The Olsen twins are really going to fit in at NYU

You're right, it definitely will not be the "normal" college experience. But then, nothing in their life has been "normal". I don't begrudge them a thing, they've been hardworking for all of their 18 years of life.

Boy I thought you were going in another direction after reading the title of this thread. I remember all of the internet rumors last year when the twins were deciding on what college to attend. It's probably a good time to take a break from acting. Couldn't get into the link to read the story.

There is no way that they could live in a dorm, they would be mobbed by fans, curiosity seekers, and assorted weirdos. They will attend classes, just as they attended high school, but life for them is totally diofferent than life as most of us know it. I hope they get through the next 5 years with out too much trouble. I always thought they were cute on Full House, but I haven't followed them since.

not sure about Brooke Shields but she had a very small apartment above the ice cream shop when she was an upperclassman.

Your life can be as normal as you want to make it. These girls are creating their own three ring circus. I still think a 7 million dollar penthouse is a bit much.

Those young women are being cheated out of the normal college experience just because they are burdoned with all that money they have. . .


Normally I'm not one to get invloved in "causes", but their plight has touched me deeply so I would be willing to watch over their millions and millions of dollars even to the point of not letting see so much as a bank statement just so it doesn't ruin this once in a lfetime opportunity. . .

I wouldn't even accept any kind of accolades or honors for voluntarily helping them out- doing right would be reward enough for me!

Kallison, a 7 million dollar penthouse does seem escessive, but considering the money that they possess, it's all relative. Thousands of kids go to college and don't live on campus-it's called commuting. Except they probably do it for different reasons. I'm not sure what sort of normal college experience they would have if they did live on campus. I feel that they are making the best out of their situation - trying to get a college education while being famous multi-millionaire teens. Finding a nice, safe place to live in NYC isn't cheap (and they don't have to be cheap )

I went to NYU and didn't live on campus. I lived in a one bedroom apartment with 6 other people for 2 of the 4 years I was there.

Slightly different scenario than the Olsen twins, but I'm confident they will enjoy their experience there.

But other than Jodie Foster or Brooke Shields, none of those actors are really very well known. Many of the other students will recognize the Olson twins right away--after all, they grew up watching them! And I'm sure that some of this is done for the protection of the twins--I bet there are kidnapping threats, etc. made to them on a daily basis.

Yup. Lots of NYU students who live in NYC do that.

And besides, NYU doesn't have a "campus" in the traditional sense of many schools. It's really very integrated into the city; basically, a group of buildings around Washington Square. It's not so much like many college campuses that are their own districts unto themselves, with definite borders.

I had my own room- in Lawrence KS. They want a real college experience they need to move to the sticks like me!

Its different at NYU though. The campus itself is very small. Lots of kids of very wealthy people, etc. go there, and then just regular people who can't stay in a dorm because there just isn't enough dorm space to accomodate everyone. I can understand if they were in a small college town, but in New York, its not at all unusual that someone lives off campus. I think I definately had a rich college experience, even though I lived off campus. Not sure about the Olsen twins, I can't imagine that they could ever have the same experiences that us regular folk do, but I admire them for trying to assimilate as well as can be expected given their fame and noteriety.
