The only way to have a friend is to be one." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Lyzziesmom, I hope Emma had a great party!

Ashley, sorry you couldn't go too.

Technically, I could have taken pain meds, but I figured if I wasn't in too much pain I could deal (no need to pass on medication to Spencer if I didn't need too). My brother had to have ALL of his teeth removed and I can't even begin to imagine what that felt like. :scared:

I thought Adam was great last night (as usual). I would like Danny to stay a little longer; I think he's cute :) and I don't like Kris.

Lyzziesmom- How was Emma's party?

Amber- How are you feeling?

Ashley- I am so jealous that your family is going to Forks, La Push and Seattle!!!! I want to hear all about it!

I'll have to find the pic! It's around here somewhere.

Last night Steven and I went to see a friend of ours play in his band. They and 2 other bands were battling for a spot to play during a Sunday. They were good.

Vent Alert:

I am so sick and tired of this place. I can't stand that my SIL thinks the world owes her and does what ever she wants. I hate that my MIL constantly complains about it, but does NOTHING to change things (although she talks a mean game). I am tired of MIL getting mad at Mike and I for no reason. I hate that she flat out lies and then doesn't own up to it. I can't stand that she tries to undermine me any chance she gets. I hate being stuck in this situation. I am just tired and worn out. I try to stay upbeat, but when things just get worse and worse I don't know how to keep positive.

Vent away, Amber! I am so sorry you're feeling so low. Are you sure your MIL isn't my mother?! :rotfl: Seriously though, it really stinks to be treated like that and I'm so sorry you have to deal with such a toxic person. It can really wear you down emotionally. I don't have much advice, just hang in there and try not to take the bait. I find it infuriates people like that if you just smile, nod, and do whatever the heck you want to anyway. Feel free to vent to us whenever you need to. Sometimes it helps just to have someone to listen.

Hey guys!

Amber, I'm so sorry for what you are going through!!! It must stink so bad. We all have those people in our family that act that way...For me its Jeremiah's aunt and I've learned to just tell myself not to talk to her and not have her in my life. Jeremiah talks to her occasionally, but not nearly as much as he used to. I know its harsh because its family, but just because someone is family, that doesn't give them the right to treat you like crap and expect everything to be ok.

Anybody have plans for this weekend? I think tomorrow we are going to see my dad's band play. It is at a bowling alley and its fun to see the band and also to bowl a game or 2, even though I'm absolutely horrible at it! I also have to get my Mom a Mother's Day gift on Saturday. On Sunday I think we are doing some type of dinner for her, I'm not sure what yet.

Gah! I feel so stupid. Spent 2 hours shopping at JCPenney's Outlet this afternoon to use up some great coupons - $10 off a $10 purchase, and $10 off $25 - before they expire. Also found a couple old gift cards so it wouldn't even drain the ol' bank account. Yay!! Got in line, got out my coupons, and realized they are not good at the Outlet. :headache:

Now feel like a dumbbutt.

Amber- I'm so sorry that you have to deal with family like that. It's just so draining. We're here for you anytime you need to vent.

Lyzziesmom- Sorry the coupons aren't good at the outlet! I've done that plenty of times too!

Tomorrow Steven and I are going to a wine and cheese fest at a local liquor store. It's not the Food and Wine Fest at WDW, but it will do! I need a drink, work is driving me crazy! I've been having anxiety attacks almost every time I go to work.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Awww, thanks Ashley! Happy Mother's Day to Amber.. and to Ashley & Nicole too (as future moms, pet-moms, or you can pass it on to your moms).

Lyzzie was so sweet, she made me breakfast in bed. The only problem is that she woke me up at 7am to serve it to me!! We all lounged around watching tv in my room for a couple hours. It was pretty crowded with all 3 of us plus the 3 cats all on my double bed but it was a great morning.

Then my parents came over. They are working on replacing all the doors in my house. Now that my brother's house has sold, they spend all their spare time thinking up projects to do at mine. Which is fine, the house needs it, but it drives me crazy how they just barge in and start bossing us all around. My dad pulled me aside to scold me for not giving my mom anything for MD -- and then scolded me again for even thinking about spending money on her. I just can't win!! My brother has been putting them through a lot of crap lately and I seem to be taking the brunt of it. I'm looking forward to school starting so they won't think I'm just being lazy -- of course I'm also nervous as heck about going back to school after all these years!

I am working at TDS this afternoon so I guess no MD dinner for me. We might go to Michael's in a little while, they are having a free cookie decorating class for Moms & kids. Fun and yummy!

Yesterday we went to a little carnival in the next town over. It was really fun and the weather was just perfect, but it was super expensive so we only went on about 3 rides. Tickets were $1 each and most rides took 4 tickets!! They had wristbands -- for $20 each.   It was still fun even though we didn't do much. Emma loved the giant slide that you sit on a blanket to ride down, she was finally big enough to go by herself.

We also went to the cat shelter and visited the kitties. They had a litter of 2-month-old kittens that were just so sweet. The girls stayed in the room with them for over an hour! I am thinking of signing us up to volunteer at the shelter now that I have more free time. They let kids volunteer with parents, even if all we do is help socialize the cats & walk dogs. We visit there enough, I figure we might as well help out.

I wish all of you a wonderful day with your moms, grandmas, &/or your kids.

Hey girls!

Nicole, how was the wine and cheese fest? I am sorry work isn't going well.

Lyzziesmom, I can't believe how expensive the carnival was. Lyzzie is such a sweetheart!

We spent the day at Epcot. It was REALLY hot though (about 95). We did have a good time though. They were giving all the moms flowers as we walked in, so that was nice. Spencer loved running around Germany. We let him down to look at the train, but he favorite thing was watching the boats go around the water. Universe of Energy broke down right after the Big Bang, so we had to get off. That stunk because Spencer had just fallen asleep. We didn't ride much, but just had a good time looking around.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

Happy Mother's Day!

Lyzziesmom- Lyzzie is a sweetie! When do you go back to school?

Amber- I'm glad you had fun at Epcot! They wern't serving wine, but we sure ate alot of cheese!

Steven and I went to a concert and we had a great time but boy am I tired! We were there for about 6 hours and it was so hot. I've never felt so nasty in my life! Now I need to go to sleep, I've got 2 finals tomorrow!

Nicole - school starts on June 8th, assuming all my transfers & financial aid comes through in time. The admissions rep assures me that it will (of course she does!) but it seems like it's creeping up very quickly. My schedule will probably be Tues & Wed nights. They don't recommend starting with more than 2 classes at a time. Depending on how that goes, I may add more classes for following semesters. Each class is only once a week but is 4-5 hours long. Then every 11 weeks the classes change, so I think it sounds pretty manageable. I am also excited that I'll be able to jump right into the Paralegal program classes and not have to get the general ed classes done first, if at all (depending on what transfers).

I am so frustrated right now. I had an appointment last week at unemployment and they need pay stubs from a few weeks in April, the last weeks I was with the temp-to-perm job. Well I apparently accidentally threw out the stubs, because I have turned my house upside down looking for them for the last 3 days. I have asked the temp agency for a statement of my wages, all I need is the dates & amounts of those 3 checks. She refuses to give it to me! She says that the unemployment office needs to send her a form, but unemployment said that I have to provide the info myself. I'm in a holding pattern right now & have no idea if this will get done but it's kind of out of my hands. My financial aid also depends on this info so it's really important.

The lady at the temp agency has actually been pretty snippy with me lately, I don't know if I'm imagining it or what but I don't like it and I don't get it. She has always been really nice and I've worked with her on & off since 2001, she has never been like this. Maybe it is just lack of work but I can't help taking it personally. Especially after what went on around here, it's making me wonder if I'm just unlikeable.

Gotta run, my mom just showed up?!

Lyzziesmom, you are NOT unlikeable! We happen to like you very much! I think that it might be the economy right now, or it might be the fact that she dropped the ball concerning your old job. Maybe see if the unemployment agency can call the temp agency and they can get the stubs. Good luck with school, I know you'll get everything in on time!

Lyzziesmom, you are NOT unlikeable! We happen to like you very much!!

::yes:: Fo sho!!! I agree with everything Nicole said!! I don't know why the temp lady is being such a dumb butt (in your words Lyzziesmom;)) I think she needs to understand that this is serious, you aren't playing around, you need that unemployment money! I would keep calling until I got the information I needed...Plus, she probably isn't the only temp agency around, after I got the necessary papers I would look around for another one...

Lyzziesmom, I agree with Nicole and Ashley; you are a GREAT person. :grouphug: That woman could just be having personal issues and taking them out on you. I would just keep trying to get your info from her (or could you ask someone else in her office)??

We just got Spencer a portable DVD player. We are suppose to go north this weekend (MIL is going to her niece's graduation and we are hitching a ride) and I am dreading the 14+ hour car ride. I am hoping the DVD player will keep him occupied. I am SO excited about seeing family. We aren't staying long (probably only three days), but I'll take anything I can get. My grandparents (dad's side) are suppose to come to my dad's house to visit too! I haven't seen them in YEARS (they haven't even met Mike).

Awww thanks guys, you are the best. I swear I wasn't fishing for compliments but it totally worked! ;) You all have really made me feel a lot better. I love you guys and am so blessed to have such great true friends.

After all the stress of the weekend, I did end up finding the pay stubs I needed after all. My mom found 2 and left them with a note that says, "Oops, I accidentally snooped." How do you accidentally snoop?! :rotfl2: I think this is the first time I've ever been grateful that she is so nosy. I cleaned out my car and found the other one wedged under the passenger seat's floormat. :confused3 At least I know the info will be delivered because I will personally be dropping it off (and I have a nice sparkly clean car). :goodvibes

Amber -- great idea with the DVD player! Emma was about 2 when we got ours and it was far & away the best money I've ever spent. What a lifesaver on trips... of any length! Can I make a suggestion? Pick up a couple of DVDs that he hasn't seen before, and bring along a couple favorites as well. At his age, Emma loved (and still loves) collections of Disney shorts that are pretty cheap at Target or WalMart. We have "Best Pals" and it has some really great ones on there. Little kids love these because they are so funny, nice and short for their little attention spans, bright colors, and not a lot of dialogue or story to have to follow. They are also fun for us "big kids" to watch too. :rolleyes1

I am so excited for you, for getting to see your family and introduce them to Spencer -- and Mike! I know they will just love your guys, who wouldn't?

We are watching Idol from a couple weeks ago (it's sad how far behind we are) and I'm having a heck of a time trying to explain to Emma the concept of "live on tape." She keeps saying, "But Ryan just said, 'coming at you LIVE,' so it's live right now, he SAID so!" Because apparently Ryan Seacrest tells the godshonest truth! :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

I am a little bummed because Redbox has cancelled their free movie Mondays. :( Today is the last one; we rented Bride Wars and the DVD doesn't work!! :headache: I am hoping they will send a code for a free replacement but I'm not holding my breath.

Tomorrow is the Girl Scout year-end dinner for Lyzzie's troop. I volunteered to bring a dessert so I guess I know what I'll be doing all day! Baking for 25 people! I can't believe it's the end of the school year already, it has really zipped by. It just hit me today how everything is winding down. Tomorrow morning I am taking the girls for their physicals, Lyzzie for camp & Emma for kindergarten. Where did the year (and my little girls) go?

Nicole -- how is work going? Has it gotten any better? Are you looking for anything else or are you going to try to stick it out? I wonder if it might get better after the training is over. It sounds like your manager might be trying to prove something to her higher-ups since she is new to the company. I don't know, I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Ashley -- I don't recall saying dumb butt, but it does sound like me! :rotfl: Yes there are tons of other temp agencies around. I have tried several and this one is by far the best in town, they have a great reputation too. I really think there is just a big slump right now but I tend to take things personally. Darn being a sensitive Libra! ;) My mom will suspend my rent payment while I'm in school, for at least the first 11 week semester while I get back into the routine of school. I will continue to work at TDS and hope to get some daytime hours too, but I'm not actively pursuing a fulltime job at the moment. Of course if the agency does find me something I won't turn it down!!

Whoa I just re-read everything and realized I have written a mini novel!! Sorry for the rambling (even more than usual!), I think I messed up my meds today because I forgot to eat much and am feeling a little woozy. :faint: Yeah, that's the ticket. ;)

PS - the SpongeBob commercial with Sir MixALot rapping about square butts is hilarious!

Amber- That's great that you are going to see your family! I'm sure Spencer will love his DVD player!

Lyzziesmom- Work is going okay, I've sent my resume out to a couple of places. I'll just see what happens. There are a few reasons why I want to leave. I'm not sure the Sales Lead position is right for me, There is alot of gossip, if you tell one person something, then everyone else will know. My manager is nice, but I constantly walk on egg shells to not upset her, and that's part of the reason I get the anxiety attacks.

I'm sorry your job isn't going so well, Nicole. Hopefully you will find something that you like much better soon.

Emma failed her hearing test this morning. She has always been sensitive to loud noises but I never had indication that she had any other hearing trouble. The first time they tested her today, she "was teasing," (aka lying) and said she couldn't hear anything. I finally got her to admit she lied because she didn't understand the instructions, she thought quiet beeps didn't count. I've been having honesty problems with her lately. But we had a talk about it and I threatened to take away her computer time, and she promised not to "tease" on the test again. She still could only hear 2 out of 5 tones in each ear. She has to see an audiologist next month. In a way, I almost hope she was lying -- it would make me mad but at least I'd know she is ok.

I made 2 batches of brownies for the dinner tonight and my house smells SO good! They seem a little underdone, I hope they are ok. I'm sure the Girl Scouts will love them anyway.

Lyzziesmom, I forgot to say earlier, I'm glad you found the stubs! I hope Emma is lying too, I really hope her hearing is fine. I kind of would like to find something else too, there was a ton of drama today. And I'm tired of it.

Nicole, I am so sorry that work isn't going well. I hope it improves or you are able to find something MUCH better.

Lyzziesmom, I hope Emma's hearing is ok.

I am so mad. I thought we were going to leave this afternoon, stop overnight, and get to my mom's tomorrow afternoon. Now, because my MIL "needs" to get her hair done and needs to pack, we aren't leaving until tomorrow morning. That means that either we drive straight through and get there sometime tomorrow night or we can stop tomorrow and not get to my mom's until sometime Friday. Since we are suppose to leave Monday morning, I want as much time with family as I can get. This just makes me mad, because my MIL procrastinates so much.
