I used to love watching The Oscars, but not anymore. I haven’t watched in over 5 years, and it’s because I don’t want to listen to all the actors using their winning moment to ram their views down everyone’s throats. Actors doing this during The Oscars is nothing new, but I do think it’s gotten worse in recent years and I just don’t need to hear their speeches - I’m good.

Same. And since I rarely see any of the movies in their first run and couldn’t care less about celebrities, the Oscars are a total non-issue to me.

Nothing is wrong with them, they are just turning into resources. By 2029 they will all be CGI and all the manufactured hype around them and their lives will die off.

I don't think this is a terrible deal. I doubt it will "attract younger viewers" such as the reason that I've seen it was done in part. But what I can say is people are less and less interested in watching long drawn out award ceremonies that have failed to not only read the room but adapt. So a move to a digital streaming platform is actually more than I thought, I figured they would just stop with it entirely.

Probably able to reach a lot of that way really...there might be a demographic that doesn't youtube, but a lot of the younger people certainly will.
