We had rented our points with David's and since they were during the closure period (6/19-6/24), the reservation should get canceled. I don't want to cancel it myself and be in violation of the contract but we are not re renting the points and I want to book a stay for next May but DVC hasn't canceled yet. Anyone had a reservation canceled recently and for what time period? I know this has been asked before but I want those points lol!

DVC has been cancelling reservations on a rolling basis. They tend to be about a week ahead of the arrival date, give or take a few days.

David’s will offer you a travel voucher after the reservation has been cancelled. Read the terms carefully. You might want to consider doing a chargeback on your credit card to get your money back instead of accepting the voucher.

In the meantime, all you can do is wait. Your reservation will be cancelled because the resort will not be open on your check in day.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I am the owner not the renter :-) We want to use our points but I can't since they are locked up for the reservation I am waiting on DVC to cancel. I just wish DVC would hurry up and cancel so I can use the points, the reservation is less than a week out so I was just wondering if anyone else is waiting or if DVC is just behind.

I'd talk to Davids. They might be ok with you canceling so they can refund the renter sooner.

I may do that, we are giving the funds back to David's because we want to use the points and they are from April 20 UY so our points are not distressed or anything. I told them I wouldn't refund though until our points actually showed back up in the correct use year and not in holding.

No. In rereading your post, you were very clear. I just misread it.

Do you have points for next year that you can use to make the May reservation now? I've been successful in reallocating points in an existing reservation once another reservation has been cancelled. I just use the modify function on the website and tick the contracts that have older points on them. Any banked and borrowed points get used and current UY points get freed up.

I have read they are no longer that far ahead as most owners would be canceling or changing with an open date.

I think they said Ms told them they were on 12th check ins and this was manybe the 10th.

I would contact David’s and tell him MS is behind and see if he lets you do it.

We rented out our points with David's also and the reservation period is 6/16-6/23. I just checked and DVC has not canceled it yet. We agreed to re-rent our points. I am planning on emailing David's on Sunday to let them know that DVC has not canceled the reservation yet and ask if I can cancel it. I will update you on the response I receive or if DVC cancels it first.

I emailed David's on Sunday and explained the situation. DVC still had not canceled the reservation which begins on 6/16. David's said I could call DVC and ask them to cancel. DVC called me today and asked if I wanted to cancel or just keep the last night which is 6/22. I told them to cancel it and all of the points were returned.

You might get a call asking if you want to cancel or keep the last two nights when the resorts will be open.

Thanks for updating! I will wait for DVC to call me versus sit on hold waiting. I am guessing they will call prior to the Thursday check in date, I can wait until then I think to get the points back and book. I am in the 11 month window and needing a 1 bedroom which is always the very last to fill up it seems.

MS just told me they are no longer automatically cancelling if the reservation overlaps the opening date of June 22nd. Mine starts on the 19th and they asked if I wanted to cancel or move the check in date.

I'm still waiting to hear back from David's if I can cancel and not break the contract since DVC is no longer automatically cancelling.

So did they call you or did you have to call them?

Just to wrap this up, DVC called me today, so 2 days before reservation, asked if I wanted to keep any of the days post opening or just cancel. I had them cancel and points went back to my 2020 UY where they came from.
