I drove through Chick Fil A on the way home - another Wed night fast food meal =) I had the chicken and a coke coupon for each of us and they let me cash in all 4 at the same time. It was a $2.50 meal since I bought 2 med fries.

YUMMY.

I *super puffy heart* Chick Fil A
We do not have any Chik Fil A's around here at all ( i don't think..) apparently i am missing something tasty!

Happy Birthday Alex!!!

Please say a prayer that tonight goes well. With 7 children, we all have different personalities and some are very strong willed and mean...I will speak my peace and be quiet...only to chime in again when necessary. Thank you!

Have a great day all!
Good luck with the siblings!

We're heading to a pumpkin patch for a hayride and pumpkin picking.

FUN!!! punkin' picking is such a fun thing to do..i should do that soon at Greg's parents house...i  the fall!

Amiee I used to love Chick-Fil-A too until I took my current job. My boss honestly ate there every work day for two months. Then he went to about three times a week and is now about twice a week. During the height of his fascination, the manager gave him a cheese board for a Christmas present and one of the cashiers sent him a wedding invitation. He was too embarrassed to tell me, his wife spilled the beans. :lmao:

Janice please tell your baby Happy Birthday from me. Not to make you feel bad, but he looked so mature in your picture, I thought he was older. I know you have posted his age before, but I don't remember things like I used to and he looked more grown up sitting in the restaurant than most 13 year olds.

Lauren I'll be praying for you dear. I hope things go well for you and that the best decision is made for your mother's well being.

Tonight we are trying Amiee's bbq chicken and hashbrowns. DS requested "something bbq" last night and it was the first thing I thought of. Since that is so simple to put together, I may try to bake a couple of pumpkin rolls for the freezer. That will put me a little ahead for Thanksgiving.

I had planned on making them last weekend, but we were too busy with all Kenny's family and with his college friend. Instead, I spent the weekend cooking for the guys. I even made Kenny's absolute favorite breakfast - blueberry french toast bake. It takes a while to put it together, but I assemble the french toast the night before and let it sit in the fridge overnight. Then the next morning I make the blueberry syrup. I normally only make it for holidays or his birthday, but I felt he needed a little something special this weekend.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks all for the well wishes for tonight!!!

That reminds me of my last boss and Popeyes. By the time he walked in the door, his food was ready, newspaper at his table and he and they knew everyones names. :confused3

Recipe please...:)

Recipe please...:)

Lauren, I'll post it tonight when I get home.

I too am a Chic Fil A nut. I love their nuggets with the Polynesian sauce. Don't have one near me here but I HAVE to stop when we go to Louisville.

Oh I forgot to mention I picked up the F&W cookbook to add to my collection. If anyone needs a recipe just holler.
Janice, where'd you find this to get it? Was it around the showcase somewhere or in the shop over where all the wine is?

:cool2: Happy Birthday Alex!:cool2: Welcome to being a teenager!

Last night was panko breaded pan seared salmon with white wine and frozen veggies in alfredo sauce (gotta love that green giant!).

Rick's home tonight before heading to Houston tomorrow- so I'm thinking green onion sausages, onion, red peppers, roasted garlic(I baked last night) and some saucy noodles(the new bistro mac and cheese things are pretty good)

**hugs** Lauren. That sounds like a painful (but necessary) conversation. I hope it goes okay.

OKWMom - my (ex) boss was the same way at Panera Bread. He had breakfast there every morning of the week; usually met with people there, too. On some days, he had a 7am meeting, 9am, and 11am. Since they have WiFi, he just worked in between meetings.

The staff knew him, got his breakfast ready when they saw him coming in, and he even bought his favorite cashier baby gifts when she was out on maternity. His connection to that place was so pathetic that when he resigned, me and my collegue "kidnapped" him one morning for a day of fun and memories and we took him there for breakfast and pictures with the staff (that is now in a scrapbook). Too funny!

Tonight we're having carmelized garlic chicken with brussels sprouts and maybe noodles?

Lori It was in the booth just to the right as you enter the world showcase, Logoonside. It's a tiny booth mostly with prints from the F&W off to the right there are several cookbooks.

Hey Sheryl!- Think you can distract Rick when we go past that? I'd like to get it for him (us) for Christmas!:goodvibes I've been trying to think of something to get him for the holidays (neither of us need anything). I think since this is his absolute favorite time- I can get him this and tell him to pick out one recipe a month and I'll fix it for him. No matter what it is.:rotfl: (please not baking, please not baking) Think that'll be ok?:confused3

Hi all! Last night was a Digorno's pizza from the grocery. For tonight, I had picked up some chicken "tenders" and was gonna pan fry them with pasta and broccoli but now my DD may come home tonight. So dinner, once again, is anybody's guess!!

I'm also big into Chick-fil-a. Got one way too close to me. And we're there at least every other weekend!

Your puppy is sweet! I am hoping that the medicine works because the last time we had to out off our front yard hardscaping. We cannot put off the work we have planned so I hope he gets better. The PT told me that there is therapy for dogs but cats don't cooperate well.

Yea, I think it involves water so that might be why cats don't cooperate :rotfl:

zipuzee The candy is regular halloween candy. Bite size snickers,3 musakeers(sp)suckers, jolly ranchers, Hershey kisses, nerds, twizzlers, smarties, Skittles, kitcats, butterfingers, laffytaffy. Oh I almost forgot my favs bulls eyes.
I thought it was a good haul. I don't know what people expect. Disney tries to appeal to everyones tastes.

Sounds good! Thanks for the info.

Mouth is much better today. Today is my baby is 13 where did the time go.:sad1:

Glad to hear you are feeling better. And a big happy birthday to your "baby"! :bday:

Please say a prayer that tonight goes well. With 7 children, we all have different personalities and some are very strong willed and mean...I will speak my peace and be quiet...only to chime in again when necessary. Thank you!

Lauren - thoughts and prayers coming your way. I've been in those shoes, but in my case, the decision was mine alone. My brother was long out of the picture and my half-sister was not much help since "it wasn't her father". Good luck, I hope things go well for the benefit of your Mom.

Thanks Janice!

I know, we could keep throwing our boas in his face or flash him with our light up cups :lmao: :lmao:
Would it be easier for one of us to get it and then slip it to you? That would be another option if necessary!!

Happy Birthday Alex!!!

Janice, Glad you are feeling better.

Left over sauce for us with pasta and salad. I have to go to meet with my sisters and brothers tonight to discuss what our options are for Mom. She now lives alone and drives and is not well.

Ditto on the Happy Birthday Alex!

Janice, Also happy you are doing better!

Prayers for you my friend. I know that will be a tough conversation!:flower3:

That sounds sweet! What a good woman you are!!! I do what I can but as our dear friend Zipuzee so delicately put it, I hoping the only thing we'll need to flash is our cups!!!!!:rotfl: :lmao:

Alex says thank you for the Birthday wishes.

Lauren Hopefully your "talk" will go easily. Those kind of talks are never easy.

I feel left out with the Chic Fil A craze. We don't have those here. Is it fast food?

Oh My! And I'm the wild child?!?:lmao:

Ok Lauren here is the recipe for Kenny's favorite breakfast. I included the recipe for the blueberry syrup although you could use store bought even if Kenny says it is almost blasphemy for me to say so. ;) I think I've spoiled him a little.

Baked Blueberry French Toast
1 (24 oz) loaf sourdough bread crusts removed, cut in cubes (I normally use ¾ of the loaf)
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, cubed
1 pint blueberries, rinsed and drained (I have used frozen when I can’t get fresh)
1 tbl sugar
4 eggs
2 cups milk
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
Confectioner’s sugar (to sprinkle on top)
Blueberry Syrup (recipe to follow)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Place half of bread in greased 9 x 13 baking pan. Top with cream cheese. Place blueberries over cream cheese. Sprinkle sugar on top of blueberries. Top with remaining bread cubes.

Combine eggs, milk and cinnamon in a small bowl, mixing well. Pour over bread.

At this point, you can cover the dish and place in the refrigerator overnight if you want. Otherwise, bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until puffed and set. Sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar and serve with Blueberry Syrup.

Blueberry Syrup
1 cup sugar
2 tbl. Cornstarch
1 cup water
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
2 tbl butter

Heat sugar, cornstarch and water in small saucepan over medium high heat, stirring frequently. Cook 5 minutes or until thickened. Stir in blueberries gently, simmering 10 minutes or until berries have burst. Stir frequently. Add butter, stirring gently until melted.

I feel left out with the Chic Fil A craze. We don't have those here. Is it fast food?

It is. They pretty much only serve chicken. Sandwiches, nuggets, strips, on salads, well you get the idea. It is lightly breaded, unlike most southern chicken served in fast food places and they say they use white meat, unprocessed and fried in peanut oil.

It truly is a step above most of the fast food here in terms of food quality and taste. However, after smelling it daily for months, it kind of lost its appeal.

Happy Birthday Alex!

Lori -- You could always have them ship the cookbook home to you. Becky does that all the time because she doesn't want to lug all the stuff she bought on the plane with her. That might be a little less conspicuous than if you left alone and returned with a package.

It has been a crazy day here, so I read this earlier and am just getting to respond now. This week we added gymnastics, chess club and basketball to our activities list, so it may take a while to adjust (and then it will be time for the next set of activities!)

Dinner tonight was good though. I came home while Caili was at ballet and quickly put a roast chicken in the oven and made mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, and cheesy cauliflower. I felt a little like Iron Chef putting all that together in 30 minutes! When we got home I made the gravy, and then realized I forgot the green vegetable, so I put a bed of arugula under the chicken. It was really good, and perfect for the dreary fall day we had here.

I am eating (literally right now) carmelized garlic chicken on brown/wild rice with buttered brussels sprouts and crescent rolls.

Laura You guys eat good. All I had was leftover chicken and mashed potatoes, still don't think I should overchew. We love to watch Iron Chef here.

Aimee Your chicken sounds good too.

I made Alex a cake for his birthday Melted ice cream cake I'll let you know how it tasted tomorrow. Alex is out to dinner with his dad. They should be coming back soon.
