I read this today on Screamscape and found it interesting.

Resort News - (4/2/04) We’ve heard that a new test program for resort guests called The Park After Dark would attempt to replace the Extra Magic Hour program for resort guests. In this case, instead of one of the parks opening an extra hour early for resort guests, one park may stay open up to three hours later for resort guests.

I'll be interested to see how this is implemented.

Ugh! I happen to be an EMH fan - mainly because I know some folks can not drag themselves out of bed early enough! LOL! Anything that they have at night will bring in tons of people, defeating the whole purpose!

I was totally PO'd the last time they took away EMH. It makes a world of difference in our vacations!

I agree with Harambe! I know that many people don't take advantage of EMH cuz they like to sleep in during vacation...so many more people would stay the extra....except, maybe the idea of people with small kids who couldn't make it up that late might offset it,,,but then the problem would be that possibly only fantasyland wouldn't be crowded during park after dark...ugh...no matter how I look at it i don't like it! We are naturally early risers!!

I don't like it either because we are also early risers! We love EMH at the MK the best because of all the rides we get to do before the rest of the crowd gets there.

What would be really great is if the could come up with a combination of the 2!! Like MK would have an EMH day and a Late night 1 time each week. It would eliminate a 2nd EMH day for MK, but then it would be more "accomodating" for different style travelers.

That would totally rock!!:bounce: I would be so excited if this was implemented. I'm a night owl, and I hate getting up early. It's just not worth it for DH and I to get up at least an hour early for only an extra hour in the parks. But 3 extra hours at night when we're already up with nothing to do? That's completely worth it to us.

Besides we love the parks at night, there's just something magical about being there with all the glittering lights, the nights are our favorite times in the park.

I think this would be a great idea. Just think about the numbers for a second. The later the park is open, the less people. Parents with young or tired children, People who are not night owls, etc. This means that there are 3 more hours for people to buy food, to visit shops, etc.

But I am wondering how would they get all the non-resort guests out of the park? Would we have to buy of apply for armbands? Would they close the park for an hour, then reopen?

Just remember, this comes from Screamscape. So take it with a grain of salt.

I have seen two different schedules floating around on various sites, and I don't know which is right!

I was wondering the same thing. It sounds like a good idea, it will be interesting to see if they actually try it.

probably like they did for E-ride nights (which apparently are no more  - we liked those too!!) where you have to show resort ID to get an armband to ride the rides. I would enjoy this perk if it was like someone suggested previously...that they do both....maybe EMH at MK on Monday while PAD (u knew someone would eventually come up with an acronym for it ;) ) at MGM that night, but what are the chances? That's alot of $$ for WDW to offer in perks!!

I would vote for the night time thing too.
It is very hard to get my family going that early to get to EMH.
But I was happy with the E-nights.

I am an early riser so I love EMH. I would not like late night because I am usually tired. ALso when we went in Aug it rained almost every night and even though I do the parks in some rain I would not like to stay out late and in the rain.

I like the idea of a combination. I went with another mother who would have loved to stay out late a couple of times but the parks closed early when we were there. The later people stay out the less there will be even for a normal entry time for us early risers.

We take advantage of the EMH on every day of our trips. We are usually awake anyways, why not go to the parks?

I would be very disappointed if they did away with EMH again. :( It is nice to relax in the evenings & sit on the beach & watch the water pageant, or go & see the fireworks at Epcot.

I hope this doesn't happen, or that they at least keep some of the EMH days & try to do a combination of both EMH & the Nighttime admission.

Let's face it!

We'd all like the parks open 24 hours! ::yes::

Let's start an email writing campaign!

I would much rather see open nights then early mornings I hope they go for this and soon.

This would probably work well at EPCOT and MGM, but I wouldn't bet on it working so well at the MK. If you visit MK during the
time(s) of year it is open later than 9 pm (without having to pay an extra fee), you'll see lots of small kids and their parents in the park very late in the evening. The kids usually have more energy at that point than I do;)

Since they brought back EMH, we have found it to be extremely crowded and were not able to do as many rides as we once could with EE. I don't know if this is due to more Disney resorts so more onsite guests or what but we have had to revamp our touring strategies and go to the park the day after EMH. I wonder if Disney has noticed how crowded EMH is and thought by offering 3 hours after park closing instead of just 1 hour before opening, it would disperse the crowd a little more.

Please bear with me as sometimes I miss the obvious, but why would Disney make this change when they accomplished the same thing with E-nights and were able to charge for it? Wouldn't they just continue with e-nights and collect their $12/person?

Nights for me too......I hate getting up early....plus then I could spend the day at the waterparks and the nights at the theme parks.

The only reason I'm staying onsite is because I want EMH. If Disney did away with EMH before my trip, I'd get my money back and stay offsite. We're not night people and wouldn't have done E-ride night.
