Well, my dh's grandmother passed away this morning right before sunrise... the nurse in ICU said it often happens right before dawn.... I like to think the sun rose as she ascended to heaven. :sad1: Since we need some serious comfort food here- I'm making a huge lasagna. We will probably get 3 meals out of it (one of those being my breakfast tomorrow). It was weird, I just HAD to get to the grocery store this morning... I had NO idea what I was going to buy....

:grouphug: to you and your family.

I know the feeling I went on a cooking spree when my dad died. It made me feel like I had control over something. to you and your family.

We're having Bourbon Chicken, white rice, and steamed broccoli. I'd better get my butt up and go cook it.

I am so sorry . You gave me such a beautiful vision of the sunrise and Angels, what a lovely way to picture the journey to Heaven.

I think that cooking is so instinctive when you lose a beloved member of your family. I was devastated when I could not find my way in the kitchen when my Mom passed on.

Thanks everyone. It was her time... but it's very hard for us. I need to go look through pictures for the service Saturday.

I got good news yesterday the oncologist! My labs 4 weeks after the iron infusion look good! My iron is now in the normal range (it tripled!) and my hemoglobin jumped 2 full pts and it almost normal.

Great news!

PS: Now you all know why I can't lose my fat a** :) , I have been subbing food...:) :) :) Its just taking me longer...I wanted to lose 25 by F&W but its only 11 so far.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I have not lost a pound but have managed to gain your 11 or so. I am so mad at myself but have not had the energy to do anything about it, so when I see your loss I see a success story.

And that is 11 more than I've managed to lose. I think 11 pounds is great and it is amazing considering you are trying to quit smoking as well.

When Erica decided to give up smoking she was told not to because it is so hard to do, and she had only stopped drinking for about one year. That you are doing both screams self control, girl!

Thanks Sandy! I'm on day eight and doing great!

Thanks Gretchen, I have some weight to lose but decided to conquer this first as I'm sure I'll pack on a few more pounds. I've been reading that even if you don't eat any more than when you were smoking, your metabolism changes. So I'm just going to wait until after our vacation to start dieting.

I am also appalled by the young people who are smoking today. We picked up one of my neighbors at the bus stop and some of those kids light up as soon as they get off the bus. They are only in 5th grade. One of the reason s girls are smoking is because they think it helps to avoid weight gain, but the reason they don't gain is not metabolism, but something that happens that blocks the body from absorbing nutrition. It is a shame.

Kathy, my sister treated me to the scientific reason why people gain weight after they stop smoking . My two cents: go on vacation and worry about weight later on. Better to have a few extra pounds and be healthy.

I've got some more food photos from vacation but I am still sorting and editing the pictures. I've only gotten through the second day of 10!

Tonight I am making sausage and pepper subs to go with the game. Go Red Sox!

Your food always looks so good! especially since we are going to have fried egg sandwiches tonight :lmao:

My DSIL started his new job and will be working during the game. He is adie hard SOX fan so this is killing him Hopefully my DS will not turn on the radio on the ride home so he can watch it when he gets home.

Last night we had Chinese food from a new place we really like. THe girls are having the leftovers and Buddy and I are having egg sandwiches.

I ran errands and went to PT today and never was home more than twenty minutes at a stretch so dinner got lost in the shuffle.

Oh I forgot to ask. Would you like to exchange holiday cards? If you do let do a pm. If you don't want to that's ok too.

Lorelei, I am so sorry for your loss.

Becky, your pics look amazing as usual...

It was a little rough walking through the campus and seeing the cigarettes and smelling the smoke. It was my first time since I quit that I was exposed to that. BUT I WILL DO THIS!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

I am proud of you! :thumbsup2

   I thought I was so prepared to let my Dad go since he seemed like he was suffering but I wasn't...it was still just as hard. I will pray for your strength to get through this.

Would love to! Should I just PM my address?

My sympathy to your family. I'll have you all in my prayers. :grouphug:

Sandy that is what I'm planning for tomorrow night! I've never made bourbon chicken, but the recipe sure looked good.

How is PT going? Has it helped any?

Oh I forgot to ask. Would you like to exchange holiday cards? If you do let do a pm. If you don't want to that's ok too.

That sounds good to me too. How should we handle the addresses? Should we PM them to one person and have that person send the whole list? Since it is your idea I don't want to step on your toes, but if you don't want to coordinate the list, I'd be glad to help.

Tonight was DD(now 9)'s b-day dinner. She chose spanish rice but I had to made it with VERY little spice to suit her taste. She also ordered vanilla cupcakes with cool whip frosting which disgusted her chocolate loving brother to no end. However, since it is her birthday, she got to choose. On his birthday, he wants chocolate cake with fudge icing and chocolate ice cream.

Kathy hope everything is going well with the quitting.

If everyone is comfortable with several people having their address just pm me and I'll coordinate the list let me know too if there are issues.

Gretchen

To your daughter

Vanilla cupcakes with cool whip sounds yummy to me I love cool whip.

Sorry I am really late posting today, and I haven't read through everything.

First, let me say...woo-hoo Red Sox!

Second, I am in the middle of three sewing projects...two of of my own doing...Caili's skating costume and Halloween costume, and the third, a big mistake where I volunteered to help make some things for a school project. I am a bit overwhelmed, so my computer time has been severely limited...except at 1:30 AM when I wake up after falling asleep watching the Sox.

Anyway, dinner tonight was pizza. I had sausage, peppers and onions on mine. I'll try to catch up tomorrow, but no promises. I'm thinking of all of you.

Good night!

We are having pizza for dinner tonight. Quick and easy.

WFD at your house?

Good Morning!

I have no idea whats for dinner tonight. Maybe spaghetti and meatballs or something else that is quick.

Tom is coming home tomorrow and just like last time, he hasn't eaten much so Andrew and I are going to make him dinner tomorrow with prep today. We are making lasagna, with meatballs and sausage and an apple/pear pie. Yummy!

Have a great day!
