The only thing I got upset with. . . .

Well, that's one of the many things I like about traveling with my dh. He just doesn't take junk like that from other people. FTR, I don't think we'd spend a lot of time waiting for a parade/show, but we went in the off-season so who knows what we'll do when it's busier. Anyway, when my dd turned 8 last year (on 11/18 - Mickey's Birthday!), she wanted to see Wishes after dinner. We had gone to Chef Mickey's and then took the monorail over to see the fw (we even got to ride in the front the whole way). By the time we got back to MK, it was pretty close to fw time so instead of fighting the crowds and trying to get down main street, we went up into the rail way station. There were a lot of people there already, so we staked out a spot with gaps so the kids could see. As soon as the show started, a grown woman came from *behind* us and stood directly in front of my 4' tall dd. My dd immediately started crying b/c she had her heart set on seeing the show for her birthday and she's a drama queen. My dh in turn immediately told the woman to move so the little girl could see. My dh is 6'2" and is pretty intimidating. The woman moved. It is totally beyond me why an adult would think it's OK to block someone else's view, especially a child's. Why would you have to be told? I just don't get it.

Now, when we saw Spectromagic on our first night, we didn't realize how early we needed to stake out a spot and so were standing back a bit. When parade time came, a woman who had been sitting with her young kids on the curb switched spots with my girls and sat with dh and I so the little ones could see. I thought that was so nice. At Epcot, we returned the favor to another family for Illuminations.

I have a different problem. It seems like no matter how early I arrive or how close to the rope I am, someone always manages to wedge a child in front of me where I can not see. ( even having them step between my legs!) Sitting in a wheel chair really limits your view. I hate to say anything to a parent wanting their child a nice view, but honestly it is not my fault you did not want to take the time to get there sooner, I want to see the parade too.

BYW. I have offered to let SMALL children step in front of me, and on one occasion with moms approval, one very sweet little girl even sat in my lap.

We have someone in a wheelchair in our party usually when we go to WDW. The frustrations of having an adult move to block your child are compounded, believe me, when your family is following CM instructions and standing/sitting where told to...and then as soon as the fireworks start, someone comes and stands RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE WHEELCHAIR totally blocking the view of the person in it. Believe me, we have tried every polite way of asking people to move, they just do not care.

And this was inside the handicapped viewing area! The CM had disappeared too so nothing helped. No one could get this guy to sit down. The view of the fountains and the globe in the water were obstructed for four or five disabled people by this one inconsiderate person who just had to stand at the railing. One of those people (not in our party) had been waiting for two hours in her spot for them to start and had come all the way from CA to see WDW. Her evening was ruined.

People just don't care, it seems, when it comes to viewing this stuff and this is why I just don't enjoy it as much anymore. I'd rather watch the fireworks from one of the resorts even if it means missing the music.

The past couple trips especially it just didn't matter how early we got there or how long we waited, it seemed someone always just helped themselves to the view we had waited for...

Had I been there and in a wheelchair, I'd have taken my wheelchair and accidently run over his foot! :moped: Mistakenly standing infront of someone, okay. Intentionaly and knowingly standing in front of people in the handicap section, well, there's a special place in heck for people like that!

The only parades I like to see are at MK, and I find the trick is to not try to see it on Main Street. Main Street seems to have the worst of the offenders. Also, if there are two showings of Spectro, see the later one if you can! Fewer people makes for more viewing space!

We usually find a spot an hour in advance, and once after the fireworks, the crowds were so heavy we couldnt find a spot for Spectro. A nice couple of women sitting said "You can sit here if youd like" it was the nicest thing!!
I think if you help others out, you will get it in return. :flower:
