I just returned from a weekend trip to the Poly, and it was AMAZING! We did the advance check-in 10 days out and everything went smoothly (even though we didnt book through Disney). I made sure they knbew I was having packages sent and I asked for certain things, such as 3rd floor Samoa, but I didnt get my request. I got upgraded to concierge!!! We got to stay in the Hawaii building and it was so cool, and totally unexpected. When we checked in, we went to an empty Advance Check-in line, a woman gave us our booklet (and, like, 20 packages), and told us we had been upgraded. I was beside myself, and absolutely shocked. We had room 3524 and had a view of the quiet pool.

The rain held off the whole weekend and we had a fantastic time. The sold out MVMCP was really fun, and although we had planned to shop the rest of the weekend we got to go to Epcot and MGM. I miss it so much and I am having post-disney depression.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Wow what and upgrade! I would love to be upgraded to concierge to at least try it and see if it's worth it. We too had a lovely time at the Poly in September. If they could stop the pool hoppers it would be awesome.

Just wanted to try and reach the Polynesian faithfull - I have recently posted a thread regarding the termination of long-time CM and entertainer Lipoa, who worked as the main entertainer at OHana's, among other things. Here is a link:

I hope those of you that know her and love the Polynesian e-mail or write Disney as a show of support. Contact information is included in the link.

Thanks for your attention.

Aloha

I just posted this as a seperate thread here:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1303078

but wanted to say here that we loved the Poly!! It was our first stay there and the best part?!! We were upgraded to Concierge Level, Magic Kingdom view!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: I must have some streak of luck or a special Disney angel watching over me because we had the trip of a lifetime, we had so many great things happens it really was like a dream come true as they say!! :goodvibes

I will add more to that thread above as time allows. We loved the Poly, the place was really great, we will stay there again if at all possible. :cheer2:

Opened the post this morning to find a confirmation of our booking for Concierge in July! Yay! It's all good to go!:woohoo:

I'm sure I've read somewhere that Concierge guests get sent a 'welcome pack' type thing beforehand - does anyone know roughly how long before we arrive it may be sent - just so I'm not waiting with baited breath over the next few months - we don't go until July!

Any recommended rooms in the Concierge building for the best MK views?

TIA

Wow... we just got back from the Poly 2 weeks ago and had a wonderful time! We had no problems with the staff and no problems with mousekeeping. thought the rooms were very nice and we loved the new decor! i was hoping to have a trip report (with pix) up before the holidays, but I don't know if that will happen... i'll try soon! gotta get some good recent reviews of the Poly up!

TiggerAllie,

I just finished reading your trip report from your AK stay in October and found it very entertaining and informative. Looking forward to your Polynesian trip report! Will you please let us know on this thread that you have posted it on the trip report so we can enjoy it? Thanks! :bounce:

Thanks! I'll definitely let you know when I get it posted. I am just so overwhelmed getting ready for Christmas this year! :santa: I didn't realize how missing 1 week (and the 2 wknds) of Dec for vacation would really cut into my preparation time.... ;) Oh well.. it was worth it! If I get a couple more things done today, then take the kitties to "Nana's" for their holiday break, and finish at a reasonable hour, I may get a chance to get at least the first part done! :)

PS: We took 428 pictures on this trip! So there will be lots to choose from for the trip report! :thumbsup2

question: Does the Poly provide volleyballs for those of us that want to try out the VB beach? And did anyone happen to know if these courts are usually very busy or not? I would love to burn off some of the many MANY delicious meals with a game or two of VB during my stay. Thanks!

The only thing the Volleyball courts were used for when we were there was to watch the wishes fireworks at night.

Help!
I'm in a bind-- I wondered if anyone has any knowledge of how to get a gingerbread house delivered from GF to an address in Orlando?
My aunt is kind of blue over the holiday, and I'd love to cheer her up. Any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated!

I just got back from an awesome trip. We did not get to stay at the Poly. But going over to eat at Ohana was definitely a major highlight of the trip for me and I think for everyone else too. My son could not get over raving about that first Ohana meal! (we went back a few days later for a character breakfast too)

So staying at the Poly is still a dream of mine! :sunny:

There's a volleyball beach? LOL! I've stayed at the Poly over 10 times and never seen it! Are there nets? The only beach big enough I think is where all the folks drag the lounge chairs to and sun themselves while the kids play. Anyone know about where else this vollyeball beach is?

Yes, the net is on the main, center beach but toward the East end of it.
It's just a net though. It has often been busy at Spring break in our experience.

Sorry, I don't know if the Polynesian has a ball to borrow or if it is BYO. If there is a ball, I would think it would be kept in the marina office. Perhaps you could call the Polynesian and ask to be transferred to it.

Just wanted to post one last time before the holidays to try to reach the die-hard Polynesian fans - if you haven't heard, Lipoa (entertainer at Ohana's, among other things) has been terminated under questionable circumstances. For a more complete story, please use the following link to go to my thread in the restaurant forum:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1301868

Anyone who knew her and wishes to show support, there is contact information for e-mails and letters at the above link.

Thanks you all, and happy holidays.

Aloha

I'm certainly no expert, as you can tell from my number of posts, but I do have the GF bakery phone number: 407-824-2982, and have used it to get a cake ordered. Or, their main number is 407-824-3000. I hope one of those numbers will help you.

Unless TiggerAllie meant on of the pre-made Gingerbread Houses that they sell out of the Ginger Bread house in the lobby.

How about a call to the Hotel Concierege(sp)?

Benn, sorry didn't see this one before. We haven't always received that package which is a questionnaire about your plans, things you would like booked, etc. But when we have it usually arrives in short order after booking. Sometimes it has been an email rather than paper.

But if you happened to book through a travel agent, you might not receive anything. If you don't hear from them soon, I would email them yourself.

We've loved the MK view from every room we've had. I would just request a floor if that matters to you and let the magic work. Happy planning!

Someone did help TiggerAllie out. Sarah from Gifts of a Lifetime or something like that???

I tried calling the GF front desk, concierge, and bakery, but they wouldn't sell them over the phone or deliver them. I needed someone who could go to GF, buy the house, and deliver to my aunt. I was able to get a hold of Sarah from Memories by Sarah (memoriesbysarah.com) who did this for me--in less than 2 hrs after I contacted her! She was wonderful (and affordable) for anyone looking for some special Disney pixie dust! :)

Anyone know if there is a place to fax and make copies at the POLY? Unfortunately we have to do some work while we are there :headache:

I'm really enjoying this thread. We are staying at the Poly for the first time in a few days (we check in on Monday) so this thread has been helpful.

Can someone please tell me about the advance check-in? I keep reading where people are using it, but I guess I must have overlooked how to do it. Do you call the Poly directly? TIA.

O.k. I am getting nervous now I just tried to book a room at the POLY for my parents the same time that we are going Jan 28th- Feb. 3rd and they are SOLD OUT  !!! WHAT IS GOING ON?? I was hoping it would be empty :rolleyes1

I was trying to switch my res from the Poly to the GF.. nothing avail able for Feb 8-11, 2007.

Apparently there are some marathons going on at that time....
