Holy Cow you guys are fast!

I am letting Molly cry (scream) it out right now...she is soooo tired, but just fights it. I think it's good that you are trying to let Jimmy cry it out Lissawynn; otherwise they can really turn into bears the older they get and don't know how to self-soothe. JMHO.

Molly isn't a huge fan of the stage 3 food either, although she likes the lasagne & spaghetti ones. For that matter, she likes those kinds of big people foods, but mushed up. Even pizza cut up into teeny tiny pieces she inhales. She also likes chicken (but flavored- like if I marinate the chicken in something and then shred some for her she just LOVES it)...I agree with the yogurts, american cheeses (my boys would eat so much of that stuff when they were littler it was crazy!)....I think you're fine with letting him have the whole milk....he's over 11 months, right? I mean, they say 12 months, but with the boys I started diluting their formula with whole milk around 11, 11.5 months anyway, just to see how they would start tolerating it. (they were still nursing too).

WELCOME BENJAMIN! I hope that your incision heals very quickly and you aren't readmitted- welcome to our moms board! :grouphug:

Love the pics of Liam rolling over - too cute.
Have fun seeing Tim McGraw! :cheer2:

Oooooooooooo....Mall of America----sounds awesome Tamie! Wish I could come! I bet they have a great Gymbo! :teeth: I read the sneak preview of the next line and I'm in HUGE trouble- cute turtles, frogs, navy blues and greens- I love that look for girls and boys. I think I read whales and anchors for boys---to die for. I have 3 Gymbucks and I'm saving them for that stuff!

Val- Molly was a PERFECT sleeper too until about 5 months....then she got farty and would need this rocking to sleep business, or eating to sleep. No more just laying her down awake in her crib without a FIT. (like now- she's STILL screaming! Not just crying SCREAMING...ughhhh). I think they just go through stages sometimes and it's irritating, isn't it?

SL- Lucas looks DARLING with Santa- you must be so proud! He's a cutie!

Diapers- I love Pampers Cruisers too. Swear by them. Never had a leak unless she had gone too long without a change.

I'm doing a bit better today. MIL will be here soon, but at least it will be a distraction at this point and the boys are mega excited to see her. Thank you all for the compliments on my kids! :cloud9:

I have been so sick since yesterday around noon so once again I have to catch up on this thread. I almost feel like I have the flu, but it's weird. I got really achey yesterday at the mall (we took Madison to see Santa) to the point where I asked my husband if we could just go home after Santa (and for me to want to leave the mall really says something about how I felt). I got home and took my temp. and sure enough I had a fever. But that was it, achey and fever, no other symptoms. I took some Motrin twice yesterday but it only seemed to help for about an hour or so and I had to wait so long to be able to take more. I went to bed around 10 (only cause I had to stay up to watch Amazing Race) and didn't really wake up till noon today. Luckily Joey is home today so he took Madison to school and picked her up. He also had to feed and dress her. For him this is huge as he's never done any of those things alone. I feel a little better now, not really too achey, but still have a low fever and feel kinda weird. And I was supposed to meet a friend today and she told me (she's pregnant with #2) that this is how she felt before she found out she was pregnant both times. So that didn't help me feel much better, though I really think it is just some sort of virus. Of course, today was the only flu shot clinic not cancelled in this area and I am sick so I can't get the shot.

I still haven't read all the posts, but have read this page so I'll try to respond. Lissawynn, Madison was the same way. She'd never eat Stage 3 foods. They're all pretty nasty combinations, like full meals mashed up, so I don't blame kids for not liking them. Rice is one of Madison's favorite foods, but Jimmy didn't like that I guess. Hmm, Madison also loves pasta, hot dogs, black beans, yogurt (specifically the drinkable YoBaby) and well, I think that's about it. Oh, wait, no, she likes cereals too, dry and oatmeal (real oatmeal though, not baby, we get Earth's Best Toddler Oatmeal, which is basically regular oatmeal but has Elmo or Zoe on the boxes). I usually mix 1/3-1/2 a jar of baby food sweet potatoes in with her oatmeal, otherwise she wouldn't eat vegetables ever. She used to eat green beans but has given them up, along with all other foods she used to eat. Since Jimmy is okay with milk then I would try some yogurt. Also, if you get whole wheat pasta it's not too bad (I feel like all my kid eats are carbs). And Madison often ate sporadically, and in fact still does. But it's worse now, what I mean is that some days she eats basically nothing (like yesterday-she had oatmeal for breakfast, a handful of rice, black beans, and mac and cheese for lunch/dinner and that was it for the day) but other days she'll do okay eating. She never really eats a lot though. Oh, the other thing she likes are crackers, so again, we buy whole wheat crackers. The only thing that I would do would be try to get him to take some formula, even if you have to mix it with other things. Milk is good, but doesn't have all the vitamins and stuff in formula. So when he's not eating a lot, at least you know the formula has what he needs. That was my only consolation with Madison at that age, that when she wouldn't eat anything all day at least she had breastmilk. Overall though, I wouldn't worry about it too much, cause the way I look at it is that if they're hungry, they'll eat. Babies aren't going to starve themselves so even if they don't eat much one day, they'll make up for it.

Hillbeans, great photos of Liam rolling over! He looks like he's really trying hard. Madison was an early roller too so I know what you mean about babyproofing while they're still so tiny.

Daydreamer64, welcome and congrats on your new little boy! I'll have you both in my thoughts for a speedy recovery.

Vald, good to hear that Katrina is doing better. Hopefully she'll start sleeping better again soon.

It's funny to hear some of you say your baby doesn't sleep as well when your husband isn't home. Madison sleeps perfectly when it's just me and her. When Joey's here she wakes up once or twice each night. I don't have to get up with her or anything, she settles herself (finally, it only took 19 months), but it's still not fun to wake up during the night. I guess that's a good thing to Joey being away from home or on call so frequently.

Wow, I miss one day and I can't keep up. I've been trying to be good and stay away from the DIS while I'm at work. I'm falling way behind in my grading. I'm also getting ready for Emily's sleep over party on Friday night. I was out shopping for crafts for them to do. Thank goodness she is better. Antibiotics are a wonderful thing. I love looking at all the pictures. I still haven't mastered posting them and I don't have the time to learn. Oh well! I finally have a contract at work :cheer2: . I have been working without a raise all year so far. I was amazed at the idiots who complained about our contracts. We are the highest paid in our county and average a 4.85 percent raise each year. I don't know too many teachers that make as much as I do. Yet, stupid people complain about the stupidest things. The coaches were mad becasue they only got a fifty dollar raise. Yet, they are the highest paid coaches in the county. I felt like telling them to leave the district. They don't teach anyway. These are people who work on their sports "stuff" all day and don't teach while their students run wild. Anyway, I'm happy with what we got.

I'm so glad I have this thread though- I really feel like I have some cyber friends out there- while I have my 'real' friends here and just a phone call away, sometimes I just don't even want to say some of these things out loud.

I know exactly what you mean and I'm glad we're here for you. It's nice to know you can hop on the computer and "talk" to people who have so much in common with you. BTW, I love the pictures of the kids in front of the tree.

Hillbeans - The pictures of Aidan rolling over are so cute. He looks mad in the second one.

justhat - I hope you feel better.

Daydreamer - Welcome and congratulations!

I ordered a Bumbo seat for Cam and it came today, I attached a picture of her sitting in it....to my siggie.

Zalansky - I absolutely love the Bumbo seats! I wish I had bought Aidan's a lot earlier than I did. He loves being in his and now that he has outgrown his infant carrier , it's so convenient to bring with us so he can still go everywhere.

Bellacam, I am so glad I found out about this seat! Cameryn will only be 3 months old this week and her head is still a bit wobbly so she can't sit in it for more than a minute or two because her head starts flopping back and forth...and she gets fussy. I am hoping as her neck muscles get stronger she will enjoy the seat more, it is a great idea!!! Here is another one of her in it, it cracks me up, her sitting in the seat!

Good evening, ladies. I am sitting here in the semi-dark staring at my tree and watching the last few minutes of Martha's Apprentice. My DH isn't home from work yet and probably won't be for some time. He is doing MUCH better with his new job and has been working overtime every night since last Friday. I am relieved b/c the overtime pay will help with some holiday expenses.

I have secured a magician for Jimmy's first b-day party! One of my former students does magic shows and is an outstanding performer. I am hoping he can keep the kids engaged for at least 1/2 an hour or so.

Hand me a spoon and just call me a pot stirrer...I will try to explain.
I think I mentioned one of my good friends is expecting in May. We work together and she is married to DH's cousin (her MIL and my MIL are sisters). Her MIL is overbearing to say the least and has been making some really nasty comments the last several weeks concerning her weight (she started out at probably 110 lbs. and has gained maybe 10-15 lbs.). Anyway, to make things worse my friend's MIL lives next door to her son's ex-SIL. She is constantly talking to her about Jen (my friend). The ex-SIL works in the bank where my sister does her work banking. So today the ex-SIL starts talking about Jen to my sister. My sis kind of blows her off, but she keeps going on about stuff. My sister tells me, so I told Jen. Are you still with me?
Anyway, Jen has had it with her MIL. She tells her DH what her mom is up to today, so he calls his mom and pretty much tells her enough is enough.
Here comes the tricky part. Jen's MIL is our school's nurse. She also works on several projects with my sister (our district's food service dr.). I think I may have made our lives difficult.
Tomorrow should be a fun day... :rolleyes1

zalansky - I wish I would have had one of those seats for Jimmy!

DisKim - We have been w/o a contract since school started and it's not looking good for one any time soon. Things are going to get bad and I'm saving my summer school money for my "strike fund". I have a feeling things are going to get ugly all too quickly come the end of the school year.

Tonight Jimmy ate the soft inside of a bagel, a jar of bananas and strawberries, some animal cracker legs, and juice. It took me some time, but he's sleeping in his crib. I actually sat on the floor next to the crib, smooshed the bumper down, and patted Jimmy until he fell asleep. I tried letting him cry while I washed my face and removed my contacts, but he started to get really upset. I'm hoping he's good for the night.

We're supposed to be getting about six inches of snow tomorrow night into Friday. A snow day would be fabulous. I could finish my wrapping and do lots of laundry.

Have a good night my cyber pals!

NonniePopPoPXmas.jpg

This is a picture of my Nonnie and PopPop circa Christmas 1978 or so. I think this was the year my sister and I got the Playdoh barber shop or Barbie head that you could put make-up on.
I was scanning some old pics of my sister and me and thought it would be nice to share. Jimmy is named after my PopPop. He passed away in 1980 and Nonnie (or Dead Nonnie as I call her) passed away in 2001.
This was taken at their house (where my oldest sis lives now). I have to chuckle b/c Nonnie always took her glasses off when she had her pic taken. I think she's holding them in her hand.
I know Nonnie and PopPop would get such a kick out of Jimmy!

I love seeing older pics! Especially from the era when we were all growing up, love the 70's fashionistas, that was cool of you to share....oh and I love the pic of sweet little Jimmy and his cute hat on!!

It is so hard to keep up with this thread.

I've heard that the Wal-Mart brand of diapers (White Cloud) is pretty good as well, but I haven't tried them.

Jenna doesn't eat much baby food either. I spoke with her Dr. about it, and the Dr. said (no more monkeys jumping on the bed- sorry) that it is probably because she is smart enough to know that the stuff doesn't taste very good. She said to just start feeding her regular food that is appropriate for her age. She loves shredded cheese and yogurt.

I wish I would have know what those seats were called when Jenna was younger. She sat in one when she went to daycare, and I could never find them in the stores.

Jenna has slept in her crib since the day we brought her home from the hospital. She is pretty good about putting herslef to sleep. She has been waking up in the middle of the night lately as well. I think it is due to teething and being hungry.

Isn't it a shame that teachers always have to wonder what they are going to get paid, even after the school year has started. I can't think of many other professions that are treated that way. :sad2:

Hi, all! I have not been online all day until now and I seriously cannot believe how fast this thread is moving!!!

Well, it looks like everyone has received their exchange gifts except SL but don't worry Jennifer, you should be receiving yours in the next day or 2 I think! Thanks everyone for participating! This was really fun and I am glad everyone enjoyed it! I am also glad everyone sent theirs and no one backed out at the last minute. :cheer2:

Well, Scott went to the podiatrist this morning and he is going to have to have minor surgery on his toe on Dec. 29. He has had his toenail removed twice by his regular dr. and it keeps coming back ingrown and infected. I am the one that finally told him as soon as the new insurance kicked in (which it did as of Dec. 1) that he needed to go to an actual podiatrist and see what was causing this and what could be done. I even made the appt. for him b/c it has been going on for 2-3 years now and it is time to get it taken care of once and for all! Well anyway we finally got to the root of the problem. Seems that the reason it keeps growing back has something to do with the nerve endings at the base of his toe. The other dr. simply removed the toenail. The podiatrist is going to operate on the nerve endings. He came highly recommended by a couple of people we trust so I trust he knows what he's doing. The podiatrist said that this is usually a hereditary problem. We don't know who he would have inherited it from since his dad walked out when he was 4 months old and he has a half sister and grandparents, etc., that he has never even met. We don't think it is from his mom's side but who knows? :confused3 Anyway, he has to go the dr. next week and take a fasting glucose blood sugar test to make sure he doesn't have diabetes before they mess with his toe (I'm pretty certain he doesn't) and then his surgery is the 29th. I will be glad when it is all over! He has literally been dealing with this for almost 3 years and I will be glad when he feels back to normal again!

Let's see other updates on us...Kylie has suddenly decided she likes to put her paci in her mouth upside down with her bottom lip jutting out over it! Don't ask me why she started doing that but it is so cute to see!

Before Thanksgiving she would barely eat baby food but ever since Thanksgiving something seems to have clicked with her! She is now eating every bit of it and we just started introducing some stage 2 foods. So she is now eating her cereal, fruit, veggies, and a stage 2 meal (only about half a jar of that though) in a day! I am thrilled she is finally eating it. I let her have stage 2 mac n cheese tonight along with carrots and rice cereal and she ate it as fast as I could give it to her! Funny thing is she loves carrots now and hates green beans! She started out loving green beans and hating carrots! Funny how fast her preferences have changed!

She is sooo close to crawling now! She has graduated from the rocking back and forth on hands and knees to actually walking on her knees. The only problem she seems to be having is she doesn't move her arms! So she will move her knees as far as she can before she can't go any further without the help of her arms and then she just stops! I figure it will happen any time now. She is definitely trying really hard! I am constantly getting her away from the Christmas tree these days so I can only imagine how much more on my toes I will be when she finally starts to crawl! :earseek:

As far as diaper leaks, I never had a real problem until recently. We switched a couple of weeks ago to the Cruisers and I actually am one that doesn't like them. I am not fond of the stretchy sides and miss the Baby Dry ones. I will be going back to those when we are out of the Cruisers. But the problem we have lately is that she sleeps through the night and when she wakes up 12 hours later her diaper has leaked! I am assuming it is b/c she goes so long between changings but she has been sleeping through the night since she was 2 months old and this is just starting to happen. So I figure it is b/c she moves more in her sleep now. But what can I try to help with leaks other than waking her up to change her at night which I of course don't want to do! Any tips?

There is talk that we might get snow tomorrow. I won't hold my breath! It was 67 degrees Saturday night! It is just now starting to get cold and if we do get snow it won't last long at all. Last year it snowed for 30 min. and it was done. It doesn't get cold enough for the snow to actually stick to the ground here so an hour later you couldn't even tell it had ever snowed! It was supposedly snowing in TX earlier today so we may get a little but not enough to talk about!

Okay, I am going to do another post to try to catch up with everyone as this one is getting long!

Okay time to play catch up again!

Alice, Loretta, SL, Gems, Lissawynn~ The new pictures are adorable!!!

Daydreamer~ Welcome to you and baby Benjamin!!! :cheer2: :cloud9: I am so thrilled that he doesn't have trisomy-18! I have been praying for you that all would work out well and I am glad that it seems to be! I hope he can go home soon. Oh, and the staples being removed really aren't that bad. I was scared of that too but all it feels like is a little pressure, not too bad, I promise!

J&D and Lissawynn~ I can't believe Jimmy and Jenna will be a year old in January! I remember when you both had them. My, how time flies!

Gems~ Hope Shelby's eczema clears up soon!

Vald~ Ugh! I am feeling your pain about the sinus infection. I get one about once a year due to our finicky weather changing constantly! They are no fun! I hope all went well at your ds's appt.!

Hillbeans~ I love the pics of Liam trying to roll over! The 2nd one made me laugh. That look is too funny! And lucky you! I am also a HUGE Tim McGraw fan. He's married to a woman from MS...think he'd leave her for me since I am also in MS? J/K! ;)

I hope I didn't miss anyone! I apologize if I did but it's time for me to get some sleep! It's been a long week! Night all!

Lissawynn - I hope you get a contract without a strike. That would be awful. I love the old picture. It makes me want to go through my albums. I'm so bad about organizing pictures and putting them in books.

I didn't know about those Bumbo seats until Aidan was too old for it. They look awesome.

Tasha - I can't believe Kylie is ready to crawl already. Aidan has no interest in crawling. He always hated being on his stomach. He's trying to pull himself to standing, but he has a way to go yet before he will actually be able to do it. My DD walked at 9 months and DS5 walked at 10 months. I'm hoping Aidan waits a little longer. It sounds terrible but I seriously have to baby proof the house.

Darn bell! It's time for stinking cafeteria duty. One girl's breast was sticking out of her shirt yesterday and we were fighting over who had to tell her. This is what I leave my son at daycare for

That's only something another teacher would understand. Before the uniform policy was put into place at the beginning of this year, we ALWAYS had girls who would moon you when they bent over. There isn't anything as quite as icky as having to tell a middle school girl her thong was showing and she needed to hike up her pants.

I have a hair appointment this afternoon. An hour and a half of adult conversation without interruption! I never thought I would relish the time I spent getting my hair cut and colored!

I am gearing up for a snow day tomorrow. We're supposed to get anywhere from 6-10 inches of snow starting after midnight tonight. I could wrap the rest of my gifts, do laundry, clean up my house, and take Jimmy out for a sled ride.

Molly just climbed up half our stairway!!!!!!!!!! :faint: :faint: :faint:

OK AND she cruised a couple steps along the couch. STOP IT MOLLY! ;) :teeth:

nine months old today....crazy how time flies.

Hello all! Its snowing like crazy here in Chicago, we should get about 3- 5ft they are talking about. Anyway I think Hayley has a stomch virus or something, she can't keep any formula down, but she seems to be happy still and no fever. Katelyn well she had an attitude most of the day, she is napping now (thank goodness) she is a little monster, when does the terrible 2's end! my brother wants to move back to Chicago from Los Angelas, so my mother and I are trying to get him home for the holiday's by Greyhound. Well just wanted to say hello and let you all know how things are going at my house. DH is up in Main, he will be gone for about a week, he is a long distance truck driver so I am home with the girl's alone.

Yay for Molly :cheer2: ! I can't believe she is that old already.

2sweetangels,
Whoa! 3 - 5 feet of snow :cold: . We are supposed to get some tomorrow but it's more like 3 - 5 inches LOL :) .

Tasha,
It's so cute when they are practicing crawling. I remember when DS would just rock on his hands and knees. Then he went backwards for the longest time instead of forward :) .

Hillbeans,
I hope you enjoyed your day today :) .

I still haven't gotten around to taking a picture of our tree. I just got Katie to bed and it's almost 10:30 here. We started about two hours ago  . I was supposed to fold laundry tonight but now I'm wiped.

She is really close to rolling over and was really working hard on it today grunting away :teeth: . She also has figured out how to spin herself around with her feet. I left her on the ground playing and went into the kitchen for a minute and when I came back her head was pointing in the opposite direction. Then later on I saw pick up her legs and squinch her body around. Too funny.

I have a question. We started Katrina on cereal about two weeks ago. So far we have done the rice and oatmeal. She did well with both but she absolutely loves the oatmeal. She is eating what the box says is a serving size (5 tablespoons) twice a day. The only thing is it seems to be filling her up and she has really slowed down on her formula consumption. Is that okay? I know the formula is her nutrients basically right now but if she is enjoying eating I don't know that I should take that away from her either. We plan to start some stage 1 fruits and veggies in a couple of weeks and I'm concerned she will start taking even less formula then. Any advice?

I love the new pics, Zalansky! Cameryn looks like such a big girl in her bumbo seat.

Lissawynn, that's great that you have old photos of your family like that. My grandfather (well, step-grandfather actually) has all our old photos of my mom, uncles, and grandparents and he's sorta weird and won't give them to us. He'll mail out a photo once and awhile, but if you ask him he'll say he doesn't have any. Unfortunately my grandmother died 6 years ago (12/1 actually) so we're stuck until he dies and we can search the house. No one think we want him to, not at all, in fact I'm closer to him than I ever was to my bio grandfather, just saying that's the only time we'll get to see any photos. My other grandfather (biological) died 8 years ago and my step-grandmother threw everything out when she moved so nothing from that end either. So I love to see other people's old photos-makes me happy that the memories are being passed around.

Congrats to Molly for cruising and climbing! Not too much longer till she's running around the house with her brothers I bet. Now you have the fun of making sure she doesn't use the tree to pull up on (like Madison did at that age last year).

Tasha, that's so cute that Kylie's trying to crawl. Like Vald's son, Madison did the backwards crawl for awhile first too. It's funny how they can get the motion but not necessarily the order. Madison 1st figured out the forward motion the day we flew to Vegas (me alone with her to meet my mom). So of course she was restless the whole flight trying to get down and crawl around. She was right around Kylie's age I guess, it was 9/30 so 7 months and 4 days!

I'm off to bed. I'm still not feeling totally better and I have to host this breakfast in Madison's school tomorrow. Hopefully it won't snow much cause then it will be postponed and I'm looking forward to spending an hour in her class to see what she does.

Zalansky & bellacam - Cameryn & Aidan look so cute in their Bumbos! I was considering getting one for Lucas but I thought he was too old at the time. Maybe for our next one.

lissawynn - That's a great picture of your grandparents. I have some pics of me as a baby scanned in but none of my family. That's a great idea.

Tasha - Congrats to Kylie almost crawling!

Alice28 - Happy 9 month birthday to Molly!

Justhat - I hope you're feeling better.

Hillbeans - Great pics of Liam rolling over. Hope you had a good time seeing Tim McGraw!

DisKim & lissawynn - I sure don't envy what you teachers have to go through. When I was in middle school, huge oversize shirts were in so I guess the teachers were lucky in that regard. No way anything could peek out of those clothes!

Vald - No advice because we're noticing the same thing (regarding cereal vs. formula). Lucas is such a good eater but is starting to take fewer bottles and less formula at a time too. I do mix the cereal with the formula and a fruit or veggie though so I guess that counts for something.

We are supposed to get 6-12 inches of snow over here. I switched days at work so I went in yesterday and I'm home today. I don't have a problem driving in the snow, but we didn't want to be driving with Lucas if we didn't have to. It's nice to have a 3 day weekend, but I'm stuck in the house.

I hope I didn't miss anyone. I even took notes (being the geek I am). I tend to forget which post I'm reading when I go back and forth from Lucas to the computer.

We've had our tree up since the day after Thanksgiving. Here's a picture:
f14f2a42.jpg

Got my christmas cards addressed and ready to go out. I'll have to stalk the mailman so I can give them to him since I'm not driving to a mailbox today.

DH's grandmother is in the hospital with pneumonia. She broke her hip a few weeks ago and ended up in the ER, then they transferred her to a nursing home since they can't operate. Now she's back in the hospital in intensive care. Poor DH is really upset. He was very close to his "Nonna" growing up.

Hi ladies! I've been over on the Moms-to-be thread for a while now--and since our little man is now 1 month old I figured I better hop over here!

We are all sick at my house. I can barely speak-laryngitis. That makes for getting my point across to my 2yo virtually impossible. She thinks it's great that all mommy can do is whisper. So she is pushing her limits! Don't you just love the 2's.

And then little Matthew, who just turned 1 month, is all stuffy and is not sleeping well. Not that he was a good sleeper anyway, but it breaks my heart to hear him struggling in the middle of the night. And then I have to use the nasal aspirator to clear him out, and he hates that even more. I'm caught between a rock and a hard place. Oh well, it can't last forever, right?

Yuck, to all of you who got the snow. You'd figure being a far north as we are that we'd have gotten some of the white stuff. We're thankful to only have a couple of inches on the ground. A great weekend to all!
