We did, had lots of family over, Lauren's marinade on country style pork ribs was the biggest hit!!!! ( Lauren you have to try it! Totally yummy, a lot like ribs from a chinese rest., even our super picky people loved it!)
We did have a crappy thing happen, Alexis fell down & cut open her knee pretty bad. Her Mom (surgery nurse) and my son in law (E.R. nurse & in school for anesthesia ) decided they were going to handle it at home!!! When my SIL asked if I still had syringes for my allergy shots I literally got weak, thought I was going to pass out!!!!They thought she needed one or two stitches but with our ER wait at hospitals right now & how much Alexis was already freaking out I didn't argue with the medical personell!!!! Thank the Good Lord, SIlL had some of that Dermabond surgery glue & it worked!!!! If they had pulled out needles, Alexis & her Nana would have been in seriously bad shape!!!
Sheryl
Kathy- I have never made 40 clove chicken but often wonder how it is. Have you made it before? I have Alton Browns recipe and go back to it but then I don't make it.
Tonight I think we will have ham to go with the leftover salad and beans.
We love it. After it's cooked we spread the roasted garlic on french bread - YUMMO!
Good morning ladies!
Sheryl - Poor Alexis, I hope she's feeling better today!![]()
Tonight we're having 40 clove garlic chicken, pasta and broccoli.
Have a great day everyone!!
Poor baby! You have got to love that super glue, without it I cannot imagine how they would have been able to manage taking care of their baby. It is one thing to sew up a stranger, you rown is way more than most can handle.
I a glad the ribs were good! Did you use any bbq sauce/marinade while grilling?
So sorry about Alexis...that Dermabond is great stuff...Andrew had that 2xs. I hope she is feeling OK.
We never had the steak or king crag legs yesterday so that is what we are having. We ate Chinese yesterday.
Morning all--
Sheryl--poor Alexis......mom and dad's education paid off yesterday for sure...
I love the dermabond...it is Ross' friend, lol. (we end up at express care often......he is a boy what can I say)
Yesterday I was yelling this at him....which I never thought I would say....."Ross...No handstands on your skateboard"....my neighbors must have loved that one....yep down the hill on his hands on the skateboard......
Becky- I was carded too. This was at the grocery store the other day....felt great about it too and said to the clerk...well that made my day.....then the kid bagger goes.....yeah we upped the min age we check to anyone who looks younger then 40...(I am 33)...........yeah thanks punk, and just for that you can help me out with my groceries in the rain....................This happened the same day that Kris, Ross and I were going out to dinner and on the way inside Kris' looks at how he and Ross are dressed and said...Geez Ross and I look like bums, then turned to me and said "You are the only one who looks half way decent"...........so I am middle aged and dress bad.........
Ok I said I wasn't going to babble and that worked well now didn't it?!!?
I have P/T, and a fill on my nails today...we have no sports tonight...so dinner will be pork tenderloin with gravy, stuffing and fresh greenbeans.
Have a good one all!
hello everyone!!! I can't believe all that i missed! There was alot of yummy food discussed and shown in the last few days!!![]()
I was in a wedding this weekend and away from the computer...BUT let me tell you...i ate like a QUEEN this weekend!!! The rehersal dinner was at a place in Providence called the " Watermann Grille/Gatehouse" ..ridiculously delicious food there..along with open bar serving a delicious Reisling..glug glug glug...and the wedding on Sunday was at the Aldrich Mansion ( where they filmed Meet Joe Black)..WOW is all i can say. It was so beautiful there, the weather was perfect, my friend seriously looked like a bride in a bridal magazine..it was sickening...and the food there was wonderful also..they even had a DESSERT ROOM!! It was a special room where about 20 diff. desserts were layed out, including a banana's foster station...needless to say, i am hitting the gym today!
WFD tonight: not sure yet, i was thinking some type of chicken, sweet potatoes and salad. ( i made a yummy spinach, goat cheese, candied pecan and raspberry salad yesterday for a cookout..YUM!)
Hi, all! Today was "Walk your kids to school day" in our district. So, I slipped on my walking shoes, mustered my 4 kids, and we walked the 2 miles to school. Poor babies! They are now very grateful for the bus!!!
Dinner last night was really yummy! I did the Brown Sugar pork chops and DH and I loved them. Katie did, too. The other 3 thought there was too much "spice" on the chops. Good to know. Next time, I'll lower the amount of seasoning even more.
Tonight I'm doing smothered skillet chicken. Another recipe from this thread. I think, in fact, that all my dinners for this week are posted on this thread! DH is loving you all!!!!
Do you really use 40 cloves of garlic?!
Nancy - I just looked at my recipe for 40 clove garlic chicken and it's Alton Brown's, I totally forgot!!![]()
Hi all! I got busy yesterday and then later was too tired and sore to come and play on the computer.
Wendie Ross sounds like me in my younger wilder days. I was on a first name basis with the ER staff.
Dinner was very good. I put together a rub for the chicken and ribs that I hope I can duplicate it turned out so good.
Root beer Baked Beans
3 slices bacon
1 small onion diced
2 16oz cans pork and beans
1/2 c root beer ( not Diet) or ginger ale
1/2tsp dry mustard
1/8tsp hot sauce
Cook bacon until crisp, remove bacon and drain. Reserve 2tblsp of drippings and cook onions until tender. Stir together onion, crumbled bacon, beans and remaning ingredients in a lightly greased 1qt baking dish. Bake beans uncovered at 400 for 55 minutes or until sauce is thickened.
40 clove chicken is really good. I should make some I hear garlic is good for keeping the mosquitos away. They are terrible around here.
Yes, In fact I didn't notice it until I was typing it up just know. I've never had baked beans with hot sauce.
I hope Alexis is feeling better today. I also hope her Nana has recovered.
Now that DH has had his first hot off the line KK, he is dying for another. We don't live close enough to get there often, so the last time he knew we were going to be near the KK, he wanted me to call to get their baking schedule. Gotta love a man with his priorities in the right place.![]()
