A while back I asked for and received some advise on the Open, so i thought I would post a review on it, in case anybody wants to know.

It was one of the best trips i have ever taken.

I arrived in London on Thursday am, and ran through some client meetings Thursday and Friday. I had a meeting get delayed Friday, so I had to change my flight up to Scotland. I had originally been on BA out of LGW, and, stupidly thought the 830pm fl;ight would be out of LGW as well. Well, i get to LGW, and, behold, the 9pm flight is full and there is no 830 flight. I finally look at the email ticket, and see it is actually out of LCY, so, back on the Gatwick express, and then to a taxi, and finally at LCY. BTW, the restaurant at LCY was pretty decent. Made the flight to Glasgow, and stayed at the Crowne Plaza, which was very nice, business hotel. On Saturday morning, I got up early and took the train to Girvan and the bus transfer to Turnberry. Long train ride, but, wth. I was surprised that they were selling tickets at the gate, but, once inside, I saw why, as, while it was crowded, it was not overflowing.

I followed Daly both Saturday and Sunday, and had a blast. then, i sat at the 18th for the ending of both days. During both days, i never heard a bad word from anybody, and everybody was nice as could be. There were a fair amount of people who came over from the US, and they seemed to gravitate to me to say hello (could have been the cowboy hat i was wearing). Met up with Daly's girlfriend, who was nice as could be, and the players on the course seemed very personable, as they would smile and wave as the crowd cheered them as they walked by.

The entire course let out a sigh when Watson missed on 18. It was clear that Watson carried the crowd on Sunday. I doubt if Cink had 10 people rooting for him.

The women in Glasgow, however, are hot hot hot. Short skirts, low blouses, and heels. Oh well, being married and tired, I just headed to the hotel, but, sights to be seen.

The event seemed more like an outing for the people who were there instead of a sporting event. There was the singing, which I still don't quite get, but, it added to the atmosphere.

So, to all you Scotlanders, thanks for the great hospitality. I just learned that I was picked in the ballot to get tickets to the Ryder Cup in 2010, and will be back.

So glad you had a good time, thank you for sharing your trip with us and well done on winning those tickets:thumbsup2
