While I was browsing through all this great information, I came across a thread tha had some WILD pictures of ships in the middle of storms. :scared1: :faint: Even though I KNEW I shouldn't be looking at them, :scared: now I thought my DH would think they were real cool. :jumping2: Does anybody have that link? :scratchin I have gone thorugh all of the posts and can't seem to find where I saw this? :confused3 Thanks, Karen

OMG! This is it!!!! :scared1: :scared: :crazy2: :faint: Although I will NOT show these to my kids (even the older ones!!!!) I DO think my husband will enjoy these :sad2: These pictures are pretty unbelieveable :bitelip: Thank you so much for getting this back to me.... and so quickly too! I am glad we are sailing in Feb. That gives me plenty of time to forget about what these pics look like.... wrong!!!!!  Thanks again! Karen

Fortuantely, the Magic and WOnder generally do not encounter these types of seas...both incidents are in much colder water. The only time our beloved ships might even come close to encountering anything this severe would be during hurricane season, and as we all know from last season, they simply divert to avoid endangering the passengers. We are cruising in December, and I might show my kids the pictures, but for a much different reason...we are homeschooling next year, and I can use the pictures to illustrate the differences in the effects of water temperature. I love it when I can turn Disney experiences into school! :teeth:

Thanks for the pictures!!!! The good news is that although it scares me, I can see that the ships CAN come out of these situations, and that gives me some relief. I am a constant worrier unfortunately.
krhardy... I homeschooled my kids to for awhile and it WAS wonderful when you can make the learning fun. How much more fun can it be than Disney fun! Good luck! Karen

Hi,

I live in the Netherlands and the pictures from RCCL from the transatlantic crossing. The seas are always rough when you are crossing the transatlantic. I have been on several cruises in the carribean and never had such rough weather. I have been on rough seas when I was on the Rotterdam who was a steam ship and it did move very hard but never like the pictures I saw now.

I wouldn't be worried if your not planning to cross the atlantic. That's why those cruises are much cheaper.

My father was a merchant marine working on container ships. The stories he tells of storms would make your hair stand on end. It was not unusual for the containers (that are bolted down) to be washed overboard by waves coming over the ship. The good news is that while these waves are not unusual, they are rarely serious. He sailed for over 50 years and has lived to tell great stories.

Yes! I have come to the conclusion, that, although those pictures looked horrendous... we have the pictures, so everyone did not die! :rotfl: Hahaha, it just looked SO bad :scared1: My husband didn't even blink an eye at the pics :rolleyes1 so obviously he isn't scared! I am not going to worry and STILL look forward to sailing! pirate:
