I'm dating myself here, but who else remembers the original Mouseketeers? Can anyone name them all? I'm not sure what year the Mickey Mouse Club started - had to be in the 60's. I remember being in love with Bobby and I so badly wanted to be Annette! And can anyone remember the name of the continuing show that was on the Mickey Mouse Club occasionally? Was it Spin and Marty or was there another one? One sleepless night I happened across an old episode of The Mickey Mouse Club and I almost started crying, the nostalgia just swept over me. I remember as a little girl hearing about Disneyland and I remember hearing and reading about Disneyworld being built. At the time I thought I would have a better chance of going to the moon than actually getting to visit them. Guess that's why my trips are so magical...alll those old memories of watching Walt on the World of Disney programs on Sunday night showing pictures of his dreams :)

I remember watching the original Mickey Mouse Club ... I loved it!
Let's see...there was Cubby and Darlene... :rotfl:

And let's not forget the faorite sweetheart,Annette Funicello! :bride: Bless her heart,I heard she is not doing too well, she has M.S. :guilty:

I have the Mickey Mouse Club Disney Treasures DVD. The show premiered on 10/3/55. The Mouseketeers introduced themselves (in order): Cubby, Karen, Johnny, Sharon, Mike, Nancy, Lonnie, Darlene, Don, Doreen, Bobby, Annette, Roy, and Jimmie.

There's also a Spin and Marty Disney Treasures DVD.

Wow a flash from the past. I loved that show. Karen, Chubby, Darlene of course Annette and Bobby, Roy and Jimmy the adults. Who everyone was in love with. Then we had the Spin and Marty episodes. Let's not forget the cartoons! Aww thanks for bring back the memories. :thumbsup2

First, it WILL interest you to look HERE:

And don't forget about the other "serials" on the original MMC, some of which were: "The Hardy Boys Mysteries" (starring Spin & Marty's Tim Considine), "Annette" (starring Annette Funicello), "Corky and White Shadow" (starring Darlene Gillespie) and there were others as well.

These MMCs were ONE HOUR shows that played FIVE DAYS A WEEK!
All produced on film, shot and edited at Walt Disney Studios.
(Spin and Marty's outdoor scenes were shot at the "Disney Ranch", a western and open-country movie facility a few miles distance from the "main" studio lot.)

That was a MASSIVE undertaking for a film company to produce in those days.

But it was a part of the "deal" Walt made with the ABC network to p;rovide the new TV network with "quality shows" so that ABC would provide much of the extra "funding" Walt needed to build a new family amusement park in Anaheim, CA.

(Wonder whatever became of THAT little project?) ;)

I loved the Mickey Mouse Club, but it was the 50s not the 60s. Now who is dating oneself??? I was totally in love with Spin when I was about 6 or 7. I have the DVD and hope they come out with the next series as well.

These are the guys, all right. Now here I go, down memory lane once again.......

I have the MMC DVD set too. If you really love the show, you should get it before it's sold out(it's a limited edition).:earsboy:

I remember watching a film about Annette's life. And the real Annette was in it at the end.
I've never seen the show though. I'm not sure they've ever shown it in the UK.

It use to be on when I got home from school in the afternoon. They were reruns because I wasn't born until 59, but I loved them so much.

I loved the Mickey Mouse Club and wish they were still showing it on the Disney channel. Why don't they cater to us boomers and put it back on the air with Spin and Marty, The Hardy Boys, Moochie etc. I would stay up fFiday and Saturday night to watch!

I LOVE THE MMC! They were on as re-runs in the early 70's. Does anyone know why the Disney Channel stopped running the "Vault Disney" program? I loved this! Can you buy the Wonderful World of Disney "shows" on a DVD set yet? I loved the wonderful world of color...color...color! That is why I love going to WDW SOOOOOOO much.....Nostalgia! :teeth:

Wow! I thought I was the only one who felt this way about the Club! I used to run home from school to see it and my Mom couldn't even get my Mouse Ears away while I slept at night. I remember an older neighbor kid who nicknamed me "Frisky Mouse Ears". I, too, thought I'd never get to see the land that Walt built and I agree that it makes the trips now much more special. What great memories this thread brings back! OP, thanks for posting this thread.

In fact, Disney should have a separate nostalgia cable channel, a kind of non-sports ESPN2 for Baby Boomers. Replete with original Mickey Mouse Club shows, Davy Crockett episodes, feature films like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Treasure Island, and TV shows like Zorro, such a channel would be awesome!

SO TRUE! If I hear Zack and Cody, or Lizzie, or Raven one more time on the TV I'll scream. They used to make such good shows, now it's nothing but laugh-track city. What a shame. And considering that they own all the above shows, why they continue to make this junk is beyond me. You can bet pre-teens now aren't going to miss the junk they watch now in 30 years.

Ohhh! That would be SOOOO awesome! I watched the MMC reruns in the early seventies faithfully!!! I had a friend who was as crazy for the club as I was. We'd don our mouse ears and sit glued to the tube for the entire episode. We'd sing along with every song and loved the serials.
Of course, I also loved the Wonderful World of Disney and all the wonderful feature films from "back in the day". Fortunately, I was able to hook my own kids on Disney movies, too. Unfortunately, they now think they're too old to watch them with me! I did make them sit and watch part of the MMC Treasures set with me. And guess what--They really got a kick out of it!!!

In the 1950s, TV revived the old Our Gang comedies as "The Little Rascals" and won over a new generation of fans. Why? Because of the programs' timeless elements of entertainment and comedy. TV Land had given a second lease-on-TV life to small screen gems of the 70s. Why? Because of the programs' timeless elements of entertainment and comedy. And all of these aforementioned productions weren't even Disney creations! Imagine, a sincere revival and repromotion of the nostalgic TV glory days of Disneyland, The Mickey Mouse Club, Zorro and, of course, Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier, among other wonderful Disney projects.

Although the prime demographic group for advertisers remains 18-49, the Baby Boomers still pack an enormous financial punch; in fact, the group maintains more personal wealth than any other group. And it has more leisure time to spend, watch and enjoy.

Perhaps Goofy and Dopey-like thinking pervades the grey matter of too many 20 and 30-something decision makers.

Okay, so now you've got me thinking--how many 18-49 year olds are watching Zack and Cody or Raven or Hannah Montana?:confused3 And I KNOW the 20-30 year old decision makers arent watching! ...at least not the shows on Disney Channel...just the bottom line!

Well, i fall in to the 30's demographic, and could not agree more that Disney should go back to the programming format of the original disney channel. My dad got us a satellite dish back when I was a kid, and me and my brother loved watching the old disney cartoons and movies. You just can't see most of thast stuff anymore, and the stuff that IS available, you have to shell out big bucks for a "Disney Treasures" dvd. Seems like it's folks my age that are shelling out the $ to go to WDW, so why no programming? My wife and I were thrilled the otehr day when they actually showed Mary Poppins on ABC Family channel. We would probably watch constantly if the disney channel was the same as it was 20 years ago.
