The OFFICIAL Simpsons Ride review thread

I rode BTTF many, many years ago. So I don't remember it quite well. My question is...is this ride a simulator ride like Star Wars (Tours), Body Wars, or is it more like Soarin'? In other words is the screen in front of you small or gigantic like in Soarin'? My DH and DS really want me to ride this with them during our visit. I can handle the gigantic screens like in Spiderman (even though this ride the car moves all around), but I can't handle the small screens, enclosed in the vehicle with you. TIA!!

In BTTR, the screen was huge and like Star Tours and Body Wars, the actual vehicle moves. I think The Simpsons has the same set up.

Oh Tag Fairy..I am a "Proud Redhead" as well. Guess that makes me a Red Fox!

I drove all the way to Universal today to ride it today first thing when the park opened only to find out the it was closed and was down for "technical difficulties". So DH and I went to get something to eat and then we happened to walk back that way at 10AM and noticed it was finally opened with a 90 min wait. We waited only an hour so it wasn't bad and let me tell you I love it. It was smooth and not rough like BTTF. I love the screen and surround sound and the way everything just goes together. You can't see the cars next to you like in BTTF which was great (That took away from that ride). The effects were awesome like getting little water sprinkles on you and smelling Maggies diaper or what smelled like a babies diaper at one part. All and all i think it is worth the wait and to ride it. Can't wait until next weekend for AP holders. Going to ride it again then off to Toy Story to ride that.

i recieved my passholders post card for the simpson ride today.

wow, you get two free simpsons gifts with it.

but, i'm not going for the passholder premiere.............oh snap

Actually, you can see the other cars if you really want to. Just look around while the ride is in motion and you'll see them. This is not recommended, though.

Also had the chance to ride it today - as a pp stated, we got to the ride around 1030 and there was a 90 min wait. We came back at 2PM and it was 45 minutes, so we hopped on.

Really enjoyed the ride (although Spiderman is a superior ride). Much, much, much better than BTTF - a lot smoother. The queue area was really fun too. The pre-show video was good, but our room waited over 5 minutes for it to start - understandable given the technical launch, but the people in the room were antsy.

Metro west - you can't see any other vehicles, but it's a very large screen, not like Star Tours or Body Wars (which have very small screens in comparison). If you have been on Spiderman, it's very similar in terms of screen size. I think you can do it.

Thanks for that...I've done Spiderman more times than I can count and I stopped riding BTTF several years ago when I got tired of having my head smashed.

Oh no you don't even hit your head on this. it was a very comfortable smooth ride. My DH is tall and he sat on the end because I was afraid of the banging but nope there is nothing there for you to really hit your head on from what he told me because I asked if it was better. I guess they took that to heart because that was one reason too why I stopped riding BTTF. It was rather annoying to ride when you are constantly getting banged around.

i hafta wait until october to ride the simpsons..........

but, i'm learning more about it from all here that have been on it.

tanks homies!

::yes:: Very smoooth. We sat in the back and didnn't have to get bandaids afterwords.

We went on April 28th, about a 30 minute wait while the rest of the park was walk-on.

The queue was great. Loved the TV's and ton's of clips shown. The staging room before the preshow was also excellent. Checkout the popcorn machine, its popping.

The movie portion of the ride was great, very funny. The ride however, might have been the same as BTTF. Just as jerky, but this time with spray and smell effects.

For that reason, I will not ride again.

Which reason? The "jerkiness" or the smells? I stopped riding BTTF because of the roughness.
