Recipe, please? ;)

Be glad to, but not right now. It's a new recipe, so I'm going to test it out and if it's good I'll post it! It's meatless, so I'm not sure how that will go over with my kids, but we'll see! It smells good!

Hi all! Finally had that tooth removed today so just mashed potatoes for me. I make a hamburger for Alex.

I'm sorry Wendie's surgery didn't go as planned hopefully her recovery will be uneventful.

I hope you're feeling better tomorrow my friend.

Janice- I hope that you feel better soon.

Kathy- Thanks for the Wendie update. I was worried that that would be her experience. My Mom had a similar surgery, was prepared for "discomfort" that was in fact serious pain. I certainly will add my prayers for her recovery and for her pain to decrease.

Glynis- Slow Down, my friend! Where on Earth do all of you get your energy. I feel decrepit after seeing all that everyone accomplishes :rolleyes1

We got some bad news about my Buster. 2 1/2 years ago he had his left ACL replaced, and there was no decision there. It was a grade 3 tear so we had to have it replaced or have him put down. I brought him to the vet yesterday and his right ACL has a tear, a grade 2 this time. This is an indoor cat and a pretty lazy one, no athletics for him! The vet is treating him with a strong anti inflammatory medicine usually used for dogs, but he can only have three more doses. He is already walking better, so I know that his pain is decreased. I have scheduled his surgery for the Monday after I return but hope that he is better and we can put it off. This poor little guy is just now coming out from under the bed after his antibiotic treatment. He is furious with me now!

The vet told me he sees only about 5 cats a year with this issue so a cat with two bum knees is rare. Buddy is saying he is one expensive barn cat!

Tonight we are having Glynis Roast, carrots, and mashed potatoes. Comfort food, mmmmmmmmmmmmm! :)

WFD at your house?

I forgot to post that we are having the leftovers once again. This is it for me, I will keep some of the ham slices for DH to have and the rest is getting tossed. He has been turning his into sandwiches anyway, so he is one happy camper :rotfl2:.

Morning all! The chili last night wasn't anything to write home about--there are much better recipes out there, so I won't post that one here. Not sure about tonight. Thinking an asian chicken thing, but we'll see.

Kathy--thanks for the update on Wendie. Will keep her in my prayers

Nancy--Poor kitty! I hope it's pain is gone soon and that the surgery will be easy!

Good morning!

Nancy - Buddy must be in sandwich heaven! Poor Buster, I hope he won't need the surgery. Are you getting excited yet???????

WFD tonight - The Breaded & Baked pork chops posted here, rice pilaf and green beans.

Have a great day!!

Good morning!

Nancy - Buddy must be in sandwich heaven! Poor Buster, I hope he won't need the surgery. Are you getting excited yet???????

Kathy- He is in his sandwich glory! I asked him what else I could fix for him (he is not going to "fire up" the microwave) and he said "Don't worry about me" Translation: Don't mess with my sandwiches! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Erica is going to take some things home for her and Dan. She said they are going to be rattling around "all alone" so some home cooking will be nice. :rotfl2:

As for Buster, I am hoping for a mini miracle. He his surgery was $1100 last time and is the same this time. I was not planning on this and while I know we would have it done, Buddy is cringing that a barn cat is a $2200 pet! He is going to be alone with him, and this guy sits next to him, gazes at his face and pats his cheek to get petted. My big burly DH is a sucker for animals and is convinced that Buster only likes him becasue he "saved his life" the last time. I had to promise not to tell his coworkers that we paid so much "for a cat" and of course I broke that little promise in about ten minutes :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Now I am geting excited. I have some errands and PE this morning but Marisa is home and will help me with my Aunt, so that is a relief. Kady left for school this morning and said that it felt like we were going to Disney!!!!! Why???? Because it is dark and rainy like it usually is when we go.

Good Morning All!

Janice, Hope you are feeling better today!

Wendie, Thinking about you and praying for a quick and less painful recovery. Hope the boys are taking good care of you!

Nancy, I am sorry about Buster...I'll say a prayer for him too! Have a great vacation! The weather is dreary here too.

***********

No cooking here tonight. We are going clothes shopping for Tom. He is needing a new suit and then we are going out for Chinese. He is going to France again in a couple of weeks. I hope this trip will be better than the last 2. They are going to Normandy this time and he is a big history buff so it should be better. Hopefully he'll be able to sight see this time. He is presenting this time to hundreds of people in several languages so I am sure he'll be a little nerved up.

Have a great day all!

I'm afraid to slow down! I always feel like I should be accomplishing something! Maybe someday! We're leaving tomorrow morning, and thanks to our unexpected company last night, our house is clean!!! So, all I have to do today is pack for Alan and me, pack some clothes to take to my SIL's house for the kids, clean the car, get to the library to pick up my next book (Moloka'i), run to the store for some diet Coke, and home for dinner. If I can talk Alan into it, we'll take the kids to see Ratatouille tonight at the dollar theater. Kind of a "sorry we're leaving you" thing!

I'm so sorry about Buster! It's never fun to see our furbabies getting sick! My poodle, Cozy, has a luxating patella that gives her some problems, and has caused arthritis in her knee. The vet keeps telling me that he can replace her knee for just over 2000 dollars, and I just can't bring myself to do that! I love her, but she's an inside dog, and doesn't do much running around, so I think we'll hold off.

That is pretty expensive surgery. Johnny had a fit when my Sammie baby had to have surgery on her ear($350), then 6 months later she needed it on her other ear! This dog adores Johnny, I'm the one that loves & cuddles and feeds her and she follows him around.:confused3

I hope y'all have a wonderful time and take lots of pics!!

Not sure WFD tonight. If we go to the movie, then it will be tomato soup and sandwiches. If not, we'll do a new recipe called Grecian Gold Medal Wraps. They sounded good to me, so we'll see!

Last night's casserole was ok, but not great. It really needs some tweaking. I'll post it here if anyone wants to try it.

Italian Bistro Casserole

2 cloves garlic, chopped
oil
2 2/3 C. water
1 1/2 C. shredded cheese
1 (15 oz.) can diced, stewed tomatoes
3/4 C. dried lentils (brown or green)
1/2 C. brown rice
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1/2 tsp. oregano

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Saute garlic in oil 1 to 2 minutes, then combine garlic with water, cheese, tomatoes, lentils, rice, olive oil and oregano in a 9X9-inch casserole dish. Bake for 1 1/2 hours, until lentils are tender and water is absorbed.

First thing I noticed is that it needed more water. There just wasn't enough to cook the rice and the lentils, and so both were still a bit "crunchy." It also needs more seasoning. We had to add a lot of salt and pepper. I would also put more cheese on the top during the last few minutes of baking.

There it is, for what it's worth!

Morning Y'all,

Gorgeous weather here in Nola today. A little bit cooler but much less humidity. Aaaahhh!

I did a quick scan of everything I missed yesterday, so forgive me if I forget something. I multiquote isn't acting right today.

Wendie, Don't know if you're able to check in or not. But I am praying for you to have a super quick recovery! :flower3: Ortho surgeries are painful & the docs always seem to forget to explain that!

Gretchen, Glad your DD had a nice birthday!:goodvibes Your therapists are great people, I'm sure you feel blessed to have them! On your dining, I would cancel Yachtsmen. We've been there twice, 1st time was fantastic,2nd time was not so good, cold potatoes, so-so service. FF was great & although I haven't done AP yet, (be there on the 21st) or CG from all my DIS-research those are 2 places you don't want to miss!

Nancy, So sorry to hear about your little cat! I don't know if Bob would have gone for that ($2200 surgery) for our sweet dog, but on 2nd thought, yeah he would have done it, if a succesful surgery was expected. How old is Buster?

Now I am geting excited. I have some errands and PE this morning but Marisa is home and will help me with my Aunt, so that is a relief. Kady left for school this morning and said that it felt like we were going to Disney!!!!! Why???? Because it is dark and rainy like it usually is when we go.

  I bet you all froze in your tracks when she said that! You don't think someone spilled the beans do you? Sorry to hear about Buster BTW. I hope the medication can help and you don't have to do the surgery (for both your sakes).

Kathy thanks for the update on Wendie. I hate that it was worse than she thought going in.

Janice I hope your mouth is feeling better today. :flower3:

Thanks to everyone for your Disney dining recommendations. I have shared them with Kenny and I told him I would let him decide this time. Normally, he leaves all of that to me so it is his turn to choose. I'll let you know what we end up doing.

Tonight's dinner is leftovers. I have a hair appointment late this afternoon so this worked well for me.

Have a great day everyone!

Before food talk, here is my PSA for you guys:

So, as I think you know we are leaving tomorrow morning for our trip back to St. John. Well, this morning I called my bank to check my account balance, as I do every so often. When the little computer man told me I had $57 in my account I knew there was a problem!

It turns out that someone hacked into my account and drew all the money out using paypal charges over the past two days. There were also a bunch of itunes charges, and I assure you I have not been working on a new mix tape!

Anyway, the fraud people were very nice, and I am getting all the money back tonight, but of course they have to issue me a new debit card…which means I don’t have access to my checking account for the vacation! Luckily DH and I keep our finances separate, and his account was not compromised.

I guess the good side of the situation is that I am now going on an all-expenses paid vacation courtesy of DH.

Monitor your bank accounts! Often!

OK, that over, here is a photo of dinner last night, I made pad thai:

Tonight, I am not really planning anything in particular. I sent all my vegetables and cheese to Laura's house via my Dad, I have to pack DH's suitcase because he is working really late, and we are being picked up at 4:20 AM to go to the airport, argh!

You folks have fun cooking while I am gone! "Talk" to you again on October 21st! :)

Becky-

A similar thing happened to me back in February with my credit card. Ever since I check balances on both debit and credit cards daily! It always gets worked out but it's a hassle.

Have a great time!!!!!!!

I can't believe they hacked into your acct!! I'm glad the bank is fixing it but I know it's a headache.

Tonight I hope to drive through Chick Fil A and get the two free sandwiches we got coupons for. If they will let me use them both at the same time. It's Wed so I work late...

Becky, That is awful! We had a credit card problem but now the bank accounts too! So scary! I hope it all works out! I'm sure you'll be able to quit worrying about it once your back in beautiful St. John!!! Have fun & take some more gorgeous pictures for us!:goodvibes

Amazing how much we spend on our furbabies! The dog in my avatar has a eye condition that requires nightly medication and visits to a specialist eye vet every three months. Surgery is possible down the road but fortunately the vet isn't pushing that. Especially since it would cost several thousand and not guarantee that the condition (calcium deposits) would return:scared:

Wow - food porn withdrawal is gonna be big on my end. :lmao:
Sorry about your bank account. But have a really great trip!

I don't know whats for dinner anymore. I've gone from 3 person household to just me in a month. DD is away at college and DH now works out of town and his company has set him up in an apartment. I hate to mess up the kitchen for just me. And I have no one to ask what they might want when I can't make up my mind ;)
