Thank you, Lauren. Marisa keeps tweaking it. She has been trying to find a pic of Kady that is my favorite, and that will be it for a while.
Hey Nancy, Is that you and Buddy in that pic? Nice coconuts!:rotfl2:

And here I always pictured a "peeved" look on your face!:lmao:

Tonight I'm making the Pizza Meatloaf Muffins with pasta and broccoli!!!

I am curious to see what you think...:)

I finally warmed up soem of Glynis Ranch Potato Salad yesterday...OMG!!! It tastes like a loaded baked potato!!! Yummy!

Good morning all----I haven't been around for a few days as we have had some minor family drama going on............: dh grandmother has been in the nursing home for rehab due to a break, and will be leaving in a few days, but can't be alone anymore at night so inlaws are going to move her into their house.

Wendie, I am sorry about DHs grandma...vent away. I am sorry to hear about all that you are going through with this...

DS6 was Wilbur in a Charlotte's Web play this moring. Oh, he just cracks me up! He was there doing the "peace out" thing....he's a little freckled, red(ish) head...it just doesn't quite look right when he does it! :rotfl2:

How adorable!!!

Thankfully, our Field Day and Fun Day are over. School's out on Friday, but I'll still be complaining all summer, since I'm PTA co-pres next year. I'm thinking there will be something I have to do over the summer.

I am done for the year too! :cool1: The kids get out on the 18th, I think.

Tonight we're having BBQ'ed boneless beef short ribs (in the crockpot). I'm putting a few tablespoons of salsa on top for some zip. We'll have coleslaw and baked beans with it.

I've always been afraid to cook short ribs. Would you share the recipe?

Let me know how they come out.

Tonight we're having Glynis' pot roast with mashed potatoes and peas. :hippie:

OMG, now I'm hungry for pot roast!

We'll have to plan something. We're staying at SSR for the moment....waitlisted for BCV and tomorrow I can try to get AKV. So....I guess the short answer would have been "not sure yet"!:goodvibes

I'm a little jealous! I would love to stay at the BC, but it is out of our range for this trip. I'm Kady's Nana, and I am going to celebrate her birthday as well.

Morning Y'all,

DH loved Glynis' Roast! DD hasn't tried it yet, her sweet DH was trying to help out & "cooked" spaghetti (out of the jar of course!) But she was thrilled to have me freeze it for her to not have to cook later in the week. She still sounds super-stressed & I now realize I could have been helping her more by freezing some dinners for them. I feel like a rotten Mom not to have realized it sooner. :sad2:

Aww, we are just going to miss you too! We'll be there starting on the 20th.

Sheryl- Don't feel badly, you did not know. Your DD has probably been able to handle the pressure up until now, so now is the time to help. You noticed when the strain got to her, and that is the important thing.

I saw some of your posts regarding the F&W festival and oped you would be there at the same time we are.

Hey Nancy, Is that you and Buddy in that pic? Nice coconuts!:rotfl2:

And here I always pictured a "peeved" look on your face!:lmao:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:I usually just tease about Buddy. He really amuses me, and he knows it. When I am peevish I generally let him know by the meals I cook, but sometimes it is just to get him going. After all, any man who says "Don't mess with my food." deserves maple glazed pork, polynesian chicken, and my person favorite "way too lemony capers galore chicken picata" :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I have Glynis's oriental ribs in teh oven. It was a slow cooker recipe but I have it going on low and covered. I will have green beans and some kind of starch, maybe rice or Israeli couscous.

Next time, serve everyone else first and when he looks around and goes to complain slap that sammich down on the plate in front of him! :lmao: Or tell him he can go chase his chicken across the kitchen floor...:rotfl2:

I've always been afraid to cook short ribs. Would you share the recipe?

I didn't do much with them at all! They were frozen, I placed them in the crockpot, dumped about 1/2 a bottle of BBQ sauce over them and topped them with a few tablespoons of medium salsa. I treated them like other ribs and roasts I've done in the crockpot. I guess I didn't know enough about them to be afraid! :confused3 :rotfl2: I'll let you know how they turn out! They smell really good!

Mermaid02, here's that thread about crockpot recipes I mentioned: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=275509

OMG he would love a sandwich (or 5) for dinner! He be in heaven with a package of salami( I almost never buy sandwich meat, he has high cholesterol and hates everything that he should be eating ) and munching his way through a loaf of bread. Now you know I can't give in that easy, I live to torment the poor guy ;).

The chicken thing was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time! :rotfl2:

Chicken: 1 Buddy: 0

Tough to lose an argument with a chicken!

Hi All!
PS: Ladies, I will calm down after today. Field day has really been stressing me...along with collecting fora class gift. Its like pulling teeth. Did I tell you guys that my BP went down? I didn't go to the dr though...been checking it at every store machine I can find. Also, they found nodules on my thyroid...I think that is pretty common though.

We are going to hold you to that promise to calm down. Really glad to hear about your BP. :thumbsup2

Good morning all----I haven't been around for a few days as we have had some minor family drama going on............:

So Sorry.

Wendie- I am so sorry about your DH Grandmother and the circumstances surrounding her. It is hard enough for a loved one to be dependent upon another, but to have that person taken advantage of is pretty hard to take quietly. I agree that it is better to stay away a bit rather than say things that cannot be unsaid.

Wonderful advice - I wish I could do this more often. Unfortunately for me, the filter between my mouth and my brain doesn't not always function properly, especially in times of high stress.

Sheryl, don't let the "mother guilt" get you. It was very thoughtful of you to think of making and freezing dinners for her. Obviously you had no idea how stressed she was before now. There are lots of us who would love to have a mother as considerate as you.

Tonight's dinner is going to be scallops newburg with rice pilaf and green beans.

We're going to see Pirates and then out to dinner (maybe Cheesecake Factory) with the inlaws. I have to try to convince them to stay until the credits are over.

I loved that story! Even not knowing what Buddy looked like I had it pictured in my head.

Ok, I have to share- most of you have seen the photo of my "kitchen" and know what it's like (boa and all!). Rick was home Fri PM- Sun PM by himself while I was visiting up north. I sat out easy stuff and made sure the electric skillet and microwave were clean, etc. Being thoughtful of my dear spouse. I came home Sunday and guess what he ate the whole time?!? Cereal!

The excuse was "I couldn't find anything." Couldn't even find the box of healthy cereal I had! We have 2 shelves with food on them in the kitchen- there are no cabinet doors- the dishes are in the same place as the food- how can you miss it?!?:sad2:

:lmao::lmao:They are positively helpless! :rotfl2:

He said "I could not find anything."

Translation: "I did not want to cook"

Stay through the credits--I should have known better, but didn't. There is a bit more, and would have changed my attitude about the movie. No wonder I thought it didn't end well!

I am marinating a flank steak as I type. It's one of a few things my entire family loves. Thinking of making what DH calls Texas Caviar..a black bean/corn salsa to go with it.

Thanks Nancy, I was really hoping to be able to meet up with some friends for a little food & wine. It just doesn't seem to be working out with anyone. We are missing everybody by just a day either in the beginning or the end! Friends of our's here were going to try & overlap our trip but were going to Key West after. Then they found out that Key West Big "Wild" Halloween Festival would be going on & HE the big he-man type friend of our's didn't want to be there during that not so he-man type fest. :lmao: If you get my drift! Anyway, they changed all their plans around & won't be meeting up with us. I am also just missing Lori aka BeadPirate & Ilovejack02 Jenny from my Nola thread. Although Lori is on the BWV waitlist!

Is your "way too lemony capers galore chicken picata" :rotfl2 recipe posted here? :surfweb: :lmao: Serious I love way too lemony chicken!

Girl we miss when you're not around! Too funny!:rotfl:

Thanks that Mother guilt does get to me!!! Especially since she's all grown up & married, it's hard to figure out when to step in & when to stay out or "keep my big mouth shut"!!!

Tonight's dinner is going to be scallops newburg with rice pilaf and green beans.

Boy does that sound yummy!!!!

No, it was terrible. I told you I have this measuring problem, well if one lemon was good, 4 must be stupendous, and if a few capers were nice, hey I got the jar at Costco :confused3. Well, I made so much extra sauce, and puput it in a serving dish. DH was late for dinner, got in as we were finishing. Before I could warn him he puts what he thought was gravy on his potatoes and chicken. I'm still hearing about how I Nanatized his dinner that night :rotfl2:. Poor guy was raised to eat whatever was on his plate, but the gazillion capers and the lemon on steroids almost killed him :rotfl:. I have not tried that one since......

Morning all! Ugh, I hate that our laptop is still not functioning! I sure hope the new wireless card comes today so I can Dis while keeping one eye on the kiddos. Last night's dinner was really good. Pasta with asparagus, spinach and bacon.

Tonight is Spicy Basque-style chicken with Saffron Rice:thumbsup2

As you probably know from my dinners, I love pasta. Can you share the recipe? Liam and Caili even eat spinach and asparagus (not in the pasta, for Caili) and Caili would eat a whole package of bacon in a sitting if I let her.

Too funny! I'm pretty sure the only time my DH has a meal that doesn't involve canned foods, ramen noodles or microwaveable meals is when he gets invited to one of the married officer's houses. (He's in OK taking an Army course right now, for those who are confused).

Tonight, Liam is supposed to have baseball practice, but since the forecast is calling for severe thunderstorms with possible hail, I've decided not to bring him...even though the town hasn't canceled the practice yet. :confused3 However, we're still having the meal I planned thinking we were going. I am making pizza.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: OH the poor man! I guess you really should just give the poor guy his sandwich! :lmao:

I probably would have loved it though!!! And you know I'm gonna have to steal your slogan & use it around our house! Since I am also a Nana & can't help myself when it comes to following recipes! Everything around here also gets Nanatized!!:lmao:

Oh I meant to say, Lauren is that a new picture of Andrew in your signature? He is so handsome! (I'm also embarrassed to admit that I am not volunteering for Field Day at Liam's school this year. I definitely would have provided the watermelon though.)

Wendie -- It takes a strong person to know when to stay out of a family situation. Vent any time. We all do occasionally.
