Today we had breakfast in the Manhattan – plenty of hot cooked stuff followed by sweet calorie laden stuff. First thing my Mum said on seeing this photo was "look at all the ketchup you left on the side of your plate!"

Could he GET any more maple syrup on that pancake?

I think she is pointing out how messy her hair is

We got to the Park at about 8.15 - yay! first chance to take the traditional early morning photo without the rain spoiling it!

We had 2 goes on Buzz. There was definitely something wrong with my aim though. H and D were once again on good form while I couldn’t hit a cow’s backside with a banjo!

They went on Space Mountain next and then we went to Fantasyland. D and I went on Peter Pan while H visited the prettiest toilets in the world (the ones in FL opposite PP). He decided he wanted to go on PP then so we all 3 went on again.

We decided to follow the pattern of the previous days and go over to the Studios. As we left the Park we saw these fellows marching in, so they could stand just inside the gates and play to welcome the crowds. The drummers give them a beat to march to.

Today was the official opening day of TSPL and I think there must have been lots of management prayers for fine weather as it wasn’t raining. Look – BLUE SKY! Not much admittedly but it was a start and you can see D was ready to take her jacket off in a flash.

We went to get FPs for TOT and as we did so we could see and hear just to our right that Mickey was declaring TSPL officially open – streamers popped, cameras flashed and the crowd surged in. It was 9.50 am.

We had to go in and have a look, of course. There were lots of suits everywhere and loads of photographers and cameramen and people with boom mikes. In the middle of all this – the rides!

We watched the first RC Racer ride being launched, listened to their screams and then as the ride finished they all clapped. It was quite touching really and dozy- mare here had tears in her eyes.

Slinky was not too slammed at the moment as there were lots of press bods half-blocking the entrance so we took the chance to go on for a ride. We got chatting to a very nice lady in front of us about the new land and, of course, The Great Rain.

Buzz, Woody and Jess were there meeting and greeting – along with lots of these guys – so there was a very lively atmosphere.

After having a look around we decided to go over to RnRC to see if there was time for a ride before our Tower Of Terror FPs. There was, as there was only a 5 minute wait. From there to TOT – after our ride it was about 11 o’clock so we decided to go back to TSPL to have a people-watch and look at the wait times. Slinky – 45 mins, Parachute Drop – 75 mins, RC Racer 80 mins – ouch!

We left the Studios then – the queues to get in were very lengthy.

D and I went shopping in the Village for a while and H went to the Santa Fe garage to get some bottled water. We got take-away from Annette’s and met H on a bench by the lake where we sat and ate our food.

D and I had a long rest back at the room while H went for a look round Val d’Europe.

D had wanted to go swimming at 3.00pm but when H came back she was still fast asleep so we let her sleep on. H opened the window to our room and sat by the open window reading. It was lovely as lots of sounds from the Park were carried in through the window – we could hear the train, the Character Express and the New Generation show.

Later on we got ready for our meal at the California Grill.

Once again we had fantastic service and really tasty food here. H had tomato and basil gazpacho, sea bass and ice-cream and sorbet.

This is what he left of his main course.....

100_4121.jpg

I had foie gras, fillet of beef and ice-cream and sorbet,

D had pasta followed by marshmallow and ice-cream – this from the teen menu.

2 adults, 1 teen plus water for each of us came to €144, before discount.

We were in there for 2 hours so it’s not a meal you would want to have in Park time if it was not summer time with all the extended hours.

The Park was 'pleasantly' when we came out.

We went over to Discoveryland to see Captain Eo for the first time. This is very 80s but was still good fun. All the youngsters whooped when MJ came on screen for the first time. The 3D effects are quite entertaining too.

We walked from one end of the Park to the other then – going all the way over to go on Phantom Manor. BTM still had a wait time of 50 mins (a bit different from last night!) so we once again crossed Main St to get back to Discoveryland before the parade started. H and D went on Space Mountain while I looked in the shops a bit and then we all finished the night with a go on Buzz. We were leaving the Park just before the fireworks started so we were just ahead of the crowd.

H was feeling tired, as he hadn’t had the long afternoon sleep like we had, so he went straight to the room. D and I went to the bar where she had another Wildlife cocktail and I had a Carioca and also bought myself the souvenir glass.

Then it was time for bed.

Wow - never seen crowds like that for the Studios!

Lucky you getting a good look round on AP days :thumbsup2

We loved breakfast in the Manhattan too - very civilised....thanks for sharing :goodvibes

I have to be truthful and say some of this food was wasted on me. I wanted to eat there to see what it was like and because I had HB Premium vouchers, but I don't like rich food enough to get the best of this. If you are a foody, I'm sure you would love this.

Had a change of opinion have we ;)

Glad you enjoyed your meal :thumbsup2

Heck, I'd forgotten I said that! :rotfl2: As you can see from my husband's empty plate - he is much, much more likely to lap it up than I am. Strange really when he is slim as a pencil and I am like a little round barrel.

loving your report we would make a great team as I am so crap on buzz its unbeliveable :confused3 and i cry at the slightest thing (like the RC racer thing) my DD is 13 so one day we should ditch the hubbys and have a good cry around disney together :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

ok i so totally want the tag fairy to see this and tag you with

I couldn’t hit a cow’s backside with a banjo!

best quote ever lol

What a trip report that would be! I'm starting to save now.

Don't give that pesky fairy any ideas. :sad2:

Just wondering what the difference between breakfast in the Manhattan and the standard breakfast is please.

The food is exactly the same - we just found it was kept warmer in the Parkside Diner so we tried going in there each day, but for some reason we were always sent down to the Manhattan instead.:confused3

The park looks a lot busier today - amazing what a lack of rain will do!
