The "OH MY GOD, I FORGOT...." thread

*parents do not let your kids swing on the station ropes

OK, what are "station ropes"?

(I might want to swing on one!) :goodvibes

On our 2nd trip - I left the MVMCP tickets at home. DH wanted to kill me ;) Luckily guest services was able to replace them for us.

Now I use my Passporter or a binder/planner to keep all my important stuff that we can't forget. (Of course I'll probably forget the binder now!) :dance3:

they are the heavy metal stands that hold the pretty velvet ropes in place to keep us guests in line. The stands are very heavy and the one in question bounced on my foot breaking my foot just above my small toe. I was wearing thick hard leather upper work shoes and it still broke my foot!

ya know ryanmilla I had never thought if the situation that way... nice prospective on it huh :p

We had just bought Mickey Mouse caps for our sons at WDW. We then went to Animal Kingdom and both of them wore their caps. My oldest laid his cap down on the seat of "Its Tough to be a Bug". Then after the show, he forgot to put the cap back on.

Once he realized he forgot the cap, we went back to get it. It was not there. Disney felt bad. Our next ride at AK was Kilimanjaro Safari. Disney gave our family a private tour.

I always forget socks and belts, and i've been known to forget my makeup bag before also. I pack for the whole family (myself, DH, DD8, DD5), so i'm suprised I don't forget more.

We drove down last month and stopped for gas near Savannah. When DH went to pay...guess what? No wallet. Luckily I had mine. We were staying at Shades of Green, so I called and they said as long as I had my ID it would be no problem to check in. We bought APs and the kids at Downtown Disney were kind enough to activate them for us even though DH had no identification at all...not even a library card. My mom and dad overnighted it to him so we had it the next day, but now I harass him mercilessly everytime he leaves the house. Do you have your wallet? Are you sure? Do you need me to put it in the car for you? :rotfl:

I don't know how many times I have forgotten to take a swimsuit. Really frustrating because I love to swim.

It's funny you posted this thread. Just today, I was picturing myself standing in our POR room, unpacking on our first day, and saying, "OH MY GOD, I FORGOT [something]!!!!!!!!"

Hopefully, the obsessive list-making I've been doing will prevent this. :)

Back in December of 2003, we drove from just north of Atlanta to just before you get to Valdosta. It was at that point in our drive down to FL that I asked my honey in jest, "You did get the Disney Dollars out of your safe, right?" The reply was an expletive that I shall not repeat. Now, Gabby is the anal detailed type and is nuts about money, so I had left her in charge of the safe keeping of the $700+ of Disney Dollars for the trip. That was the food and/or fun budget for the trip. We HAD TO have those Disney Dollars or else the trip was going to be really messed up, because we do not do credit cards. So, with Brad Paisley's song, "Little Moments" playing in the back of my head, I laughed it off and we turned around and headed back to our apartment.

In the end, Gabby ended up losing a day with her family because she forgot to get them out of the safe. Now, she will tell you that I forgot to remind her to get them out of the safe, but she is again anal and nutty about money. And in me telling her that I am posting this, she again got defensive about it. :rotfl: So, Disney Dollars are now a permanent fixture on our packing list. ;) Maggie

In March of 06 my best friend and I were staying offsite. We caught the only morning shuttlebus to MK our first morning there, arrived at the front gate and I realized that I forgotten my ticket vouchers at the hotel!
Back on the bus we went and we thought we'd be stuck at the hotel the whole day, but something told us to get off at the next stop - Epcot. We went to guest relations and this incredible CM actually logged on to my orbitz account for me and retrieved my vouchers - saving our vacation! LOL, we were so lucky - I was about to cry!

I wondered if Maggie was going to tell the Disney Dollar story! :rotfl:

I read about that on another thread in the past, so now I am sure it is going to happen to us! I had a dream the other night that we got to WDW without any of the Disney Dollars OR travelers checks that we bought beforehand. That would be bad, because sincce my mom moved out of state there really isn't anybody we could call to get our stuff and overnight it to us. I guess if we forget something REALLY important this time and we notice it right away I can call our friends and ask them to bring it because they are coming in 24 hours after we are. I'm sure that would make their departure a bit hectic, so I should probably make sure they don't have to stop at our house to pick up whatever I forgot!

I am a packaholic, I make lists, check things off as they go in the suitcase. Well one year DH, DBF and her husband and I went off for 4 days in Nov....guess who forgot to bring underwear for herself?? ME!!! We were staying at the ASMu and DH said lets go to the lobby and see if they have any there if not we will go to DTD or find a Walmart. Well believe it or not the gift shop in the lobby had underwear! Thank goodness for that

Ok, I guess this is my sign that I need to quit telling the story. :rotfl2:

Sorry, if it has become the fodder for your nightmares. :p Hopefully, you won't forget a thing. Maggie

On our first trip to WDW we stayed off site and were only going to MK for one day. It was me, DH, DS 3 and DD 1. I forgot to pack diapers. DS was mostly potty trained. In the diaper bag I only had 1 pull up between the 2 kids. We had to put DD in the pull up. DS used his change of clothes and ended up comando by the end of the day.

I was actually worried about this with our Disney Dollars. We got a bunch for referring people to the DVC. Well, lo and behold, I work in NYC and it is amazing how fast those Disney Dollars go at a World of Disney Store. So needless to say, forgetting our Disney Dollars is no longer a concern, b/c there are none left thanks to the NYC World of Disney Store.

At least we (mainly my DD5 & DS2) had fun with them while they lasted.

SHOES. It was our honeymoon cruise and I had taken all the shoes I planned to carry with me to the cobbler for new heels and to get polished. Well . . . I left the whole bag of them at home. Yep. No shoes on the ship. I had one pair of flats and one really lovely pair of white satin heels . . .

Yep. Had to go to some little store outside of the tourist district at one of the stops. . . to buy SHOES.

I forgot to get Chris's Driving License out of the hire car, before our flight back to the UK, I have only just owned up to this lol, and we have got him a new one, luckily we dont have to have them on us all the time here or I would be dead meat

To the folks who forgot Birth Control pills - why not use condoms instead during the vacation?
I was wondering the same thing. If condoms were somehow unable to get, I think I'd forfeit some whoopie in WDW than risk getting pregnant.

But to answer the original question, my husband and I both left our glasses at home. We haven't forgotten them since.

On our last trip, I forgot to pack enough underwear! I don't know how I miscounted. Yes I do, I counted 7 nights forgetting we arrived a day early...or something. Anyhow, I won't be making that mistake again.

When I went on my Honeymoon first marriage. My Ex forgot her birth control pills in the glove box of the car back home.

That sounds like a whopper opening for a blockbuster trip report! ;)
