When is the best time to request a specific building? Going in October and would love to stay in Tokelau.

Another question...did anyone find it necessary to make a PS (advanced reservation) for Ohana or Kona Cafe? Is it pretty easy to get seated?

definitely needed a PS for ohana last week. i tried to go one night around 5pm and there was nothing left at all. couldnt get a PS till 2 nights later. i only tried Kona Cafe once without a PS, and there was nothing available, didnt try again.

Oh, shucks! I didn't get a chance to answer first...

I was gonna say "just this side of paradise!" :sunny:

But if you are going to send them a letter via the postal service, Tikiman is right, too, as always! ;)

And to answer Michele's question, since you're going in October when most kids are in school, you probably won't have too much trouble -- especially for breakfast at the Kona Cafe -- but why not go ahead and make reservations for Kona and 'Ohana as soon as you have an idea about when you want to eat at those places? After all, you can always change your reservation -- or even make additional ones when you get to WDW.

Have a magical vacation!

love this thread.
I just booked our Oct trip = Lagoon view Concierge....I am so excited. I managed to get the AAA rate but am hoping for an AP or FL resident rate but if nothing comes up - I am still happy with the 10% off.

We are going for MNSSHP - DD's 3rd bday is on Halloween....we are planning on having her dinner birthday at 1900 Park Fare for 12 and hoping the concierge staff will help us with that as well as booking a Wishes cruise for the same evening. I am getting so excited....we have wanted to stay there for a while now...and finally took the plunge!

I emailed them yesterday and this was the response I received....(our travel dates are 10/26-10/29)

Aloha Vanessa,

Thank you for your email. The refurbishment of the Concierge building, will be finished at that time, it is scheduled to be done by 10/10/05.

We look forward to your visit and making your stay magical in every way. If I may of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to email or phone our office.

Mahalo Plenty,

Jeffrey

So that relieves my mind a little!! :)

We'll be at the Poly june 20-24!
Our kids are older though.
Anyone going to the Aloha dinner on Tuesday 5:30? (June 21)

Hi All-

We just returned from a 9 night stay at the Poly 5/31-6/10). We loved it! We stayed in Tokelau which was wonderful. Short walk to pool and GCH as well as TTC. View was a garden view but we could see the lagoon and peek at the castle. Every night we simply walked to end of the corridor and caught Wishes and caught the light pagent as well. Kona's was wonderful. Pool was really not all the crowded. Always found a table. Overall great experience.

Which room did you stay in?

lillygator ~ Thanks for the update. That eases my mind...a little. We're scheduled to visit 10/16. Hope they don't run behind schedule!

Does anyone know if there is a food court (Captain Cook's maybe?) that has microwaves and/or toasters available?

Yes they have two types of toasters and a micorwave for anyone to use. It is right next to the condiment bar.

What a great thread! Thanks for this.

On our last 3 visits to WDW we've stayed at WL twice and BC once. Each time we requested, and got for free, a microwave in our room. It's really helpful to us to have this in the morning for kids breakfasts, etc.

Can you get these at the Poly? We stayed there in 2001, but I can't remember if we requested a microwave or not. I've also heard that microwaves aren't available at all resorts.

Does anyone know?

Thanks again for a great thread.

Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks.

I've been to Ohana's for dinner in Jan & Oct-both off season and wouldn't want to try it without a PS. Even Kona's was hopping for dinner in Oct.

grimley1968-I've never heard of that anywhere.

I did it at WL (twice) and BC. It seems like they'd have it at the Poly too, but I'm just curious if anyone has tried to get one there.

lillygator-thanks from me too! Reassuring to heard those same dates from 3 people. I arrive 10/14 so I too hope they are on schedule. Sounds like you have a great trip planned. We celebrated my DS's 3rd birthday at Disney. Concierge arranged a cake from GF bakery(I paid for it) to be delivered to Crystal Pallace for our party.

Welcome back! Did you try any of the exotic drinks? My fave is the lapu lapu!

I did. I had the Lapu Lapu. Very yummy. And out at the pool I had a Mai Tai, Lava Flow and Blue Hawaiian in the big coconut head. My favorite is the Lava Flow though.

I agree. We go every October and find it impossible to get PSs at the last minute for Ohanas or any character meal. I have 2 weeks and then I get to make all my PSs for October!

Thanks everyone for your replies :)

Looks like I'll be making reservations for both along with all the other ones I'm making! Thank god I have a spreadsheet for all of this planning!
