"The Official 'True Blood' Vampire Thread" ...spoilers included.

I"m actually ok with it deviating from the books...I mean yes there are things from the books that I'd LOVE to see on the show(Eric in the hot pink spandex anyone!!!) but the show is so well done that I'm able to separate the two and it makes it ok...

and I think you do have to remember that Eric is a really vicious vamp...he didn't get to be sheriff by being a "good" guy...sure he's charming and sexy and funny...but he is by all accounts a vicious guy...he is a good sheriff to work for as it states in the books, but he will punish those who need it.

btw...I think I did see in one the previews that Sookie is sent to Dallas. now, what all is kept of the Dallas storyline, I don't know...but I"m pretty sure I understood that she will be sent there by Eric.
Overall, I'm just interested to see what happens. I normally don't like when things change that much from books to TV/movies...but I can't help but love the show.

Maryann is the Maenad from the books... Not sure what was up with the dungeon, that wasn't in the books. I was happy that they still have Lafaette around..again different from the book, but i like his character.
The Dallas storyline is good, so i think the rest of the season should be exciting.

I can't remember, but did the Maenad have a name? That makes sense though.

I like Lafayette too. Tara's mother on the other hand drives me crazy.

I would aslo LOVE to see Eric the the hot pink spandex.. it would be even better than the vision in my head while reading the books..lol
I hope they keep most of the Dallas storyline, it was a good one. I am just so upset by Jason character though.....

Okay, just had a free HBO preview weekend and watched Season 1 on demand. Incredible show. I've not read the books, though. Couldn't stand the thought of not seeing the show anymore, so I subscribed to HBO yesterday.

Great first episode of Season 2. Can't wait for more.

Alan Ball explained Jason's fascination with the Church (though, we all know Jason isn't the brighest bulb in the house ...) -- he's always been the big stud in Bon Temps -- so not only are all the previous deaths due to someone killing the women involved with vampires ... Jason has had word-of-mouth from these women that the vampires were better than he was, so that feeds his poor self-esteem.

As for Eric getting highlights? WTH????? I think Eric is very vain, but I can't see him going the highlights route. Sorry .....

I've loved the books and I have to look at this series as a different form of entertainment. I'll be interested to see just how far they veer this year (veered WAY off the charts last year, IMHO, giving Jason, Tara and Lafayette such big roles).

I thought vampires don't grow hair. What's up with Eric's new hairstyle from the previews, too? It's shorter than last year.

Oh, as for blood and sheets, if you use white ones, you can use a clorox bleach pen and that seems to work best for me, though it doesn't always work.

Maybe the hair only grows out to the length that it originally was when they got turned into vampires. Remember how Bill regenerated in the last episode, when he was buried in the ground? So things grow back. Maybe they are able to cut it shorter, but Eric can't come back next season with hair down to his waist. :scratchin

Thanks for the Clorox bleach pen tip. I remember getting one a long while back. The bleach is thicker so it doesn't drip all over the place & get on everywhere you don't want it to go. :thumbsup2

OK, I need somebody to fill me in or at least point me towards a recap.

I do not have HBO and am so livid with cablevision that I'm on the verge of tossing the TV out..

Try this link in a few days to see if they have the episode. :) It will probably the Chinese version or some overseas version to get around HBO wanting to shut them down for copyright infringement. Last season, I caught the first few episodes I missed by watching them at this site. There was Chinese subtitling, but totally watchable. It was funny to see swear words written in Chinese.

I have to say, maybe i was expecting to much...but i was a bit dissapointed in last nights show. .

Yeah, I was a little underwhelmed. Especially when Sookie started whining again,"Oh, I just can't take this... I don't think I can see you anymore."

She likes being with a guy she who she can't read his thoughts. But then she gets all upset because he doesn't reveal every aspect of his life like an open book. :confused3

Plus, a few weeks ago, (in the storyline,) Sookie thought Bill had died, trying to help save her. She's all upset that he's dead. Now, she can just turn it all off again & not see him anymore.

What is the deal with those in the dungen turning the wheel? Is there something that tells them to turn it? I am confused by it.:confused3
Yeah, I'm totally confused by that. How do they all know to turn the wheel at once, and how often? At the end, there was only two people left to turn the wheel, so it doesn't need everybody.

I think Eric is very vain...

A little FYI: I ws flipping channels and happened to catch TMZ on TV, (umm, yeah, that's the story I'm sticking to, :rolleyes1 ) and they showed a clip of catching the actor who plays Eric, Alexander Skarsgård, at the airport. The TMZ "reporter" asked him what it felt like making the list in Sweden as one of their own "Top 20(?) Sexiest Men in Sweden." Alexander was actually very humble & modest and tried to downplay the whole thing , even though the reporter kept trying to play it up to get a tabloid scoop. Nice to see that while Eric may be vain, in real life, Alexander isn't. :thumbsup2

I am torn on last night's episode. On one hand I like that it is surprising...On the other it also kind of aggravates me! lol

I did love a few things though, like Jessica saying "You are nothing like Eric" lol
and the Eric scene at the end...hubba hubba!

yea, I was also like.. wth? when Eric came down with the highlights tin foil do.. and I do miss his longer hair..

OK, OT for a second... In Interview with a Vampire, when Kersten Dunsts (sp) cut off her hair.. It grew back Instantly to how it was when she died.. just a thought..

I sooooooooo do Not like the whole whimpy brainwashed Jason

Oh and did anyone catch Sam's statement to Sookie? " i cant be what you want me to be when you want me to be it" or something like that..

I know that most movies and books have differences.. But.. This is just way too much off now..

I think the change in Eric's hair is due to the hair of the actor -- he had it cut very short last year, so Eric's hair was a wig. It's grown out a bit now, so they'll be using his own hair from here on out.

I actually rehooked up my HBO yesterday just for the show. I really like the show, but as a huge fan of the books, some of the changes have really bothered me too. I don't mind changes to the storyline, but I don't like totally changing the character, like with Jason, Tara, and it seems like Eric. I do find Jessica annoying, but I think that's the purpose of that character. Since she wasn't in the books, it doesn't bother me.

I am very interested to see where the plot goes and how far it strays from the books. So far, it's really just a fan fiction tribute to the books rather than a show about the books.

I don't mind the changes. I love the books, and I see the show as just another way to enjoy the characters and it is nice to have surprises. I actually like Jessica, lol. She's funny. I don't care for Jason's storyline, but I really didn't like Arlene switching over...Jason I don't mind as much.

Or Tara, for that matter... or the Eric that they are showing. Eric is not a sadistic kidnapper. If he's going to kill you, he's going to bite you or tear you in two. He's not going to keep you in a dungeon.

I thought vampires don't grow hair. What's up with Eric's new hairstyle from the previews, too? It's shorter than last year.

I'll reserve judgment on this storyline for a few more episodes.

Dead and Gone is the last book in the series. I'm already hungry for more.

Oh, as for blood and sheets, if you use white ones, you can use a clorox bleach pen and that seems to work best for me, though it doesn't always work.

Jason is supposed to be a hot Cassonova, not a FoTS follower. Is Sookie not going to go to Dallas this season? Or meet, (what was his name... the bellboy... Bradley?)

Thank you but do mean the 'final, never again, very last Sookie Strackhouse' book or just that this was the latest to come out? I read all the books awhile ago and just finished "Dead and Gone"--waited for it to come out in May, what I meant to say is she writing another book after this one, if so when does it come out?

OK, I need somebody to fill me in or at least point me towards a recap.

I do not have HBO and am so livid with cablevision that I'm on the verge of tossing the TV out.

So, somebody needs to at least give me a rundown of last night's episode before my head explodes :rotfl:!

Thank you.

ch131.com - you can watch full episode on line

Was that a different person playing Lafayette? He sounded the same but looked different to me. I tried looking on imdb but they didn't have him credited in that episode or anyone for Lafayette.

Here's what the author has to say:
Q. Are you finished with the Sookie Stackhouse series? When will the next book come out?

A. I am not finished with the series. I don’t know how many more books I will write about Sookie. The next one will be out in May.

Charlaine also says she knows how the series is going to end, as in who Sookie ends up with.

I have loved all the Sookie books, and I really enjoy the show, too (I've been waiting anxiously for this new season to start!), although as some of you have posted, some of the character differences annoy me a bit. I could seriously live without this version of Tara and Jason, but I'm glad they're keeping Lafayette.

I wonder if this season will have as much of the second book as Season 1 had of the first book. It may sound weird, but I love when they use dialogue from the book in the program (or movie, as the case may be). Last summer, I read "Dead Until Dark" (again) while I was watching the show, because I got a real kick out of seeing the TV characters and hearing them say the same lines I had come to know and love in the novel. I'm still not totally on board with Anna Paquin as Sookie, though...

:sunny:

Loved the episode, I am so glad my free HBO is still good for a few more months! How many episodes are in this season?
HBO usually has 12 episodes per season.

I can't imagine her NOT writing more books in this goldmine of a series. Kind of like how I don't believe Stephenie Meyer will not finish Midnight Sun. When she wants another paycheck, she'll get over her hurt of someone publishing it online and she'll finish it. IMHO

Thanks for the quote from Harris, Mean Queen.

I noticed that too, at first I did not recognize him. I figure it is due to the fact he has been in there for a while, beard growth, etc. Plus it is dark in there.

I have a question: How do you get blood out of the sheets? I have a problem getting it out every month when Aunt Flo visits. There must be a lot of blood during vampire sex. Anyone else think the same thing? :lmao:

I was thinking that when the blood was running down her neck!!:lmao::lmao: Now how is Bill going to get that out- maybe he will get Jessica to do the laundry!:rotfl2:

.

Tiffany- thanks for that!! I like Eric to he a vicious vamp when he needs to be! I remember last season when he was in Merlott's and he did say- they know when you wrong a vamp!!! Now it's payback time baby!

But is Lafayette down there b/c of what he did to Eddie? Eddie was willing to give up his blood for him?

Why isn't Jason down there for playing a part in the death of Eddie?

I would aslo LOVE to see Eric the the hot pink spandex..

I can't HEAR yooooooouuu!!!
