**the Official Project Runway Thread -TONIGHT!!!!***

I don't know if any of you are watching RuPaul's Drag Race but his show started today. Santino (former PR guy) and Merle (Launch My Line) are judges on there.

Rupaul had the guys make outfits from curtains ala "Gone With the Wind" and the folks from PR could take a lesson from some of them. Some of the outfits they turned out were wow.

Certainly not the most classy show, more like classy with a "K" but it is fun to watch.:lmao:

Is that on Bravo? Sounds like it would be fun to watch.

I set it to record on the DVR and saw that I have about 10 that are there from yesterday. I will watch it after DH leaves.....he is not a fan of reality TV and this one may push him over the edge :rotfl2:

It is on LOGO, the lesbian/gay channel.

So Nancy I guess you did not watch the first season? The eyes of "Chantel" are just breathtaking (first season). DH HATES that show and ran out of the room.:rotfl:

I think the PR contestants would crumble under the criticisms they shoot these guys. They are harsh and nitpicky to the nth degree. There costuming and overall designs are impeccable. Of course not "runway" but they know how to fit a lady like a glove.:lmao:

Kathy Griffin was the "guest host" for the season opener, that was pretty entertaining.

I think that What I have on the DVR is from last season. I set it to record both new and repeats in order to see them all. DH already told me not to expect hom to keep me company on this one

My DD stayed with us while they saved for their home and she got me hooked on the Bravo/HGTV kind of reality show and I really miss her when they play. SHe did create a monster, I never watched much TV and now I don't miss Survivor/Amazing Race/PR/Design Star.......you get the picture:lmao: But I have a lot more fun when she is watching them with me :thumbsup2 Thank Goodness for the DIS! I need to talk about them with someone!

I don't know how old your dd is but RuPaul's show is not for younger kids, no way. This group this season is very graphic.

I don't get LOGO. Otherwise, I would check out Drag Race.

I guess nobody is too anxious to discuss the most recent episode of PR. I'll take a shot:

First off - it drives me nuts that they don't give these designers more time! :headache: This challenge deserved 2 days, so it's little wonder that we didn't see fantastic things on the runway.

I wasn't too keen on Mila's dress. I think I would have liked it more if it hadn't had the huge star at the bottom. Maybe if that star had been a bit smaller, I wouldn't have thought it looked so bad. :confused3 I thought the top of the dress looked nice enough.

I did like Amy's dress. It looked nice, but it wasn't anything special.

When I saw Maya's dress on the runway I thought "uh-oh". She's one of my favorites and I thought she was going to be on the bottom. That dress was ugly.

I liked Jonathan's dress, except for the Campbell's fabric belt with strings down the back. That kind-of ruined the look, but he had to do something with it.

As I was watching the judging, I couldn't help but wonder how Michael Kors felt about tearing down Jesus' dress for being tight, shiny, and too short, while sitting right next to Heidi. Oh, the irony! And then for HER to deliver the message to Jesus that HE has taste issues! :rotfl2: She loves that kind of dress! This was only compounded by the fact that this was aired only 4 days after she wore another shiny, tight, too short dress to the Grammys. :happytv: And she delivered the 'taste' message with her hand up by her mouth with those hideous gaudy rings on. ...shudder...

Janeane was really lucky not to find herself in the bottom of the barrel. I don't know how that happened. That dress was beyond ugly.

I thought Anna was toast when one of the judges commented that she made her model look big - the death knell on Project Runway.

Even though I think Jesse is a donkey, I didn't think his look was that bad. The jacket was bad, but the dress looked nice enough.

It was sad to Sarah go. She was obviously well liked by the other models, but always at the bottom during elimination time. I won't mind seeing Megan make her exit. How did Alexis come to the conclusion that this is a "game" and she's approaching this like Survivor or something? Has she ever seen Project Runway? She's a model! At least she was the first one to mix things up by switching designers back at the farm, so I have to hand it to her for that one. I was really happy to see so many of the designers make switches this week. It makes it much more interesting to watch and also makes it more of a true competition for the models. The weaker models are much more likely to fall by the wayside.

I agree with the star being smaller on Mila's dress. It would have kicked the dress up a bit to NOT have that huge star on the bottom.

The dress that won was ok. It looked like a strapless mumu, IMHO.

The bottom two dresses were awful, but Jesus' was not as bad as that flesh toned top under the red that got to stay. I can't remember that designer's name.

For once, my willing the style of a dress from home got through to Seth's thinking. For the size and shape of his model, I think the top he designed was more flattering than the one shoulder'd number he was going to make.

This week was less drama and more "heart", less to talk about. I did think the challenge was nice in the spirit of the show.:goodvibes

I can see why Jesus went home. It was clear to the PR panel that he is just not experienced enough for the show. His dress design made the model look like a lady of the evening.

However, if we are judging sending a designer home for the challenge this week, it should have been Anna. That thing was ugly as sin.

Even though Mila's dress was too bold with her stars, her dress design was very flattering to the model's body shape.

The winning dress was bland, but the fabric on the runway was very pretty as it came down.

I think Jonathon's design should have gotten a nod.

Overall the designers really needed to use fabric that was not shiny. I do not get why in the heck they picked shiny fabric to fit the average woman. That was just silly.

I didn't like any of the dresses. The red fabric was awful. The Cambells print was costumey. No one had a chance for this challange.:sad2:

Well, THAT was interesting. It's surprising how some of the designers determine "color". I mean, the Marie Claire editor stressed that, and explained why color is GOOD on a magazine cover - and yet still, many of them seemed to choose pale shades (I love Michael Kors description that one dress's main color looked like an Ace bandage :rotfl: ) - along with Anthony's, I think, observation that Mila is one-note, that everything so far has just been versions of color-blocking.

I was SURE I knew who won, all the way up until Heidi said the words, "congratulations, you are the winner..." that the other stunning-on-its-own (vs being 'redesigned' by the judges) dress was the winner. I mean, this is the first time I remember her not naming the winner second.

I thought the redesigned dress was sexy, but it looked like a nightie to me and seemed like it would be more fitting on Cosmo or Glamour. I did like the bold color choices of the winning dress.
Mila's dress did tunr out poorly. I LOL'ed at the ace bandage question, too. I like her style, though, personally. I would wear pieces she designed myself. I like simple stuff.

I thought the same exact thing, it looked too much like it belonged in the VS catalog not on the cover of Marie Claire. I did like Anthon'y dress overall, I loved the color but there were a few ruffles along the top that I wanted to rearrange. Even though it was well contructed it, I thought the ruffling looked messy, does that make sense?

LOVED last night's winning dress!! He deserved it-- it was the most "spring." I thought that color was stunning!

Oh, I thought it was stunning - I just liked the other one better. It fits MY color tastes (and of course, I'm who really matters ;)). Do you think that one may have worked better in a different season - and so, with sleeves, of course?

The dress that won was cute however I was rooting for Ben. I really liked his dress. Emilio's was ok., I just did not like the fit of the bust, something about it bugged me.

OH and OMG.....NEXT WEEK they are outfitting CHILDREN?!!!! Holy smokes, that should be interesting.

I think we will be able to see who we like and who we hate with that challenge.:scared:

I liked the outfit that lost. Not for the cover of a magazine, but it looked like it would be a comfortable outfit for the summer. I thought the bridal dress gone wrong was uglier than the losing clothes.

I had to remind myself that both of these designers will be eliminated early in the competition and it doesn't really matter which of them goes home first.

I liked Anthony's dress. As a PP noted, it was the most Springly styled dress of all of them. Plus, I loved the color!

:rotfl2:She is 30 :lmao: I agree that it is one graphic show but already i am hooked!

.

I was shocked that so many did not listen to the direction. Color....beige, light pewter.....baby blue??????? Even saying that the fabric was peachy showed that the desighners did not get it.

I am sick of Mila already.

I liked this dress a lot! I would never be able to wear it but then I am not Heidi :rotfl2: I liked the color though, it screamed spring.

I also liked Ben's outfit. The color pattern is one that I like, it was striking and I would have noticed it on a magazine cover.

The red nightie dress was cute but I think it needed a little more length. The detail in the bodice was pretty but I wonder if it would show up on a magazine stand.

I agree that the order the designers go home does nto matter yet, they are just getting weeded out.

Gee, the first think I said to hubby about Anthonys dress was how much I hated the color. Looks like I'm the only one...my favorite color was the "redesigned" dress, but I thought it was a bit young looking and agree while the detailing was beautiful with the ombre ribbon the bodice looked weird somehow. None of the dresses really impressed me but I did like Ben's.

I mentioned to dd how great it was going to be for them to dress children. I think it will be a very interesting challenge. She reminded me that another great one was when they dressed the lady wrestlers.
