Can someone tell me where a Garden View Club level room might be located? Is this a true concierge room? This will be our first Poly stay, we have been a loyal AKL family since it opened, but decided to try something different this trip. This room level is confusing me!!

Here is a map of the Polynesian http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/polymap.htm and where you see the Hawaii building, that is where the Garden View Club Level rooms are and to answer your question yes this is a Concierge room.

If your also wondering the name of the Polynesian Club Level lounge is called the King Kamehameha Club and if you see my signature, my family and I are staying in a Garden View Club Level room this December.

Great!! Thanks so much for the info. We will be there at the end of October and I am sure we will enjoy being on the monorail for a change! Hate to wish summer away, but I can't wait for October :yay:

I'm staying at the Poly for the first time too! We changed our reservation from Wilderness Lodge. Always wanted to stay at the Poly, since I was a kid (and there were only two hotels...won't say how long ago that was :rolleyes1 ) I debated whether we should request a specific longhouse, or just a balcony and leave it up to fate, or the tiki gods, or whatever. Anyone have any advice?

We're also spending our last night @ the Contemporary, so we're having an "original WDW resorts" trip, I guess!

I would request a balcony if that is what you want. Its up to you if you want to select a longhouse I'd look at the Poly map and see if theres a certain location you want like near the volcano pool or near the quiet pool or near the TTC, etc. When we stayed at POR We always just requested non-smoking - which doesn't need to be requested anymore and got whatever we got. But whatever you decide - its only a request and you may or may not get it. But it can't hurt to try! :) Have fun!

We requested a 1st floor room (patio) in the Tokelau longhouse. This will be our first trip so I just looked at the map and am hoping this is a good choice. Samoa looks good also as well as Niue or Rapa Nui (hope I got those names right - I don't have my map in front of me).

We're going for the first time in Nov & requested either a balcony or patio. I'll be happy as long as we have some outdoor space. I didn't request any specific longhouse either. I'm curious how yours will turn out! Please do post when you get back!!

We are also going the end of October. Yeah Us!! Did you end up requesting. I have 3 kids 10, 7,and 5 and I did reques Tokalau. We will see what happens. We will enjoy the monorail as well.

For all of you Poly experts....Is there a specific longhouse that you would suggest for an anniversary couple. This is our fourth trip to WDW but our first stay at Poly. We are very excited about spending our 26th wedding anniversary with the mouse and really excited about staying at the beautiful Poly. We are going to be in a garden view room :goodvibes and will be there for 6 nights free dining in September. Thanks ahead for your ideas!!!

Thanks JJ&JSMOM and KJF! I will tell everyone about our trip when I get back! Only 4 sleeps to wait!!!

WOW..only 4! Have a great time! We don't go until September so we have a few more sleeps..it'll go fast but I sure don't want to rush summertime either. Its way too short here in Maine. Have fun!

I have a question for all you Poly experts. We will be checking into the Poly after a 4 night stay at AKL. When we check out of AKL we will have disney transfer our bags and we are heading to MGM until closing. When we check into the Poly will we lose any "experience" by checking in that late. I understand they give a flower lei etc, I just don't want to miss out on anything since this will be our first trip to the Poly and I am so excited!!! We will be staying conceirge so I understand I can check in at the Hawaii building. Any tips/pointers would be great! TIA

This is our first time at the Poly and I can't decide between the Somoa and Tokalau. I was thinking the Samoa may be loud being so close to the pool? We are also going the end of Oct 2007. We have a 10 year old boy and 9 year old girl. I have switched from Pop, to WL and now to Poly since I have always wanted to stay there and its my 40th this year so we are springing for it. Yeah!

Just got back and I loved the POLY too! I stayed in Samoa room 3612 . It was very nice being so close to the pools, motor launch and great ceremonial house. I'd definitely stay there again! I'm also glad I went ahead and booked "Spirit of Aloha and the Ohana's character breakfast". It was an excellent time :D
Was the Samao room loud next to the pool? This is our first time at WDW with the kids and we decided to splurge for the Poly and Wonder cruise. My kids are 10 and 9. Did you use a rental car to get to the Port? Do you think a rental car would be useful for the non monorail parks? Was the Luau and character breakfast enjoyable by your older kids? Thanks for any advice or help you can offer.

It really depends on how late is "late"? I'm not sure when your vacation is scheduled and therefore I don't know the hours of operation at MGM for the time frame. You should be aware that the concierge desks close at 10:00 p.m. That means you will have to check in at the Great Ceremonial House rather than the concierge building. What you would be missing is the expedited and more personal check-in experience IF you do not arrive before the concierge desks close.

Perhaps it would be better to take a break from MGM in the afternoon, head up to the Polynesian, check-in and orient yourself to the facility, and return to MGM later in the day. . .just a thought. :thumbsup2

Hi Tess,

I see you have your annual trip coming up. Are you doing your usual stay in concierge? I remember your thoughts last year and I had a lot of the same issues, but I can't seem to give up concierge. We haven't been to the Polynesian since August of 2004. We've done the GF for our MK resort on our last two visits, so I really miss the Polynesian.

Have a great time on your trip! Fill us in when you get back.

I just returned last week, and while I normally don't take breaks from MGM or the AK, we did return both afternoons for a break to the Polynesian.

The hotel is so relaxing, that it was a destination itself. Both of those parks are so small, that it's totally easy to see everything if you're there when the park opens. (Except the shows at MGM, which we didn't do this time, since we've seen them multiple times already)

I agree with Tess; leave for a little bit and check out the hotel, then head back for dinner at MGM. The transportation at the Poly can't be beat! You won't regret it!

Question for anyone using DDP while at Poly...

Are there any grocery items at any shop at the Poly? We usually buy milk/bread/cereal - breakfast items to keep in our room and are able to use our snack credits to do so. WL and OKW had them in their shops on our last trips but I can't remember what shops were in the Poly.
TIA!

Is there enough room for a double stroller, folded of course, and all our bags so we don't feel like we are staying in a closet?

We switched from POFQ to splurging for the POLY. My sons are 10 and 7 and my daughter is 5. I was thinking the same thing about Somoa. It would be nice to be close to the pool, but I know we will go to Epcot for a couple of days so the TTC would be closer. Plus with 5, the extra room would be nice. I am just so excited!! It is our first fsmily trip there and I have always wanted to stay there since '82 when I visited for a cheerleading competition. It is truly a dream. My husband is a firefighter and has been working alot of overtime for it. We will be arriving later on the 26th and out on the 4th. What about you?
