Hey
So since my UY is in Dec. I'm always screwing it up in my head when I try to think beyond 2 years. I
I've got it figure out for our 2012 trip, but I'm a little corn-fused about our 2014 trip. Basically, I'll be going into our 2014 w/ 2 full year's of points and have the next year to borrow from if I want. I'm sure I'll get used to it but for now, I'm trying to remember that I need to treat them "almost" like points form the NEXT year (i.e 2010 points are mostly used in 2011 to over-simplfy). What I'm trying to figure out is what month I'd have to cruise in if I wanted to use 1 full year of banked points, THAT year as well as the following years' points. IF it comes to that. It might not if I just use the points for say "me" and pay for everyone else.

Someone that knows this like the back of their hand...can you help? PEAZ? :worship:;) Did I explain it to be clear as mud? :rolleyes1

I am new to the DVC but I think ....

Any time after the December you get your use year points for the year you want to travel in, so I think you said 2014 right?

So, you bank all of your 2013 points before your banking window. Then when you get your new points in December of 2014 you also borrow 2015's points. You can travel between that December and the next December before the points expire.

Hope that helps, but you may want to wait for someone with more experience to chime in just in case.

I understand completely your confusion. We have an October use year and since we always take our vacations before October, I do always feel like I am a year behind.

I have to get a calendar just for DVC and simply record the points on it. It helps me anyway.

Here's the way I always figure things out.

First, I think of the UY that I will travel in. Once I know that, I know I can use banked points from the prior UY, current UY points, and borrowed points from the next UY.

So, with a Dec UY, if you travel in say, June 2014, you are traveling in your 2013 UY. You can used banked 2012 points, current 2013 UY points, and borrowed 2014 UY points.

It doesn't matter what is available when you call, only when you travel. So, you could cruise any time in 2014 (except December) and use banked 2012 points, 2013 UY points, and borrow your 2014 UY points if you wanted to.

I think that is helping guys. Thanks! I wish it weren't so difficult for my brain. :lmao:
Quoth Phineas: "Ferb, I can't feel my brain." :rotfl2:

yep, the first thing to do is stop and write down what dates you are traveling:

if it is december 2014, then you are in your 2014 UY and can use banked 2013, current 2014 or borrowed 2015 pts.

if it is earlier in 2014, as in sandi's example, then you are in your 2013 UY and can use banked 2012, current 2013 or borrowed 2014 pts.

here is a very helpful thread for owners confused by UY:

That helped, a LOT. I'm going to read that thread now too. The situation I'm thinking of is more of a littel bedore Dec. so I'm still in the previous years' UY. It is so hard to go through all of 2010 for example, technically being in 2009. Makes my head spin. It takes alittle traning in the beginning fo a year to think about the year you're in as opposed to the one you just came from, so it's hard to break that "habit" for just your DVC points. :headache:We used to travel in Dec. a lot but are wanting to try a little earlier in the fall now.

CHEERS!!! :dance3:

December is always hard. We have a Sept and Dec contract.

You need to forget about the year. Just think Dec 1 until Nov 30. That's your year. Any trip you book during that time frame will belong to the year that comes with the Dec.

So you just got points for Dec 2010. Those are good from Dec 1, 2010 until Nov 30, 2011.

Any trip in 2012, that does not fall in Dec 2012, will be in your Dec 2011 UY (you can bank Dec 2010 or borrow Dec 2012). If it falls in Dec 2012, it will be the Dec 2012 UY (2011 bank, 2012 use, 2013 borrow).

Any trip in 2014 that does not fall in Dec 2014, will be in your Dec 2013 UY (you can bank Dec 2012 and borrow 2014 points). If it is in Dec 2014 it will be Dec 2014 UY(2013 bank, 2014 use, 2015 borrow).

You guys have REALLY helped! THANK YOU!!!:worship:
The more I read it and the more people say it, the more it's sinking in.

Our Oct. 2012 trip will take the remaining points from 2010 and all of my 2011. Which is actually perfect.
Then our Sept, Oct or Nov. cruise in 2014 will take whatever I banked from 2012 and all of 2013 with the possibility to borrow from 2014.
That sounds right yes? ;)

THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!:grouphug:
