With Rapa Nui and Aotearoa they did a few floors at a time and did not close the whole building. With the rest they did the whole building before opening it back up. Tahiti did close this week and they are doing the whole building. It will open back up when they are done with all the rooms. This will not happen earlier than late November.

I appreciate you answering me!! Hmmm.....I wonder if I should request a different building, or hope they take pity on me and give me an upgrade?? :)

Kaysmommie,

There is a high speed internet connection jack behind the desk. The cable is in a pouch on a hanger in the closet so no need to bring you open. You just need to connect and open your browser. I called tech support a few times and they were very pleasant and helpful.

I did resort to dial up at the BWI when the computers were down (the wifi continued to work but I didn't want to lug my notebook to the lobby). I plugged the phone line into the notebook and had AOL search for a local number. Worked fine.
Thanks alot! :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing the pix!! Just beautiful!! I can see my bldg I want to stay at! FIJI!!!
We are staying at Polynesian next year. We have a garden view room. Any suggestions on which building we should try to request as well as floor ?

If you request a fridge in your room, is there a daily charge? I thought at one time there was a $10 per day fee.

All rooms should have a fridge in it free of charge. If, for some reason, your room does not, just call down to housekeeping and they will bring you one up promptly.

Thanks for the help Tikiman and everyone!! Now another question- would you do GV with dining or concierge knowing that the afternoon/eve. offerings are just a little something and not your dinner?

We have stayed GV without dining and LVC with dining. We loved the dining plan but felt like we didn't enjoy the lounge as much as we would have if we didn't have the dining plan. If we ever did LVC again, we wouldn't do the dining plan.

With all that said, if we could plan another Poly trip, we would stay GV with the dining plan because we truly enjoyed having it and any room at the Poly is great!

We will be there the 1st - 11th of December. I would love to meet you, Tikiman, and anyone else there during that time.

Tikiman answered his for me a while back:

Well once every room is done and it is based on view and location I would have my list as #1 and #2 for garden views as this:

1. Tokelau for larger rooms, balconies on both upper floors, central location to everything and best of all many of the rooms have great lagoon views and even views of the fireworks and castle.
2. Samoa for its location and it has either a view of the quiet pool or of the Volcano pool with the lagoon off to the right. The corner room on the upper floors has a glimpse of the castle and fireworks.

Those are just my pics. Fiji is a great longhouse also. Just not my favorite. It would be the next on the list though.

Yes ... stay away from Figi GV so I can be sure to get a good room there in October 2007 ... hee hee hee. (I loved Figi but I bet there are so many lovely rooms at the Poly that it is nice to be in ANY of them!).

Just curious what others really like about staying concierge ... with the DP, I don't think I need extra snacks -- and the times it is offered I plan to be in a park or eating at a restaurant. What great things do others love about concierge?

I was pricing out a room for next Oct and concierge lagoon view is just so over my budget. We are staying this November 2006 in the Honeymoon room which is conceirge but away from the Hawaii Longhouse -- so unless I win the lottery I think I will have to do GV (non-concierge) next Oct, but it will be fun to experience it for a few days over my anniversary.

That being said ... what is turn-down service???? My DH and I get that staying concierge and not sure what it is ... though if it involves leaving me a chocolate ... I will be happy. :sunny:

Do all the rooms that have been renovated have the new headboards ? I am thinking of changing from CR to Poly which is my favorite deluxe resort , but only if the rooms are done.

No, not all the rooms have the headboards installed. Would that really be a deciding factor for you?

Sounds like a great idea. How about a drink at Tambu's one night after the parks? Again, we're there Dec 6-12

I have a question for people who have stayed at Poly concierge before. In the past, when we have stayed concierge (at other hotels at WDW and other destinations) we ate our breakfast in the lounge. We would eat lunch in a restaurant. Then we'd have the snacks in the evening at the lounge. But then we really weren't hungry for dinner.

So, what do you do for dinner? I think a true TS meal would be too much. Should we just go without dinner reservations and pick up a snack (crepe, skoolbread, CS meal) at the parks later for dinner/dessert? Does this make sense or will we regret not having ADRs?

Whatever we do, we dont want to skip the snacks in the concierge lounge -- it's one of the reasons we're paying so much to stay concierge. Any advice, ideas would be appreciated.

We make dinner reservations. We then often just order an entree at dinner after having appetizers in the lounge. One night we did cancel a reservation at Jiko because we were so sated from the great little beef sandwiches but we really should have had something more. ;)

We have also had appetizers in the lounge and then ordered a burger for our son and something to share from room service a bit later.

Have fun! It is great and I'm looking forward to going back! :woohoo:
