Folks, today marked my triumphant return to Disneyland after a nearly three-week absence. It was fantastic to be back! The park was chilly this morning but it got more comfortable as the day wore on. Crowds were far lighter than I expected. As many of you know, a number of APs became active as of today. Despite this, crowds were relatively low, which was a nice surprise.
Many of you may remember that about seven weeks ago I was allowed to push the button that started the park at 8:00 a.m. That was a lot of fun. Every time I see the CM lead who helped with that, I stop and talk with her. She was very kind. I saw her today and mentioned that a friend and her family will visit the park in two weeks and I'd hoped I could arrange for her daughters to press the button. Unfortunately, I was told that they're phasing out that privilege for guests :-(. That was a real bummer. But at least I was afforded the privilege before it passed into Disney legend status ;-).
A few park pics from today. Again, we were all pleased that crowds were reasonable. They were about half of what was expected. I did well on Buzz and today brought along a pleasant young lady. We had a great time. I showed her how I do that park and we were first on PP... even though a kid and his dad tried to slip past us in the final 50 feet or so. I always hate when people try that. As many of you know, when I'm the first in line for PP and there's a child behind me, I'll always let him/her have my first-place spot... provided that they have good attitudes. Guests that run and try to snipe my/our first-place postion (when I'm fortunate enough to have it) don't have good attitudes in my book so I won't do it. Anyway, park pics.

Since I was in the company of a young lady, I didn't want to subject her to my usual dozen-or-so rides on Buzz so we only did it together once. However, I returned twice more throughout the day and both times I broke 2M, which is a good day for me. I often break 2M once but twice borders on unusual
.

This wasn't my date for the day ;-).

P.S. We were towards the front of the line at the park gates at around 7:20. My friend wanted a coffee so I asked another friend to hold our spot and we headed over to La Brea Bakery. That was a mistake. There were three people in front of us and service was exceptionally slow. It took at least five minutes to get to the register and place our order. Then another ten minutes passed and I got a text from a friend at the gates: they were about to open. So we cancelled the order and headed back over... but it was too late: the line had already began to move so we had to go to the back. Still, we made RD and were first on PP. But to future park visitors, if you want to stop by La Brea in the morning, be sure you have ample time. And by that I mean at least 25 minutes to get a cup of coffee. Or better yet, fly down to Columbia, grow your own beans, roast and grind them and make a fresh cup yourself. Wait time will be about the same ;-).
