The Official VILLAS at DISNEYLAND HOTEL (Discovery Tower) Owners and Fans Info Thread

I have a while. My very first VDH trip is in November, and I'm planning a May the 4th trip for next year, but it is a little too early to book that one.
My husband is in Anaheim for a work trip so he went over last night. He really enjoyed it. He's already talking about planning for next year too. 😄

I have a January trip in a 2 bedroom with my spouse, my kids, and my mom! Hoping we find some mild rides my mom can go on with us. She’s in her 80s with back issues, but enjoyed a few park days in WDW with us last year.
Can she get in and out of boats and board on a moving walkway? Small World, Haunted Mansion. MMRR, Little Mermaid. Could she do Smugglers Run and Star Tours or would those bother her back? The dark rides (including Pooh) seem gentle but they can be a little jarring.

I think all the first stuff will be fine but probably not Smugglers Run. Maybe Star Tours? But she might get queasy.

Turtle Talk (DCA) and Philharmagic (DCA) have seats with backs. Could she do Soarin? The Bluey show in Fantasyland Theater (DL) is on metal benches without a back. The train is a possibility but it takes stepping up and down to load. Exploring Toontown can be fun, even if you don't go on a ride.

Plans have changed for us, no Hawaii or WDW the rest of this year so it looks like our next stay will be in Sept to replace those trips.

Sending you virtual hugs. Disney parks will be waiting for you so focus on your husband's health and your mental health too.

There are quite a few non-crazy rides she should be able to enjoy!

I wouldn't do Star Tours with back problems. It's pretty aggressive, to me. I remember once when it flung us back into our seats, my back cracked so loud that I was worried something bad had happened to me.

Soarin’ would be great! This woman just travelled to Australia and back on her own so I think the train will be fine. I’m probably selling her short here.😊 Her only real limitation is jostling rides and potential queasiness on the tea cups and things like that.

I wonder if MMRR would be possible or not. The part with Daisy does jerk back and forth a little. And some slight spinning, if I'm remembering correctly.

She did that at WDW actually! I think it was maybe a bit too jostly. But she liked it. We even did the Safari which was clearly jostly, but worth it. She’d hoped to travel to somewhere in Africa to see a real safari but was too old for the vaccines needed (yellow fever vaccine specifically has an age limit).😕

You guys, this thread slipped to page 2. So does anyone have any upcoming VDH stays?

I was there Sunday through yesterday! And will be back in August (for 1 night) and December (unless my VGC waitlist miraculously comes through).

Overall, wonderful as always. Room 547 was a beautiful preferred view of the top of palm trees and the garden villas. Highly disagree that it was preferred and will be letting DVC know too. I chatted with the front desk person in the villas lobby and she did agree with me about the view but said that DVC thinks if you look towards the pool that it is a preferred view (the palm tree tops blocked any sight of the pool).
