The "OH MY GOD, I FORGOT...." thread

I have this packing issue...however it only happens when we DONT go to Disney...
Earlier this month we went to stay at a friends house in Maine and I forgot BFs deodorant! Both our toothbrushes and shampoo!!! BF was a little po-ed about the deodorant...but really that was it-he got over it...

When we go to WDW I just buy all new stuff and bring it with us. I pack months in advance and then that way I have everything-or well close to it...

I hate having ADD--sometimes I think about bringing the little things when we take those short day trips-but forget to pack them. I really wish BF would just pack for himself! It would make my life easier and I wouldnt have to worry about forgetting his stuff. If I forget mine I can just go with it. You would think after 5 years he would catch a clue...sometimes yes...others...not so much...

Sorry this sounds more like a vent. However, it would be easier if he just got his own stuff together and not hold me accountable for his stuff too...I plan the trip-isnt that good enough?

ok I'm done...sorry...

I had only read the Disney Dollar story one other time, so I don't think you need to retire it yet! ;) It just scared me so much I haven't forgotten it! We keep our Dollars and stuff locked in a fireproof safe and I can see us going off without them.

When we went in October our departure day was extremely hectic. I had to work that morning, my boss forgot I needed to leave as early as I did, our cat got sick, it was NOT GOOD. When we got in the car to go to the airport I had that nagging feeling that I was forgetting something, but I couldn't think what it might be. Turns out I didn't forget anything, but it was several days before I got rid of that feeling. And that was when my mom did live here, so she could have sent whatever it was if it was something major.

I forgot my wallet one day, but realized it right after we started driving. We got off the next exited, got the wallet and continued on our way. The kids splashed juice and I changed my shorts and forgot to take out my wallet. Had to hear it all morning! Luckily I realized before we got to the park.

Not really major, but we forgot the extra batteries for our camera last year. Let me tell you, they are expensive at WDW. I will not be doing that anymore. LOL

We forgot our 5 month old's chilled bottles of formula back at the hotel and only realised at his scheduled lunchtime feed. Worse we were staying offsite so Dh got back in the car with DD while i walked baby DS around at Epcot. We had an ADR at Coral Reef and when i explained why we were going to be late they offered to get baby mashed potatoes to keep him going. It worked a charm and I will always be grateful to the CMs there. Need less to say i have never let Dh be in charge of a baby bag since :teeth:

This trip was not to Disney but was our first beach week since the birth of our son. He was only 3 months old so I was frantically packing everything imaginable that he would possibly need. I had all of his things together and my bag packed and DH told me to put everything by the door so he could load the car. We got to the beach and I started unpacking. My bag was no where to be seen. I was so worried about leaving something behind for DS that I forgot to put my bag by the door. (We always do a walk through before we leave now). I had nothing. I don't need to tell you that the one time DH said "oh just go on a shopping trip and buy anything you need" was not what I wanted to do after just giving birth!!

I forgot to pack bras for myself! I always say whatever I've forgotten I can just buy. Well not bras...never seen them in the world. Thank goodness my mom is a similar size and let me use one of hers, but that meant washing it out every night in the villa sink and drying for next morning. What a pain!!

For one of our "driving" trips, I had neatly ironed and placed all our shirts/tops on hangers (mine, Dh, dd and ds), and packed them in two garment bags. DH proceeded to pack the car. About 1 1/2 miles from our house, I was double checking with him to make sure everything was packed. I asked if he got both garment bags. He said yes. I said are you absolutely sure you got both of them, he said "YES". Well, when we got to the hotel we stayed at half way to disney, I discovered that "YES" he had only packed ONE of the garment bags. Luckily, there was a mixture of each persons clothes in the one that was packed. I just had to do some laundry halfway thru the trip.
I learned from that trip that I really don't need to pack so many clothes.

Do you think if they did sell them at WDW, that Disney would try and put Mickey, or in this case, Minnie ears on the cups? :rotfl:

Good One! :thumbsup2

Can you imagine the looks you get with those ears poking up out of your shirt like that? :earsgirl:

For someone who has been to WDW over 20 times, you would think I have the packing down to a science. I always forget something!

This first trip after we had purchased a Pal Mickey, we forgot to bring him, even though I had had him out for weeks beforehand. Another trip, we did bring him, but left him on one of the busses as best we can figure. We were home before we realized it and didn't follow up on it. I'll just have to replace him with the newer version in the future.

The worst for me was our last trip in May. I had to work the day we were leaving and planned to leave work no later than 2pm. Of course, nothing goes as planned and it was an almost 4:30 by the time I left (I'm habitually late which drives my family crazy). It takes me 45 minutes to get home and then another 50 minutes to get to the airport and our flight was at 7:05! I had left all my stuff on the bed in the morning and during one of the many calls from my husband and son during the day, told them to put everything in my suitcase. I came in the house, they threw the luggage in the car, I moved the camera charger and all my pocket PC stuff from my work bag to my vacation bag and we took off. All the way to the airport I kept saying, we're not going to make it. We pulled into the Park and Fly about 25 minutes before our flight and the lady at the desk told me we were fine which slowed my heart down a little bit. Once we got to the airport and saw there were no lines and made it through security before the plane even started loading I felt real relief.

That's when I realized even though I had my camera charger, I left the camera at home. I LOVE my digital camera and take lots of pictures. I felt like crying from all the emotion at that point. My son said I could use his camera but it just doesn't compare to mine. It actually seemed good to not worry about taking photos that week. However, we would all laugh every time I saw something that I would say, "I'd take a picture of that...if I had my camera!" We're hoping to go again in September and you'd better believe the camera will be there. And I won't work the day we leave!!!
