on that...but.....!!!!

A couple of weeks ago a local Character Warehouse put 10 (different pins) boxes on PARK PINS out for 85% OFF !!!

They ranged in price from $.95 to $1.70 each!!!

YES...I thought about buying ALL of these pins but ended up buying only 30!!!

The next day I went back and they had changed the price to 30-50% off.

I regret not getting the hinged light-up stained glass 10th anniv. of beauty & the beast...

And even though it was tacky, the Fantasyland Trashcan...

Ok

Talk about kicking one self. Me and Randy were in WDW when Mickey for President was released. Had no interest.

Talk about regrets. :(

December 1998 - baskets of Festival of the Master pins all around the store. I bought 3 (and 2 buttons).

Same trip - again baskets of World of Disney 1st year anniv. dangle pins in baskets on the counters, marked down to 2.98 - I bought 3.

December 1999 (I think) - small standing Figment pins and round Figment pins at JIYI marked down to $2.00 or so. (even the manager said it was foolish). I bought 3 of each.

.and let's not forget all the pins on sale at $0.25 at Belz Mall.

We're not really into big time pin trading--daughter just started this last March in Disneyland having some fun with it. But had bought all the Millenuem pins and a few in the parks. Plus took advantage of last year's Disney store close out.

Last November, DD(9) was really wanting Chip and Dale pins, her favorite characters. We were at the hat at MGM and she wanted these two pins, one is Chip and one is Dale. She was spending her money. I talked her into getting this one pin with both characters. Which she was ok with.

I didn't really know how hard it is to find these pins outside of the parks and especially C & D. I've felt like a heel ever since. All these thousands I've spent on trips and wouldn't put a crow bar in my purse to go ahead and by those pins for her!

I don't want to mess with EBay but from that experience, learned to just buy the darn things when we do get to the parks.

Sharon
