Going through old WDW memntos from previous trips-
1. Whatever became of Superstar Television? When and Why did it end?
2. Coach's corner-is it true that this attraction is pretty much non-existent now? Why? When we were there at the end of 1989, it was very popular (granted it had just opened) and alot of fun.
3. FW and WS used to both open at 9:00, at least in 1987. When did they go to the staggered hours, where WS opens at 11:00?

And a little trivia I uncovered-in 1994, the most expensive room (not counting suites) was the Concierge at the Grand Floridian-$450/night during regular season. Yacht Club Lagoon View Concierge-$385/nt., and Poly LV Concierge-$325/nt. I wonder what those rooms cost now!

I'll help as much as I can!

1. It became a "Doug" theater (you know, that cartoon) for a while, but now remains empty

2. Yep, nonexistent, was popular the last time I was there before the newest AP as well, not sure about that...

3. I'm pretty sure the hours were always staggered...Unless my memory's failing me, which wouldn't be that surprising!

Those are all good questions. I don't have answers, but I will say that Superstar Television was superior to whatever replaced it, and to many of the present day attractions at the studios.:(
I also remember when all of Epcot was open at 9am.:earsboy:

As a matter of fact, I remember the UG recommending that you tour WS first when you entered EPCOT, and then return and do FW afterwards.

I think Epcot started staggering hours after 9/11. I'm pretty sure the whole park was open at 9:00 am during our honeymoon in Oct. 2000. But I could be wrong, it certainly wouldn't be the first time. :D

From all the times I've been to ECPOT starting in the early 90's it has always had the staggered hours.

Sorry I don't remember any of the other attractions you brought up.

I can't add to much to this thread, but...

Superstar television closed it's doors in 1998. It was relaced, like WDWAurora said, by Disney's Doug Live in 1999. That closed in 2001.

I found an old Disney Times and Information brochure from June of 1993. It lists the EPCOT hours as 9a.m. to 9p.m. for both FW and WS. I can't tell you when this changed to the staggered hours, my shoebox of old brochures and guides is totally unorganized.

Oh my gosh! This made me LOL. I have the exact same box. Everytime I'm cleaning I think "I'll just get rid of this" and then I just can't do it. Sometimes I make the mistake of sitting down and going through it. Then nothing else gets done!

Here's something interesting I found last night while rummaging through some old files...

The bill for a 2 night package at Contemporary Resort Tower: $144.00. Each additional night at the hotel was $39.52, w/o more tickets! Then we moved to the Poly for the same price.

The two night package included: "Hotel, transfers, and baggage control-delivered to Hotel. 3 Days use of WDW transportation system connecting hotels and Magic Kingdom. 3 days admissions to Magic Kingdom Theme Park. Admission to 18 Magic Kingdom theme Park attractions. Luau one evening of your stay , inc. 2 Mai Tais, food, show, tax and gratuities, state and local taxes."

The date was 10/2/74...

How about that!

I loved it when WS opened at 9am. It was so peaceful walking through the countries in the morning and stopping in France for a pastry.

I'm not alone! Many times I thought of just throwing it all out, but I know I can't. That old stuff is pretty interesting. Once I considered cutting it all up and making a collage. But I couldn't bring myself to do it. Now I always bring home extras just for that. Who knows when I will ever do that? I may need some more boxes!:teeth:
