The Official Riviera Owners & Info Thread

No. I think there could be ones-and-twos in each category, in a way that could otherwise line up for a longer stay. See: CCV studios.

It's possible that that won't happen, and the fragmentation won't be any worse than it is now. But, it certainly won't get better.

Isn't CCV Studios though based on the type of washroom which can more so be a 50/50 opinion? It would make sense that its split up there.

The 50/50 opinion can happen with views, too--if they get the point assignments right. And I'm not suggesting that splits never make sense---I think they do. But there are potential downsides.

I’ll be the contrarian… I don’t think the standard Epcot “fireworks view” is very good at all unless you’re floor 8 and above, and as an owner I’d be quite annoyed to pay extra points for that.

Also, a lot of the Preferred view does stink. Both things can be true at once.

is this really a contrarian view? standard is horrible unless you love tarmac and parking lots. preferred is stunning and if you really want to crane your neck to see fireworks from a distance then you head up to Toppolino's terrace.

I agree…for us, the view of fireworks is a bonus for saving points but I’d rather have all those rooms be resort view vs create a new category.

Now, wouldn’t be opposed to having some adjust of rooms that need to be moved from PV to resort cirw…like first floor of bushes.

But, if the parking lot is your main view, even if you see the ball or fireworks, it’s not as good as the CBR side which I do book when we do studios.

I would leave it as is, and I think Riviera should tell their staff to refuse all requests to change rooms based on view. It’s basically a gamble and the one who screams at the front desk loudest shouldn’t get the best view.

At the point level per night, it shouldn't be a "gamble". How about they more accurately rate the view in the first place and then no one ends up "screaming"?

The only thing I like about standard is the savings in points. I personally hate parking lot views. It doesn’t matter if there’s a park in the background.

I never scream at the CMs, just politely ask and am totally fine if the answer is no

Nobody should be screaming to CMs anyway

This is giving me PTSD from when I worked the front desk at a certain timeshare property that was going to be DVC once upon a time (Marriott Newport Coast Villas) and a certain D List celebrity Nanny Jo Frost (The Supernanny) was screaming at me because I wouldn't give her an oceanview room when she wasn't even an owner, a small fraction of the property is actually full ocean view, and she thought I should take into consideration her celebrity status 🙄🙄🙄

Did you give her a time-out?

Ah yes I want the best tier of room you have. Wait why am I looking in to someone else's room?

It easily could NOT be a gamble if they redid how the rooms were split up. People then book knowing more closely what they will get.

Now consider if Disney didn't do ANY different views? I mean in the end it would make sure you can more easily put a stay together for consecutive nights.

I would rather be at the top floor not even seeing the parking lot looking at Epcot and seeing firework views then feel like I am a kid who did something wrong and I am sitting in the corner.

The point is there should be options and removing bad views from preferred seemingly would be a positive for you. You now get to book preferred and don't need to worry about some of those terrible room locations.

I don't think that would be so terrible, TBH. One of my rules of thumb: "Expectations are resentments in training." If I don't have major expectations, I'm much less likely to be disappointed. That does make the point values worse (or better---depending on your perspective.)

I had one of those in-the-corner rooms in the East tower on a recent stay, facing south. It was only one night, so fine, but I wasn't itching to stay there longer.

My comment wasn’t related to that. I’m all in for removing those undesirable views from preferred.

That is where I am at. What I don’t want is for them to create a third view because to me, higher floor with Epcot, with parking lot is not preferred.

And, I know BLT has them but honestly that is one of the complaints people have and why I’d never spend the points.

I have been able to book my specific room for years with Hilton. Even with lock-offs Disney could make it work.

I would be fine with it if I got that.

Here was our view of the "preferred" bush:
Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that view is all that bad. If I had a sidewalk directly outside my window, it would probably be a different story, but that view seems fairly tranquil...
