I was just wondering if anyone knows if this is possible, or has maybe done it...

So we got our wedding planned for Disney at Sea Breeze Point and it's gonna be awesome and stuff.

But... my OTHER obsession is Harry Potter. I have a tattoo on my back that says "expecto patronum".
So I was thinking it would be awesome to have my Disney wedding and then to have a couples photo session in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I know that you can't bring a photographer in Disney World... but apparently you can in Disneyland. So what about Universal Studios? Does anyone know if this is possible?

Universal is a totally separate corporation with no affiliation with Disney, so what you can do at Disneyland means nothing for Universal. I would suggest calling Universal to find out. I know that you can do weddings there.

I remember seeing a Universal Wedding on Randy's blog so it does seem that outside photogs are allowed in the parks but I have no idea what the specific rules are (like is it only if you have a wedding booked through them or can you just go in for photos?). Good luck! I think a photoshoot at WWHP would be awesome!:goodvibes

I work for the OTHER park (yea yea I know.. but Disney didn't hire me so I had to find something).

I believe that as long as you pay for them to go in the park, and they don't use any of the iconic images to make money (ie they can't be used in magazines or for marketing of any sort) I don't see why not. As long as the pictures are for your own personal use not sure there is much they can do about it.

Word of warning: not sure what time of year you are planning on visiting, but avoid the busy season at all costs! Harry Potter gets packed.... like push-your-way-through-crowds packed. We have season passes, and every time we go there are massive amounts of people there. It might be worth it to try and go as soon as the park opens, during the off season. The entire Wizarding World is sooo cool though, I'm sure you can get some fabulous pics!

thanks, iluvasoldier and littlestinkerbell, that really helps! i wonder if randy might actually be able to answer my questions if i contact him through his site.

missmanners, i noticed on my last trip that the most packed time for the harry potter part is in the morning... like everyone thinks they have to go there first thing in the morning or they won't get there at all... but the crowds seem to die down a little bit in the afternoons. i don't know if it's still like that or not... it was still pretty new when i went last fall. we are planning on having our wedding on october 10, 2012 so it would be around that time... i know it's not a slow disney season, but the food and wine festival is a big draw for us since DF has never been to disney and really likes food LOL. since you would know the universal crowd levels better than me... what do you think of that time in the fall?

geek+nerd... i do know they are separate, but i thought i would ask here because this is not an official site for disney and i know that frequent disney visiters are often-times going to be frequent universal visitors also. i wanted to get some feedback from a less intimidating source (dis wedding ppls) to see if it was even worth asking around in the more official channels. but thanks.

Luckily you still have a year to go so maybe some of the buzz around Harry Potter will have died down by then! Generally fall and winter are much less crowded there, at least in my experience.... the exception being Halloween Horror nights which is held the end of September through Halloween. Luckily Horror Nights is held at Universal Studios, not Islands of Adventure, so it probably wouldn't impact you that much. You would just need to double check park closing times and all that jazz. I am actually going there this Saturday so I will ask around and see if I can get some more answers for you!

Even though October is kinda our slower period for IOA (Islands of Adventure) I still recomend you go during the week and not over the weekend. During the weekends a lot of people do a stay and play pass. They go to IOA during the day and then pay a small price to stay after to do HHN.

Yes we will be having HHN on thursday and monday nights.. but Tuesday and wednesdays we should be pretty calm, at least that's how it was last year.

A lot of the lines have died down to a point, but there is still a 45min+ wait to do Olivander's wand shop experience. I still haven't done it, and I went opening day AND work at the park.

PLEASE keep us posted on this!! I wonder if you could arrange with Universal to go in about an hour before park opening? It's not like you're using the rides or shops and I'm sure Moaning Myrtle won't mind if you have to come use the potty.
