Family Disney Trip Report

June 30- July 10 2007
Staying at Coronado Springs Resort

Well, to start off I must introduce the cast of characters in this adventure.

Me: :laundy: Sharon, Disney Mom ready to plan a trip at any time. I love Disney, always have and always will. I love to take photos and take tons of pictures of my family. Sometimes my wanting to take create a certain vision for my photo makes me a little crazy. You will see what I mean later.

DH:pirate: Bobby has Never been to Disney, but is jealous that we went with out him last year, so hes not letting that happen again. He works hard so I don’t have to. He takes good care of us and Is pretty cute in my opinion. He likes to pretend he is the boss, but we all know who that really is.

DS::cool2: Kiefer is 17 and going to compete in the U.S. Open martaial arts competition while we are at Disney. He is an istructor at his school and this will be his 2nd competition at this tournament.

DTwinS: :hyper2: Tristan and Bryce, or Pain andPanic, as I like to call them. They are 10 and starting to become just as big of a Disney fanatics as I am. Very sweet boys, but so shy. It will be a miracle if I can get them to participate in any thing.

DD: princess: Brinley, or as she likes to be called Brinleyella our 2yr old Princess, if there ever was a princess. She will have her birthday while we are at the world. She truly belives that she is royalty and her title is Princess.. I waited all those years for a girl and I finally got one. She is my sidekick and my partner in crime. We are the main reason daddy gets up and works so hard.

Enter the cast of supporting characters.

A little history here. My plan was to go to Disney and watch my son compete in his tournament and have some extra Disney time with my family.

My brother decided that he wanted to do the same. So he plans the trip with us also. Then of course after that its only logical for Mom and Pop to join us . So now we have the grand total of 13. This should be interesting.

And so I introduce the Cast of supporting Characters.

Db: Curtis : :dumbo: Hes a Disney fanatic also. He and his wife travel to Disneyland once a year to vacation, but this will be their first ever WDW trip.
I am unsure the dynamics of this whole trip with family. But hey Im game.

Dsil Bernae: :earsgirl: Again she has been DLR many times, but this will be a first WDW for her. I don’t know her extremely well, but this trip will give us the opportunity to remedy that. My brother and her married a few years back and I haven’t had much opportunity to spend a lot of time with them.

DNephew Cameron: :stitch: He is 10 and is always in the mood for spending time with his cousins and Disney. He told my brother that he was cool with missing the baseball playoffs so he could go to Disney.

Dniece: :tinker: Ireland, (I just love that name) She is 7 and not much of a princess fan, but loves tink. She is as cute as a button..

Dniece: :tinker: Callahan, is 4 and is looking loves her cousin Brinley, she cant wait for our disney trip.

DMom: Or Nana as we call her. our has been to Epcot, but did not see it as that much fun. That just breaks my heart to hear those words. We will have to show her how much fun Epcot can be.

DStep Grandpa: We like to call him grumpy. He is a great guy who thinks him and tigger:tigger: have a special bond. I guess Tigger is a must see while we are there.

Ok, the cast has been introduced and the adventure is about to begin.
:cheer2:

Great intro. Looking forward to the rest.

We all arrive at staggering times and leave in pretty much the same way. Our official trip is from June30- July 10 2007.

Let me paint the picture for you. We leave our home town in Texas on Saturday June 29th at around 5pm, our flight is at 6 and we will be staying over night in Dallas, and then continuing on the next morning(at the butt crack of dawn )to Florida. This over night stay saved us 1000.00. Dh gets off work and we are all sitting on pins and needles excited and anxious. This is the moment we have been waiting and planning for since January. We are all ready to go and all he has to do is shower and we are off to start our vacay. We make it with out a hitch to the airport, park our car that is overloaded with 10 days worth of clothes, and necessities. And take the buss to the terminal. Now before all this happens, I give my husband the rundown. And I quote “ I am the expert here, this is how we will run the show.” His response is okay. Typical. I tell him in terms he is capable of understanding. ( basically I broke it down Barney style for him) I am the head of the train, you are the caboose. All our little cars are between us. This is how we roll through out the whole trip. Got it? Get it? Good. I would have made him repeat it to me, but I thought I might save a fight for a really good cause. LOL. There is bound to be one sometime in this ten day period.

Any way, my Dh has not flown in several years. And he was in no way prepared to handle 4 kids and himself through security. So he just handled himself. I wrangled a toddler, a stroller and 12, yes 12 carry on items. He was quite flustered after we made it through, but I was actually quite pleased that we did make it through without pepper spray or a full body search being involved. Thank goodness we only have to go through that 2 more times.

Our flight was only an hour long, and we arrived at our hotel which offered complimentary bus service to and from the airport. We stayed at the Embassy Suites and I snagged a really good deal on a room. We got what they called a slumber party package. It meant we got 2 pizzas, sodas and a movie for the night. My family was quite impressed with me. As they should be. really no applause necessary.

The only bad part of the whole ordeal, was that we had to be at the airport early, for our flight left at 7am. So everyone pull out your airport to English dictionary and that meant we had to be up and out of the hotel by 5ish. This would make the 2nd time we had to haul our luggage, plus carry on items to the airport. Luckily I had given my kids the suitcase breakdown. Pain and panic were incharge of their suitcases and carry ons. And the rest of the luggage we split up between my DH, DS17, and me. Once we were able to get our luggage to the check in area, I was happy happy happy that we did not have to lug, the luggage around any more till we left Disney. Did I mention how happy I was to not lug that luggage.

On to the security checkpoint. After going through security screening in our home town. I thought that would be the perfect primer for the larger airports. I assumed that my Dh would catch on to the whole process, see how much work it was and help out through the whole thing. But NO all by me onsie, again I managed to get all our children, and carry on’s through security, while Dh tied his shoes and tapped his foot like hurry up woman. While cursing obscenities in my head, I clenched my teeth in a smile and said coming honey. Im going to Disney, Im going to Disney, is the phrase I kept repeating in my head.

We grabbed some grub at the airport burger king, and waited for our flight. We left at 7am and didn’t get to Orlando till 4pm. LONG< LONG< day with layovers and plane switcheroo somewhere along the way. The plane ride was okay, uneventfull. Pain and Panic played videogames, DS who we will refer to as the Teenager, listened to Ipod and pretty much stayed in his own world. Now the Princess , unhappy about flying coach, requested that her peanuts be lined up just so. And the juice be shaken not stirred. She pretty much watched her movie and bugged her dad for the entire flight.
As we approached MCO, I started pulling out items from under our seat front trying to get a head start and I found a big wad of gum on my backpack. As my 3 boys were sitting in the seats in front of us, I knew it was them. Now, Im like Walt, I hate hate hate gum. I never let my kids have gum. But they had gotten a trip package from someone and lo and behold it had gum in it. I instantly came down from the high I was in and began threatening them with in an inch of their lives. It was like Cruela, Malificent, and Ursula all rolled in to one. We went through the proper disposal of the nasty substance called gum and the consequences of doing said infraction again. Needless to say they did not chew any gum the rest of the trip. I learned that channeling the disney villans works.

Now back to being overly excited again. We had arrived. All the weeks and months of planning were now coming together. Just a few steps away and our Magical Express Bus Would be waiting to whisk us off to the happiest place on earth.

Now if Dh had listened to me instead of going “Yes dear I heard you” he would have known that we were done with bags till our dreaded departure. But he insisted that we had to go get our luggage and tote it again. I assured him that it was all taken care of. "Relax, honey. I have it all taken care of" I assured him.
We made our way to the DME bus loading zone and were very entertained by a DME CM who was having the crowd sing and asking trivia questions. It was lots of fun and made the magic seem a little closer. We finally got on our bus and were headed to Coronado Springs.

Stay tuned for more. I will try to up load more photos today. Thanks everyone for reading.

Don't feel bad, my dh only takes care of himself too. He also freaked out about the luggage, but it did get delivered 6 hours after we got to our room.

Isn't it funny how they just forget to help. I can have the dog on the leash, 2 bags of groceries in my arms and my keys trying to open the door and he will be sitting on the chair with that look. LOL Thanks for reading.

What a beautiful and fun family!
Looking forward to hearing more. My DS will be 16 on our next trip. (Although I'd go tomorrow, if I had my way!) Sometimes he thinks he's supposed to act too cool for WDW, but the truth is he LOVES it there!
It always helps when I show him trip reports with other teens (especially boys) having a good time at WDW with their families.
Looking forward to the next update!

My husband is the same way. he had a knee replaced and gets the full pat down every time we fly. He can't get over it. He gets so worked up and disgusted, he is no help through security. I start priming him days before we leave, but it doesn't work. :confused3

I am loving your writing style! Can't wait to read more! :)

What a fun start - looking forward to more. Can't wait to hear about you wrangling all of those family members through WDW! We just had 2 "add-ons" (MIL and SIL) and it was crazy!
BTW - I love your daughter's name. Unusual and pretty! She makes a beautiful princess!
The picture of your son "grabbing" the tiki god's butt is hilarious!

So as we arrive at our resort I have Dh and the kids go sit and relax or take in the sights while I check in. Our room was ready and all my requests were met. :cool1: Yay Disney. Gotta love that pixie dust.pixiedust: We dropped our junk off and freshened up a bit. We grabbed a bite to eat and headed straight to DTD. It was raining but we weren’t about to let that stop us. We were too excited to just sit in the hotel room. Once we get there DS17 who we will rename Party Pooper :joker: was so whiney because he was getting wet. I tried to tell him that we never get to play in the rain so today we were just going to do it with out regret. That didn’t work, he still whined. Now last time I checked, it was girls that were made of sugar and spice and everything nice, so I was sure to cover the princess up extra good with the mickey rain ponchos. I then told him he wasn’t made out of sugar and guaranteed he wouldn’t melt. No luck, he still pouted. So we did what every parent does when their child will not be reasonable. We stuck our tongues out at him and mocked him.

I had my mind set on World of Disney, and the boys had theirs set on Lego store. So we compromised. We went to World of Disney. Truly, this is the art of the MOM compromise. Princessprincess: Brinleyella LOVED the girlie room. She was in princess heaven. And although it was crowded like you wouldn’t belive she did not want to leave. Now picture this. You try to put your cat in the bath tub(not that I have tried this:rolleyes1 ) and all four paws flail out grabbing anything to keep from going in. That was how our departure from the Princess palace was. Or at least thats how I saw it.
We managed to get out of there with out losing any of our children, and with out spending our entire weeks worth of money. After touring World of Disney, I decided that we would go to the Lego store. I know what your thinking, 3 boys+ dad in the lego store so much for not spending all the money. We walked in to see the bins of colored lego pieces and even though the clouds were in the sky, the boys were were walking on sunshine. Never mind the fact that I have stepped on probably as many legos as were in the store. Dad, the softie decides to allow them to buy more. No surprise there. After spending what seemed like an eternity there we jumped to a few more stores before heading back to the resort for bed. We have MK to look foreward to tomorrow.

Thank you all for reading, can any one clue me in on how to multi quote so I can respond to everyone in one post?

Thank you for posting! Now I can spend the rest of the day waiting for more!!:lmao:

Sorry everyone for not posting an update, I have been busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. I will surely try to post by at least tomorrow. Thanks for reading and I hope to entertain you with the rest of my report.

Sharon:thumbsup2
