Ack! I'm looking for the perfect umbrella stroller. :wizard: Ideally I want:

Super light for carrying
Easy to carry (ie. strap? bag?)
Comfortable for a 4 year old
Sun shade
Some storage (doesn't need to be a lot)
EASY to fold

So, umbrella stroller veterans, what's my very best choice? Why??

THANKS!! :thumbsup2

I would say the Maclaren as well. It has everything you asked for plus more;) My 4 year old loves it!

Volo? Triumph? Quest? Techno?

I'm thinking Volo, but there seem to be several choices. Or doesn't it matter?

:yay:

I got a Triumph and a Volo for my 1 and 4 years old prior to our trip last week. We LOVED them! My husband and I are both taller and these are so comfortable and easy to push and steer. They fold and open easy, are lightweight, have the shoulder strap. Neither has a ton of storage, but adequate for what I needed.

The triumph is nice as it reclines which I appreciated for my 1 year old as I knew he would be napping in it. The Volo was perfect for my 4 year old. It does not recline, but has a nice shade, is comfortable and easy to use. He didnt nap in the stroller so I didnt need the recline function. I got both on Ebay at a great price.

All week my DH and my mom kept saying how great they were and how they wished we had bought them years ago when DD was little instead of the cheapo ones!!!! I cant say enough good things!!!

Voting for the Volo here - we just got back last week and took 2 Volos - they were absolutely perfect for us. My kids fell asleep in them a few times and didn't seem uncomfortable even with no reclining seat. (they're 4.5 and almost 3) The storage under each was plenty and if we needed more we just hung it off the handles. The seats are wider and roomier than other umbrella strollers I had the kids sit in to try out before we bought. I liked the big sunshade and LOVED the height of the handles - other umbrella strollers we've had have made me feel all hunched over when I was pushing them and I'm not tall by any means (5'6)

Maclaren Quest all the way!!!!!!! LOVE ours and it was bought with Disney in mind, but I use is all the time here at home!

For something a little less expensive, the Chicco Capri stroller is only $70. The handles are a little taller than a cheaper umbrella stroller. Ours has been to WDW 3 times, DL once, San Fran, DC twice, Toronto, Universal and many trips to the zoo. Folds up fast/easy and is really lightweight. I'm sad DD is outgrowing it, making it's farewell journey this August.

I love my Peg Perego Aria. Super light, easy REAL one hand fold, and nice large accessible basket. Has a handle to carry it and also fits in a red Gate Check II bag. a very large sunshade and almost fully reclined.

I also agree with the Maclaren. We have both a triumph and a volo....my son who just turned 5 typically uses the volo BUT now that he is so tall (47.5") and heavy (right at 55 lbs) I think the triumph actually works better for him. The volo seems to bend when he sits down and the mesh is getting kind of stretched out. Also, when he falls asleep, his head ends up pushing the mesh down and his head falls straight back over the top of the seat. It almost works better to have him in the triumph and my 2.5 year old in the volo. She sleeps fine in it. I just think the heavier duty fabric of the triumph works better plus having the recline gives him some additional height when he falls asleep.

Pretty happy with our Chico Capris -- not too expensive and very light (maybe ten pounds). I'm sure the Maclarens are built to last, but I didn't want to spend that much on an umbrella stroller. Comes with a bag and strap. Not too much storage underneath, but overall a good travel stroller.

Maclaren Triumph is better than the Volo. Here in MN, they have been selling Maclaren Triumph's at Marshall's and HomeGoods stores, so I've recently seen Triumphs for less than $100, and Twin Triumphs for about $180. I don't know if they have them in other regions.

Maclaren Volo...bought it for our trip to Disney for my 3 year old and I am SO happy with it!

I bought off ebay from the babyproductstore seller. (We have the 2007 Crimson.) They have several listed right now $68-70 with free shipping. Brand new in the original box. They shipped VERY quickly and I had no problems with the transaction.

And, wow, they have one listed for $70 that includes *2* covers (red/gray and pink). That's a GREAT deal!

I, too, am on the hunt for THE perfect stroller -- but probably not on a Maclaren budget. What I'd like is one that reclines at least partially, has decent storage, is in the 11 lb. range, and is TALL enough for me (I'm almost 6'). Suggestions?

I tried a used Chicco Capri the other day and in addition to it not being tall enough, I kept stepping on the back wheels. Anybody else had this problem?

For an even more value budget - we got ours and love it.

Evenflo XSport - DD4 loves it. and Steve even loves to push it, it is taller then a typical umbrella stroller.

it only costs $40, has a movable sunshade, storage underneath and the back has some venting fabric so DD is not so hot in the FL sun.

Darling God-Daughter (16mos) likes it just fine too. Her Daddy is hyper over the no 5-pt harness, but she stays in it just fine.
