Thanks CampingBandit!

We won't be there this year, but I boldly made reservations for next year. It will be our first year ever doing things on our own (DH and me) away from our families (although I will still cook for my parents the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. I'll wait a while to break the news to them. I made reservations yesterday for 7 days (Monday through Monday) in 2010. I'm already planning. I hope that when the time comes we can meet some of you there. We try to go 4 to 5 times a year, but never over a Thanksgiving. I'll be reading posts preparing.
To all the Thanksgiving Fort Dissers:
Here in Birmingham, Alabama where I live there is a 10k race (6.2 mile) on every Thanksgiving Day morning that is the oldest continuous race in town (over 30 years straight). I have done it for many years (although not the last 2) because it's a good feeling to burn off some calories to make room for the ones you are about to eat.
I'm in no shape to do 6 miles. I'm in no shape to run. But I still like the idea of burning off some calories to make room for the new ones. Would anyone be interested in maybe doing a walk on Thanksgiving morning for about 45 miutes-1 hours around the Fort sidewalks? Pace to be determined by the group but should be something we can all handle; no race, I'm calling it a walk. We could meet at the Meadow Trading Post maybe 7:30 a.m. (on the 900 loop side), get in a walk while it's still cool, and make room for the pumpkin pie and turkey/dressing.
Let me put it this way - I'm going to do a walk on Thanksgiving morning and it would be fun to have some Dissers to talk with. I don't know if anyone willing wants to start earlier or later but I am flexible.
I may post this idea as a seperate thread but is anyone interested?I'm looking forward to my first Thanksgiving at the Fort.
