*** The Official September 2018 Thread *** let's get started to have some fun

Ugh no. I have a limit of about 3 days.
The only reason we went is because we went with two other couples who wanted to go "for fun." One of the couples cheated and rented a tow behind trailer, and of course DH was brimming with jealousy. After the disaster that is tent camping, I am actually contemplating letting him buy a travel trailer now.

My parents are semi-retired, and they bought a 5th wheel camper. It's older, but nice... like an apartment. They travel with several couples and take their horses along - they trail ride all over the country. I could never imagine my Mom doing that, but she loves it now. Dad calls it the "vacation home.":cool2: Last time we visited my parents, the house was full of guests, so we stayed in the camper... parked right next to the back door. It was kinda redneck, but it was fabulous at the same time! We had A/C, electricity, wifi, carpet, a bathroom, and our own space. I'll go camping if I can stay in a full size camper! Tent camping is for the young... and by young, I mean under 21. They're too young to care how much it aches the next morning. :goodvibes

Oopsie another change in plans! DD and her DH are flying in from Germany. His dad is driving them to Northern Georgia to visit for a week after our WDW trip. I invited the parents to stay with in a studio (DVC points) for the last night and planned to take them to EPCOT and dinner. His stepmom cannot take the time from work. His father is (was?)going to drive 7 hours EACH way and not arrive until we'd flown home and long after checkout. Sooo, I just booked the kids on a flight to Atlanta. $54 easy peasy decision to me. They will arrive before they were going to leave WDW. No, I didn't ask them - I just got the info tonight and acted. There is a time zone thing. Hoping they don't think I am a crazy mom/mother-in-law. I love being a mother-in-law - trying for "Best Mother-in-law" but I may have already failed.
Will know in the a.m.

I should probably disclose that we camp with electricity, so I had a full size fan, Christmas lights hanging up, and a 2 ft queen sized air mattress. So not exactly "roughing it", but this princess prefers staying dry! Still, would much rather have stayed in a camper. Haha

Christmas lights are totally versatile!

Yes we are booked for Sept 10th! I booked at like 630 this morning and was just coming over here to let everyone know to come book if youve been waiting! Im super super excited about this party!

I know this is a long shot but if anyone has a 9/5 after 6p or 9/7 5/5:30 'Ohana ADR they dont want/need, I am looking to modify my 9/7 at 6:55p so that we can attend the FEA dessert party.

UPDATE: No longer needed.

I'm SO tempted to book the FEA dessert party. But we're doing every other dessert party during our trip, and DH and I don't even like desserts!!
I love the idea that the ride is included though.

My in-laws don't try for "best" anything. So if my MIL booked a flight for me and I didn't have to make a 7-hour drive, I'd be super happy.

@$79/person? Is there a better price somewhere?

so the kids were happy about it I'm pleased to report and the other i-law seems like she's okay with it too. It's a gift I want to give my child to have in laws that get along together and to be a really good mother-in-law

Well I tried to move things around to work the Frozen dessert party into our plans and I just can't find a way to fit it in. I'm too happy with things the way they are to justify it. Guess I am done with the planning! All I can do now is wait and pack and I do not like to do either! :p

ETA: my finalized ADR list:

9/1--arrival day--Chef Mickey's 2:25pm
9/2--BoG -12:45pm
9/3--Garden Grill --8:15am/ Trail's End --6:15pm
9/4-- Early Morning Magic breakfast :)
9/5--Crystal Palace --9:20am
9/6--SciFi 12:55pm/ Via Napoli 6:20pm
9/7--Boma--5:50p
9/8--departure day --The Plaza 12:05pm

We don't usually make this many ADRs, but our park touring style will be different this trip. We really want to be able to sit and enjoy some of our meals without fighting for tables and dealing with outdoor seating.

38 more days!! Still debating on if we tell the kids (DS 3 & 6) the night before we leave or at the airport, flight leaves at 6:30am. They will be super excited either way, this is our second trip. I have been making them shirts in secret :ssst:

If you end up canceling your 6:55 on 9/7, I'd love to try to grab it. Good luck finding what you need!

I vote the night before - let them enjoy both the overwhelming initial joy followed by the excitement of, hey, we're at the airport starting our trip!

28 days to go and I have been stalking MDE waiting on FEA Dessert party to be released and then it happened. And then we decided not to book it lol. I called Disney Signature Services this morning and spoke with a very helpful young lady and told her our delima which is we cannot cancel or modify Coral Reef on one night as it will totally change our plans and it's our 4 year olds only request for the whole trip. I also cannot change Teppan Edo on our other Epcot day as this was my wifes only request. I explained that I have CL Fastpasses for 8 days but not on our 2 Epcot days as I see no need to pay $200 for 3 more Fastpasses at Epcot. But anyway, she looked over our plans and said she could go ahead and book the VIP viewing for illuminations for both days even though I don't have the package on those 2 days! That is some extra special Pixie Dust for sure! So now we will get to see the show without changing plans. Yes we lose out on the after park close ride on FEA but we have it booked twice and we are doing a PPO ADR one morning so there will be zero line after breakfast. Now if I can just get through these last 4 weeks!

31 days to go-- this time next month, I should be cozy in my room at French Quarter having finished up and returned from dinner at Boma.

Made my first (and probably only) major Disney-related purchase today (that wasn't the vacation itself, I suppose)-- bought a Canon G7X Mk II camera to have something light and easy to carry around the parks.

I enjoy taking pictures around the parks-- last year, I brought my Fuji X-T2 and got some good pictures, but found it was too cumbersome to carry around all day (since I felt like I needed to have a backpack along too, to have someplace to put it if it rains, or while I'm on rides). So I'm giving a smaller camera a try this time-- probably still carry a bag (need something to put a poncho and stuff in), but a much smaller one that hopefully doesn't make me quite as sweaty.

Still might bring the X-T2 (gotta make sure I can get those awesome Kilimanjaro Safaris pics ;)), but now I've got something I can carry when I don't want to lug around the big camera.
