I am so glad you had a nice time with Chris. I will certainly keep Timmy in my prayers, as I will be saying more of them with Greg heading over there really soon. Also, I keep Greg in a regular supply of cookies and goodies. I would be happy to send packages to Timmy too -- at least a batch of all the Christmas cookies I make -- if you want to PM me his address. I completely understand if you can't/don't want to do that though. I'm not sure how sensitive an area he is in.

Good news! Greg gets to stay an extra two days! He leaves Wednesday now instead of tomorrow. That means we only have one day without him and then we leave for Disney on Friday.

Every day is precious so I am happy that you have two extra. Disney with the Liam's family will certainly help.

I certainly will share his address. TO tell you the truth, I think I know where he is but geography was not my strong subject :confused3. Chris told me so many times where he was, I tried each time to find him, but no luck :rotfl:
We love sending packages so I would love to include Greg on our goody hunting. Can you tell me what kind of cookies hold up? It has been taking about 2 weeks for him to get his packages, but when I sent to Chris it took up to 6 weeks so I did no baking.
I am keeping Greg in my prayers as well. Enjoy your next few days.

Chris and Timmy are brothers, Timmy is about 4 years younger than Chris. Both are doing well, but for Timmy the Marines have been so good for him. He is thriving with the structure and he has been showing so much leadership. I am very proud. Chris is Stateside now and he brought pictures of his "birds" for us to see. I cannot wait to visit and get a tour.

Nancy--I am so glad you had such a wonderful time! I thought of you often last evening! Prayers are said and will continue to be. I am sure your mother is right with him through it all.

Laura--I am sure that the kiddos were a bit lost as to what was going on at first, but must have had a blast with their early christmas, and getting to spend it with Dad!! How wonderful that you get a couple of extra days with Greg, that is a gift right there isn't it?!!? I didn't realize that you all were leaving so soon for your Disney trip! Prayers will be said for Greg as well!

Glynis--What a fun few days you have all had!! No wonder you have been asleep as soon as your head hit the pillows these past few nights, lol!
I am glad you were able to get your bow restrung.
As far as fried stuffing goes, that is one of my gram's favorite things to do with leftovers of it, in fact I always think she makes to much just for that. She also takes leftover oatmeal and fries it as well, mmmmmmmmm, that is so yummmm!! (kind of kills the whole oatmeal is good for you thing though, hehehe)

Sandy--Well you tried and now you know, at least it was still good. Nothing worse then messing with a recipe and it is disgusting, lol!

Glynis- Wow, you packed a lot into a few days. You are practicing, but your hand is going to glide making beautiful music on Wednesday.

Hello everybody! Like Laura, I had dinner at the inlaws today. It sounds like my food was slightly better than hers...we had turkey (overcooked, but oh well), gravy, mashed potatoes...mashed with WATER, not milk! Ack! Mashed turnips, mashed butternut squash (sense a theme here? :rotfl2: ) Stove top stuffing, cranberry flavor, cranberry sauce, and apple pie. My inlaws are not very good cooks but they mean well and I just eat whatever they make...sometimes it is about the company, not the food!!

They also gave John a birthday present....it is a LIFE-SIZED stick-on Tom Brady!!! :confused3  I mean, this thing is HUGE. If Tom Brady is really this tall I come up to about his elbow. We don't quite know what to do with it...maybe give it to Liam, if it will fit in his room, which honestly is doubtful!! There are multiple clings on this item (I think the brand is fathead or something like that), including a more reasonable piece of Tom Brady throwing a ball, maybe 2 feet tall, which we donated to their Patriots shrine (aka their entire living room, and no I am not kidding, they are hard-core).

Sooo....

Here are some photos from yesterday!

Breakfast, because I am trying to use up my eggs before Disney on Friday...they are soft boiled, which is John's and my favorite way to eat them, but I don't make them often because they are hard to get right. These were perfect...and yes that is nice melted BUTTER you see around them. We like them with the crustiest toast ever and just rip in to them and dip the bread in the runny yolk:

Here is the appetizer getting ready to go. Key West shrimp boil, courtesy of Jasper White's Summer Shack cookbook:

Dumped out, with the Shack remolaude sauce...SO good:

Like Laura, I also got some yummy Nantucket bay scallops. Here they are sauteeing in a pan:

And here they are after I dumped in the flavorings...white wine, shallots, garlic, BUTTER, parsely...

I served it with a crispy baguette from Clear Flour bakery. Yum, bread! My favorite food:

OK, this photo is not food related (well, it kind of is, because I made it in the kitchen while cooking, hence the splashes), but I had to show you something funny. On Thursday Laura and I were working out our strategy for which park/which day, adrs, etc., and Caili came over to see what we were doing. When she learned we were making the schedule, she insisted she wanted to help. We had gotten up through Thursday. Caili's contribution is on Friday. Note how she xed out the question mark next to the date. ;)

Lindsay - I must ask. What timezone are you in? According to my clock, you post freakin' early everyday! This morning it was 4 something. Tell me we have a 4 hour time difference between us ;)

:lmao:

During the week, I am usually posting at about 6 a.m. eastern time. It's between 6-7- a.m. eastern on the weekends :)

Great pictures, Lindsay. :) You are so pretty. :goodvibes:

Tonight for dinner we had glazed ham, au gratin potatoes, and steamed broccoli.

Very very yummy.

Today I am making black bean chili and cornbread. It's cold and rainy here so I thought we'd have some comfort food tonight.

WFD at your house?

ETA: Updates on...

The Romance of the Smitten Kittens

Kevin came over yesterday afternoon after we went to lunch and we chatted for about 3 hours. Their date went awesome, it seems. He got the variegated rose and truffles for her. Turns out the rose matched what she was wearing that night (Yeah, the sister-in-law apparently will have another star in her crown in glory, lol! Apparently I give good advice!). They went out to eat first in a nice restaurant in the art district in downtown Chattanooga (pretty romantic!). They had a blast at Rock City (she loves the place) and got their picture made and bought a package. Neither of them had thought to bring a camera so it made sense. She is putting together one of those pictures in a pretty frame to give to my MIL this week for her birthday. How sweet is that? They met her and her mom at Beach and Cream and got to know her, so they aren't complete strangers or anything.

Oh, just a note. Robin is a gift-giver. She is the most thoughtful person you'll ever know. For instance, the first time I met her, she brought me a Donald pin (you know, the trading kind). When she came over for our big Mexican meal, she brought me a set of Disney Halloween ornaments and a bottle of sparkling grape juice. Last Friday when we had our pirate day, she brought me a treasure chest purse. Thoughtful I tell ya!!! So her doing this for my MIL was no surprise. She's no kiss-up or anything, she is just sweet that way. My MIL is going to eat it up.

Anyhoo, I have never seen Kevin this happy. I am so excited for him. No kidding, he's glowing. Oh another thing. Robin has a lot of vacation time left that she has to take this year, so she is off until Wed. this week. She and Kevin are coming over here for dinner tomorrow night. Cool, huh?

I will keep you updated on The Romance of the Smitten Kittens.

Becky- So there is no question in Caili's mind about Friday? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I love the photos today, my Dad always topped his eggs with some butter and they were so good! As to your IL's and their potatoes . I have to mash mine with olive oil and chicken stock and will continue to do so as long as Kady cannot have dairy, but water ! by choice ?????

I think I may cook pork chops if I cannot find ground turkey under $6 a pound.

I just wanted to ad that the Hello Dolly Pie was awesome! I make magic cookie bars and they are good, but this was so much better! The Truffle pie was just so-so. I won't bother with it again. The pumpkin casserole for one of the Thanksgiving threads was to die for! and will be on my menu again.

How fun to watch a romance blossom.... makes me wish I were young again.. or single...:lmao:

Well, I turn 40 next week and I've decided I'm going to get "fit at forty" that's right... I'm going to start taking better care of myself. I drank so much water yesterday I had to get up and pee TWICE in the night. :rotfl2: I love water, I just forget to drink...:confused3 I'm also upping my fiber intake and trying to eat more "good" fats. Oh, and I have to try and exercise... that's a hard one for me. Anyone have any other ideas??

Thank you for this. I have crappy self-esteem concerning my looks, so your compliment made my day :cheer2:

Lindsay- you're beautiful inside and out.... and the inside is what's really important! I wish I lived near you- I'd love to hang out, watch movies, talk Disney.... :flower3:

Good for you! I'm 51 and am drinking more water and I do eat a lot of fiber, but the exercise thing just is not there yet. I know I have to, I just haven't done it yet.

Lindsay- you are beautiful! Every picture you post shows you smiling with that long hair and pretty eyes, you simply glow!

Hi All!

It seems like I drove all over Jersey this weekend...Sat we were at MILs for her bday and yesterday was my best friends baby shower. I am beat today and feeling a bit under the weather (a bad TOM)...so Tom offered to pick up Chinese on the way home.

Dinner last night was so good, but better still because we got to see Chris.

So glad you got to see your nephew...I will keep Timmy in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Everyone,

Our little Mini-Christmas went very well, although the kids reactions were more ones of confusion rather than surprise.
Dinner last night was three courses:

Glad Xmas went well. Wow, your dinner sounds great!

Good news! Greg gets to stay an extra two days! He leaves Wednesday now instead of tomorrow. That means we only have one day without him and then we leave for Disney on Friday.

Oh, that is great - Enjoy! Prayers for Greg too.

Hi, everyone! Sorry I haven't posting since Thanksgiving night. We've been on the go since then.

Wow, what alot of fun you guys had!!!

Great pics as usual! Love eggs that way! Love what Caili did to the schedule. I'm surprised that Caili didn't cross out every day to go to MK!!!

Also glad to see that you make a schedule like me...we all probably do, right? I have an Excel spreadsheet...:thumbsup2

I started again today. I have been so bad since we went to Disney and I think I gained 8 #s back from the 14 I lost. I am starting today by drinking water, cutting back on eating and getting on the treadmill for at least 20 minutes.

Thank you for this. I have crappy self-esteem concerning my looks, so your compliment made my day :cheer2:

No need to feel this way. You always look bright and bubbly in your pics. I agree with someone else that said that color looks great on you too.

I also love hearing the romance story. What a great time of year for a budding romance!

HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL!

Morning Y'all,

What a way to start the week after Thanksgiving talking about exercise! Ugh!

Yes, DH & I are feeling on the fat side again. We are thinking soup & salads for a while! But the treadmill is blocked by boxes of stuff moved around from the remodeling. (thank goodness;) )

It's dreary & rainy here in NOLA today, with the temps dropping today. So some kind of soup will be on the table tonight. Maybe an italian ribolita soup, light on the bread and heavy with the greens.

Lindsay, Such a sweet tale of the Smitten Kittens!!! Thanks for sharing with us!

Nancy, Wasn't that Hello Dolly Pie yummy! Super rich though, at least it keeps me from eating a big ole piece of it!

Becky, Your shrimp look great! Are you sure you don't have a little bit of Cajun Girl in you?! :goodvibes

Have a good day friends,
Sheryl

Can you tell me what kind of cookies hold up?

Two weeks is about what it took to get packages to Greg the last time, and I sent him everything: brownies, chocolate chip, oatmeal, sugar cookies...I even sent homemade fudge one time. They have a cold season there, so that is when I sent the chocolate stuff. When the weather heated up, I made chocolate chip cookies, but instead of chips used M+Ms. I also made oatmeal raisin. Of course, when it got too hot here, I didn't do as much baking. To keep it from getting stale, I wrapped everything tightly in foil, and then put it into a plastic freezer bag.

I don't have Greg's address yet, but I do know where he is going to be.

Love what Caili did to the schedule. I'm surprised that Caili didn't cross out every day to go to MK!!!

She was complaining that we weren't going there until Sunday evening for the Christmas party, but we told her MK would be too crowded on Saturday. She does enjoy the other parks...except MGM. There isn't a whole lot she likes to do there except meet characters...but MK is by far her favorite.

This is clean out the refrigerator before vacation week for us, so tonight we are starting with all the leftovers I have from the past couple of days. I have turkey, steak, gravy, mashed potatoes, and who knows what else. Everyone can have what they want.

Lauren, Sorry you're not feeling so good!

Laura, Eating leftovers isn't bad when you have WDW to look forward to!:goodvibes

If anyone is interested in weighing in on our next big remodeling dilemma & want to see the ugly parts of my house, check out the remodeling thread:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=21932662#post21932662

I don't know how soon we'll start on any of it. That ugly wall where the closet was, is making us try to figure out what to do with this room a lot sooner than we had planned.

Afternoon my friends--

It is warm here today..43* I only had to work a half a day as it is DHS testing, so only meetings in the morning.

I just finished tanning, thought I would melt, between the furnace and dryer running, nevermind being in the tanning bed, holymoly it is like an oven down in my basement. (I know I know tanning is bad, yada yada, we all need a vice, that is mine and trust me the winters are long around these parts, lol tanning makes me a nicer person)

Lindsey--I love the title of this new romance..."Smitten Kittens" this is so romantic. Robin sounds like a wonderful person, so thoughtful.
Now you my dear friend, I know we all have our issues, but you are Stunning!! Like Mermaid said...you are beautiful on the inside too, I wish you were closer to Maine as well, it would be a blast to hang out!

Lauren--I feel for you girlfriend....it is TOM here as well...and the great news is....next month is should land smack dab in the middle of my Disney trip, yeehaw,:(

Mermaid--I am the same with water as well, I love it, I just don't think of it.

WFD--I am making kielbasa with meatballs (turkey) with a basil tomato sauce with fresh mozzerella over rigatoni.

OK..now that I have cooled down, I am off to the treadmill for at least 20 min....all this talk about getting healthy is getting to me. (humph..thanks for the nudge, lol;))

Good luck! Watching your portions is a huuuge thing. I'm sure you'll do great!

Tonight for dinner I'm makin' tacossss! One of my all time favorite foods since...well since I can remember.

Are they healthy...at all? No. :p Well...I do put lettuce on top. :goodvibes
Are they good? Out of this world. :D

I only make them once in a while though, :rolleyes1 .
