Thanks for all the comments . . . will come back and answer after dinner . . we're making the curried chicken and coconut soup from Boma tonight!
Our first full day!
We ate a quick breakfast of bagels in the room in order to make rope drop!
During the morning (we were in MK) Tony stopped to get a bucket full or popcorn . . .
I only had a handful but thought it was too soft. Have they changed the maker? I know it used to be Orville Redenbachers . . . and it didn’t say that on the cart any more – I used to LOVE that stuff. I only give this 5/10 – it has gone well downhill! Tony gave it 8/10 though and loved the buttery-ness (I think it was all the butter making it too soft to be honest, so if that’s how you like it you will be in heaven!!).
Lunch was at Peco Bills, one of our favourites from last year. We both had the same – the Deluxe 1/3lb Angus Cheeseburger (toped with bacon, onion rings and bbq sauce) and served with fries. We also loaded up with gherkins and grated cheese at the fixin’s bar, and covered them with ketchup . . . we’re all about the class!!
The burger was lovely – really moist and absolutely humungous! I removed my onion rings and ate them separately – really crisp batter. The fries were fine – I still wasn’t feeling great though so only ate a few. This gets 9/10 from both of us.
We then shared carrot cake and triple chocolate cake for dessert. I thought the carrot cake was nice – good flavour and very moist, but nothing exciting. But – ohhhh – did I love the chocolate cake!!! Really, really think layer of very chocolately icing on the top and the sponge was pretty good to! I give the carrot cake 7 and the choc cake 9!
Tony liked the carrot cake best and gives it 9/10. He thought the chocolate cake was nice but a bit too rich (this was a shock to me as he has never met anything rich he didn’t love before!!) and gives is 8/10.
We didn’t have any more snacks today, which must come as quite the shock to anyone who has read my reports before!!!!!

Instead we saved ourselves for Jiko at AKL, a new restaurant for us.
We were seated as soon as we arrived. The restaurant was quite dark we thought, but very nicely presented. The service was good throughout the evening.
We started with the bread basket which came with tandori butter. One of the bread types was honey – this was absolutely lovely. I don’t remember the other bread but it was also good – both went with the butter really well.
Sorry – we had already had one piece each before I remembered the picture!
Entrees. For months – MONTHS – I had been planning to have the filet with mac and cheese, I had read reviews, drooled over pictures, and planned out every bite. But I was still feeling a bit unwell and for some reason I couldn’t stomach the thought of something this heavy. In fact, most of the menu seemed unappealing to me. The only thing I fancied . . . was the maize-crusted halibut! FISH!!! I hate fish as a general rule (halibut and cod being the only tiny exceptions) and I never have it when I go out (unless its proper fish and chips). It came with vegetables of the moment and tomato-butter sauce. The veg included spinach which I’m allergic to, so the chef made me a fresh batch of vegetables with no spinach in.
The fish was pretty nice. Very fresh and flaky and the crust was good. The veg were tasty – very fresh - and hit the spot .. . the only oddity in them was the parsnip – I didn’t really feel that went and wondered if it was a last minute substitution for the spinach. The sauce was tasty. I also thought it could have done with a little more veg, or maybe some form of potato. Whilst I enjoyed this I probably wouldn’t order it again, and gave it 7/10.
Tony went for the oak-grilled filet and mac & cheese – darn him!!!! He thought both items separately were nice, but didn’t think they went particularly well together. He also said that he didn’t think it was worth the $42 it cost (we were on
free dining luckily). It got 8/10.
On to dessert!! Yey!!
I couldn’t decide between the Amarula Creme Brulee (With a chocolate-layered bottom, white chocolate, cranberry, and pistachio biscotti) , or the Tarzanian Chocolate, Chery and chocolate - (Chocolate cremeux with chocolate crunch, chocolate-cherry mascarpone and cocoa nibs), so I asked the waitress and she recommended the chocolate.
This was REALLY good – very chocolately. Its amazing, it doesn’t matter how ill I feel, I am always well enough for chocolate!!! The chocolate crunch slab were really crunchy and really rich - delish!
Tony went for the sugar free dessert! I know! Sugar free dessert? I was confused as well!!!

It was called Three Sisters - Chocolate Pistachio Creme, Cheesecake with vanilla creme anglaise, madeleine with strawberries and cream. He really liked this – said it was very fresh and good quality food. 8.5/10
I should explain I had noted it was our anniversary on the ADR (we actually married in June but as we got married at WDW we always celebrate it there). Just as we had finished eating our server brought out the crème brulee I had wanted to try, as an anniversary cake – yey!! I thought that was very thoughtful and she got a nice big tip added to her tip for that!!! I really liked the crème brulee – very light and creamy – but didn’t think it needed the cakey layer at the bottom – I prefer mine more the traditional way. This gets 7/10.
All in all a good night. I would happily go back; Tony wasn’t quite so keen to return but, now the menu has changed and the filet comes with gratin potatoes he would consider it more!
Coming soon . . . Yak & Yeti and Crystal Palace! And at long last the return of my appetite! Let the snacks commence!!!!
