OK, it's time for a nap...BUT someone is coming to look at the car! :woohoo: She's definitely interested. She said if it checks out at the Subaru mechanic 5 blocks down my street (she even knew where I live because she took her old Subaru to that mechanic-weird!), she's buying it! Already approved for a loan, as she said her car went kaput on her earlier this week. So she needs something NOW. She should be here within the hour. Since it had the 30-point inspection done at Subaru on Saturday, I'm not too concerned. That check engine light thing must have just been a loose cap.

Z- I have no idea what that Mom thing is; I would imagine it's selling something. Those kind of things ALWAYS have a hitch. I think working at the call center would be so great- it's not so much about the $$, but that you feel like you are accomplishing something for yourself. And yes, the perks I am sure would be great!

Kim- what a wonderful, wonderful compliment that mother had for you! It must have reaffirmed your decision to be a teacher! I know I will do whatever I can to have Joshua in Sam's last year teacher's class. She was a rare breed.

Have fun decorating this weekend for fall!

GM- I am hoping for you that the car repair cost is very minimal. Have fun unpacking some more and what fun about an open house!

SL- Oh yucky about the kitty not going in his box. I am hoping our cats start going in the yard so we don't have to do the cat box anymore...it's in the corner of the porch, but it's still gross.

Tamie- hope you had a nice lunch with your friend! Glad you got the costume for Tyler. No big plans for our weekend. Just have a bday party to go to on Saturday afternoon.

nucpharm- where are you and your sister going this weekend? I'm glad you are going to earn some extra $$ by watching the baby- that sounds like some easy money!

Well, the gal called and will be here in 15 minutes. Hopefully she will like the car and shoot, we may even have the money tonight if she can get to her bank this afternoon. :Pinkbounc I'm getting ahead of myself though...I need to stop in case she doesn't want it.

Hi All! Luke is down for a nap and Celeste is catching her breath before her next big meltdown. She has her first dance class tonight--a whopping 30 minutes that includes both ballet and tap, so probably 15 minutes of actual dancing, when you figure in shoe-tying and all. She's been talking about this for months, but now that the big day is finally here, she's all worked up about it. The good news is, she's adjusted to preschool, and already knows the dance instructor, so I know she'll be fine once she gets settled. I'm just glad this is IT for her as far as activities go!

After Robert's big meltdown yesterday, he got to school today to find out that he'd actually done the homework in school (the teacher gives them 10 min. to get started, so if they have problems, she's there to help). Sigh! He still needs to be more organized, and keep track of his work. Hopefully it's a lesson learned and that's it for a while, anyway.

justthat--I remember when Jocelyn was a toddler, I was in a mom's group where most of the kids J's age whad older siblings. It was always interesting to see the things that they knew that she didn't--like how to sit in a circle and listen to a book (she was used to curling up in a lap), and how to follow an adult in a group, that sort of thing. You'd have the whole group going along like they were supposed to, and then my kid out in left field! So, try not to beat yourself up about Madison--certainly, she's not behind the curve, just doesn't have exposure to the same things, for better or worse. OTOH, Celeste is much more agressive than Jocelyn ever was, because she's #3 and has to defend her turf. So, try not to over-analyze. I swear, I could have 10 kids, and #10 would still be finding new tricks to spring on mom, just to make my hair turn gray!

Tasha--Such a bummer about your daycare! I hope you find a good substitute.

Kim--That's great about your Meet the Teacher night! It's always nice to get an "attaboy"--and from a board of ed member, too!

Loretta--I would do careful research about any type of on-line business. There are legit ones, but lots of scams. I agree with you on the call center--I feel like I should wear a sign that says, "Will work for Gymboree clothes!"

FF--Hoping for good news on your septic. I will be sending out my exchange as soon as something gets delivered that's being handmade for my buddy (hint: it's something edible that I can't make myself!)

Val--Have a great trip!

Tamie--Hope your lunch went well! Gee, adult conversation--what's not to like!

Stephanie--Woo-hoo on your trip with your sister! I'm so jealous--whenever I see my sis, it's always a wild weekend where we're running amok, and of course, have the kids and husbands and assorted relatives. I'm sure you'll have a blast!

Hi to everyone else--I have to get my little ballerina in her outfit, and it may take a bit!

Hey Robin,

I hope you get a sale today!! That is great that you have a potential buyer already! My Dh won't let me show our vehicle if I am home alone when we put it up for sale. :confused3

Let us know what happens after she's there. :thumbsup2

zalansky,

I have never heard of that company. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to check it out. The Disney call center sounds great. Will you have to pay someone to watch the kids. Then it might not be worth it. Keep us posted on what you end up doing.

I'll be back later.

Here's the latest...she likes the car, wants the car. The mechanic can't squeeze her in until tomorrow, so she's down at the mechanic's now, paying for the service she wants. DH or I will drop it off tomorrow for her, and when the mechanic calls her for the all clear, she will go to the credit union. However, she said she has to travel to the coast tomorrow and might not get to the CU in time. She asked if she gave us good faith $$ would we hold the car until mid-week next week (she is going out of town for a few days with work). We said sure, as long as there is sufficient good faith $$.

So, as long as the mechanic gives it the OK, we have sold the car already! :woohoo: We even belong to the same CU, so I imagine if we go there with her, we can just sign off to have the $$ transferred into our account.

I wish it was today or tomorrow, but I certainly can't complain. We just have no extra money til later next week and it would have been nice to get some padding between now and then. Oh well!

Hi moms, I've missed a lot since last night, geez! It's been an easy day today, Jack has been good (although last night was a repeat performance of screaming- I feel bad now because I let him cry it out since nothing worked the night before and then I noticed a new tooth this morning :guilty: poor kid was just hurting) and took a long enought nap for me to mow the lawn, AND meet a couple new neighbors, both of whom are very nice. The man nextdoor told us to feel free to let the kids play in his yard since there's no fence on that side, so that was nice. I still think I'm going to put up a fence or some hedges though, we live on a somewhat busy road and I just don't trust it.

vettechic- CONGRATULATIONS! I've "seen" you around the DIS here and there and look forward to you joining us here.

Robin- GEESH! I've had my furniture listed on craigslist for over a month and you go and sell your car in a day? CONGRATS to you too! I know my furniture is priced higher than people probably want to pay but it is very good quality and I've got the time to wait. I don't think I ever got the chance to post it but I have been praying for your friends DH and will continue to do so. How nice that a fellow DISer sent you her book!

Tasha- Sorry to hear about Kylies daycare situation, how frustrating. Didn't you mention you had someone who could cover you until later this year, even though they weren't your first choice? Good luck!

DisKim- Way to go, Mrs. "Teacher of the Year"! I'm sure that makes you feel better about yourself, we all need that sometimes! Sorry to hear your friend had such a rough night, some people are just :sad2:

Jill- Great to hear form you, sorry you're so busy. I'm glad John did well at the sitters! Very sorry to hear about your friends father, and on her birthday too :guilty:

ff- I'm sorry this septic tank thing has you so stressed out, I hope it's over soon!

SL- Sorry to hear your cat's still giving you trouble, hopefully it's nothing serious.

justhat- You are BRAVE taking on 4 kids, and all under the age of 3 aren't they? :worship:

nucpharm- Have a great trip, hope you don't have to take the mom-mobile! Sounds like you got a great thing going watching the baby. I think I'll have to do that when things are settled here, just to help pay our much bigger bills.

zalansky- I haven't heard of that company either, but I think Disney sounds great- share the perks, what are they???

tykes- no big plans here this weekend, more unpacking, furniture pick up and delivery and we're watching my cousins on Saturday.

BnB- Hope Celeste has a great time at dance tonight!

I'm so excited that Saturday is the first day of fall, anyone with me? We have a tradition of watching The Nightmare Before Christmas every year on the first day of fall, then it's played at least once a day until January 2nd when we put it away for next year. Alex has been mezmorized with it sinve he was 3 months old and knows all the words. Time to get working on Jack Jack!

Hi Gemma, DisneyPhD, Ginamarie, GLT, Hillbeans, dizagain, bellacam, lissawynn and all the other moms I'm missing (I can't find my list, sorry!)

Real quick post - DH was interviewed for TWO FULL HOURS!! I would die! He thought it went really well so now he's even more nervous. He is the most loyal person I know and has been in his job for 11 years. It would be really hard for him to leave.

DisKim: Good to hear the news about your DH's interview. Two hours! That is a good sign. :wizard: Hope he gets an offer soon!
Tasha: Sorry to hear about the daycare situation. That stinks. I hope you can find something for Kylie. Hopefully an even better situation will present itself. :wizard: to you too.
Robin: Great news about the car! Keep us posted.
Ryan: What a neat tradition. I am always so fascinated by the cool traditions people have.
Zalanksky: You'd better start working on DH about the Disney job :) What kind of perks would you get?
BNB: How did Celeste's dance class go?
SL: Sorry to hear about your kitty issues.
Ginamarie: Are you having a big housewarming party?
Tamie: How did you lunch with your friend go? No big plans here for the weekend and that's just fine with me. I need to do some cleaning and hanging out with DH & Jace.
Nucpharm: Hope you have a blast with your sister.
Justhat: You spent the day with 4 young kids???? :scared1: Just the thought gives me anxiety!! :) Hope you all survived ok.

Hi FF, Jill, Bellacam, Cabmom, GLT and everyone else.

DH is doing well with the back issues and has been taking Jace to daycare in am for the past two days. As much as I love being able to take a lunch break again as I am now coming in on time, I miss having the time with Jace in the morning. I feel like I hardly see him in the am and then I am out the door. He's having a bit of a rough transition with me leaving him behind as well.

Jace's Disco Halloween Costume arrived!!! Yippee! I can't wait to try it on him. Not long now. I hope we will all post pics of our kids in their Halloween Best.

Tonight is Survivor and CSI. I don't think I'll make it to CSI so I'll Tivo it and DH and I can catch up over the weekend. I too feel like there is something on everynight that I would like to watch. Good thing Fri/Sat TV stinks so I can watch all the crap I've Tivo-ed.

Have a good night
:)

Super quick post before tv comes on tonight!

joats - I so want to see Jace in that costume, he'll look sooo darn cute! Yes, I'm sure we'll all post our halloween pics.

diskim - 2 hours? No thanks! Good luck to your DH and congrats on your big pat on the back!

robin - Cool on the car! I hope it all works out. That was sure speedy!

zalansky - How far of a drive would it be for you? The perks would be great!

ryan - That sounds like a fun tradition! You'll probably kill me, but I've never even seen it!

bnb - I hope the dance class goes well!

ginamarie - I hope the car doesn't cost too much!

it's so gloomy and wet here today. Lunch was fun. I took Tyler to the club afterwards and got a decent workout in, so that felt good.

Tomorrow night we have a family wedding and then we are just hanging out. I'm really looking forward to just vegging.

see ya!

tamie

tykes- I'll let you slide just this once ;) Really though, I can't recommend it enough, it's so fun! The more you watch it the more you love it.

BNB- you n me both for the Will Work for Gymboree Clothes! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Hope Celeste had a good dance class today. :dance3:

ryan- that's a fun tradition with the movie! I confess I think I have only seen it once or twice. You would love that overlay they do at the Haunted Mansion at Halloween-Christmas time at DL! We saw it the first year they did it, in 95 or 96 and it was very elaborate!

I feel VERY lucky that our car sold so quickly (or has almost sold). Hopefully your furniture will sell soon! :wizard:

Kim- Wow, a 2 hour interview! sounds promising! When will he know? :bitelip:

Joats- I too cannot wait to see Jace in his disco outfit - I am sure he will be a crack up!

Val- have you started to pack yet?

I never was able to squeeze a snooze in today; no big surprise really with all the car jazz going on. But I'm not sure how I am going to make it through TV tonight! So looking forward to Survivor and I think I will watch CSI. I like Grey's, but I really wanted to see if they will address this Sarah/Grissom affair tonight.

Tomorrow the kids already have a no school day! I think we are going to the mall, because all these coupons were in the paper this weekend for free food at the food court- free minibon, free smoothie at Jamba, free salad at a deli...I think I have two copies of the minibon and smoothies---Sam can go up and order too. Desperate times....then we can get an order of chicken strips somewhere and make a meal out of it.

Robin- The HM overlay is our only reason for going to DL next October! We're not a little obsessed or anything :rotfl2: We justify it that way anyway, we knew we'd make it out there someday but got really excited when we heard about that. We're all around fall/Halloween/Christmas nuts though so anything to make the season more special...

Speaking of DL, I'm very close to the one year mark, YEAH :cheer2: I'll need lots of help from those of you who've been there, I don't know where to begin. I could plan a trip to WDW with my eyes closed and get teh best bargains to boot, but DL is a whole other world.

Dinners ready, gotta go!

Good evening ladies! (warning long post ahead since I’m so far behind!)

I hope this evening finds you all doing well. I’ve got lots to catch up on here so I’ve opened my Word document to keep track of everything. It sounds like lots of exchanges have gone out and are being received. That is great! :cool1:

Oh Tasha, I am so sorry to hear about your daycare problems. :grouphug: I will definitely pray for you that something works out for Kylie. I hope that the director can give you some assistance as well. That is a terrible bind they are putting you in and you shouldn’t have to quit school. You’ve worked so hard so far.

Dizagain – Have a great time with the girls tomorrow. I’ve never seen “Akeelah and the Bee” but it is on our must see list! Let me know how you like it.

Floridafam – It sounds like you’ve have a rough few days with stuff breaking down on you. :grouphug: I’m sorry to hear about that.

Robin – How is your friend’s husband? Anymore news? I’ll pray for them. Congrats on the car sale!! That is great! Have a great time with the kids at the mall tomorrow!

Hillbeans – In case I can’t get on here until after Saturday….HAPPY BIRTHDAY to LIAM!!!! :bday: It seems like yesterday he was born! BTW, how is everyone feeling in your house? I hope all better!

SL – I bet your vacation can’t come fast enough especially with so many people quitting at your job! Sorry to hear that your cat is giving you a hard time. Maybe your cat has been talking to my dog b/c she has been a little psycho dog lately.

Vettechick – Congrats on the pregnancy!! :cloud9:

Justhat – Holy Moly about watching 4 little ones today. I hope that you survived! How did it go? BTW, I saw your post a bit back about Madison and I agree with everyone else that she is just your typical two year old. (And a cute two year old too.)

Nucpharm – Have a great weekend with your sister! I’m keeping your sister and her family in my prayers that their business takes off.

Zalansky - No, I haven’t heard of the mom team. Sorry! I’m with everyone else thinking that you should work for the Disney call center. I hope your husband will let you do it. Enjoy Greys Anatomy tonight!

Tamie – I bet Tyler will make a cute Lion for Halloween! Congrats on the good workout today too!

DisKim – Wow, your poor fellow teacher. My biggest fear when I become a teacher isn’t the students, but the parents! I’ve heard some stories about zany parents, but what happened to your friend is terrible. Congrats too on the ‘kudos’! :thumbsup2 That must make you feel good and you certainly deserve the praise. It sounds like your dh’s interview went well.

Ginamarie – It sounds like you’ve had a rough couple of days as well. :grouphug: Sorry to hear about the client workload dropping and about the car.

Val – Have a wonderful trip! I want to see pictures when you come back!

BnBmom – How was Celeste’s dance class tonight?

Ryan840 – It is great to see you again. We missed you. :wave2: Good luck with all of the unpacking and congrats on the new furniture (especially the king size bed!) Oh, I just love your tradition for the first day of fall. That is so cool!

GLT – Congrats on the garage sale! You did great! How is Leif doing? I hope he is giving your arm a rest. I’m sorry to hear that your dd is having a tough time with separation. Hopefully as the school year goes, it will get better for her. BTW, you are one busy lady! Good luck getting everything done.

Bellacam – Good luck watching your friend’s three year old! I hope you are feeling good too!

Joats – I’m glad to hear that your dh continues to improve. That is tough though that little Jace is having a hard time with you leaving. Oh I can’t wait to see Jace all dressed up for Halloween too!

Hi Fabumouse – I didn’t see any pigs flying here? ;) Glad to hear that your dd is doing better at night!

Hi to Gems! How are you doing? How is little Shelby doing? I hope that she is sleeping better for you. Can you believe that she and John Paul will be one soon?

J&D – Don’t worry about mailing the demo stuff to me. Your ideas were great and so helpful!

Lissawynn – How are you feeling? I hope the heartburn is better!

Hi to DisneyPhD and Cabmom!

Before I forget I want to thank everyone for the meal suggestions for my in-laws! :goodvibes It sounds like lasagna is the big winner and I will make that! Also, I will be making a run to Costco to stock up as well!

Gosh, our weekend plans here are nuts. Tomorrow is the funeral and tomorrow night I am hosting a kick off pizza party for a girls club that Meagan is in. I think 50 people might be showing up. The cool thing is that I am just providing the house. The other moms are taking care of food and decorations.

Saturday is soccer and Saturday night is Katie’s birthday sleepover. She is having an American Idol sleepover party. I’m more worried about the sleepover than anything else. Ten 8 year olds staying up all night isn’t quite my cup of tea, but the girls are all sweeties so I’m sure I will survive. I’m getting my hair highlighted on Sunday and I also need to study. This weekend will be busy busy! Yikes!

Everyone have a great weekend! :sunny:

Hi Everyone!

First, Congratulations to Vettechick!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :thumbsup2 :sunny: :cool1: . I'm so happy for you.

I've been laying pretty low these last few days and we are all feeling a lot better - no more colds! I've been so busy at work, and traffic seems to be so much worse these days now that school is in session. I also seem to hit sun glare both on my way to and from work which seems to add another 10 minutes each way to my commute. I've not been watching much TV, but I did watch the Steve Irwin Memorial on Tuesday and i'm looking forward to the Terri and Bindi interview next week with Barbara Walters.

I still have to post the pictures of the beautiful growth charts that Tammy did for my boys.

Loretta - Well, the one thing I can say is that I can agree that you don't want to take a job where you spend a lot of time away from your kids and family, but maybe 2 nights a week or something like that would work out for you at the call center. I would imagine the perks of the job would make it worth your while. I tend to agree that most home based jobs require some outlay of money up front or hawking items to your other mom friends. Let us know what the outcome is.

Ryan840 - Nice to see you again! Sorry to hear about Jack's tooth. Liam's never worked well with the CIO either. Hope you're getting settled in to your new home.

Alice - I can't believe you sold your car in one day. That has to be some kind of record. I say you and DH need to go out and celebrate! :thumbsup2

Jill - your weekend sounds twice as busy as mine and i'm having 30 people over! Hope you survive the weekend, enjoy getting your highlights, and I wish Katie a very Happy Birthday!!! princess: :goodvibes :cool1:.

BNB - I hope Celeste had a great night at her dancing class! I used to tap dance, and remember doing it at a very young age. It's such a great way for the kids to meet friends and learn a new fun skill.

Dizagain - On my local radio station they were talking about that movie, Akeela and the Bee, and they said it was a real tearjerker. Let us know how it was.

Diskim - Congratulations on the Kudos from one of the parents of a child in your class. I love my son's teachers and it reminds me to tell them that when I have back to school night next month. It really amazes me all of the people who complain about their teachers here on the DIS. I know there are some people who have legitimate concerns, but some people need the drama :stir: - know what I mean? Again, congrats.

Lissawynn - Hope you're doing well with your classes as well.

Justine - Hope you survived the day with 4 kids! WOW!!!! How is Baby Henry doing???

I have so many more people to update, but we're getting our house ready for the 30+ people who are coming over on Saturday for Liam's party, so I've got floors to mop and laundry to put away. Talk with you ladies tomorrow if I can steal away for a few minutes.

Hi to SL, Fabumouse, Tasha, Tamie, Joats, J & D, StrawberryLemonade, Gottalovethem, DisneyPhD, Floridafam, Gems, Bellacam, Ginamarie, Nucpharm, and all the mom's!!!! :wave2:

Good evening ladies!

Oh, I am just plum worn out. Madeleine would not sleep last night - she just grunted through most of the night. And she wouldn't take a nap with me this morning (more grunting) and then I walked to Kailey's school (that 4 mile round-trip production) to pick her up (Justhat - I don't know how you do it!!) and tonight was the Kindergarten back to school night. I did take Madeleine and I fed her in the car. But because she wouldn't sleep last night - she was fussy right at the end, which unfortunately was the part I wanted to be there for (Kailey's teacher's presentation).

But - I could tell that he is a really nice guy, really wants to be teaching in our school system (we have a really good system, supported greatly by interested parents) and very accessible. So even thought I had to leave early, I feel MUCH better about the whole set up and thank you to everyone for encouraging me to find a way to go.

Robin - your post really made we want popcorn! popcorn:: And I'm so sorry about Marylou's DH. I hope the car sale goes great!

Ryan - congrats on the furniture purchase! I find it very difficult - as it feels so very long-term. I think the Christmas exchange hasn't been organized yet. I hope. :thumbsup2 And no - mine was the only baby!! I know there are a bunch of other new babies at the school, and most of the parents didn't show at all, which is too bad.

And I LOVE that tradition you have to celebrate fall. DD has been bugging me every day about when is fall going to be here (fall is a good season in our house - besides the holidays, we almost always go on vacation in the fall as well).

Jill - what does one do at an American Idol sleepover???

Hillbeans - good luck with your party - 30 people at one time is a lot!

Time to move the munchkin to bed so she can grunt.

:moped:

Well, I've just got a quick moment to post before I go pack my bags!! :cool1: Of course, getting my "McDreamy" :cloud9: fix definitely came first before packing. How did I make it all summer with reruns!!!

DH's car is back at our house tonight, but he has to take it back to the shop tomorrow. Oh well, guess we'll be cruising in the mommy-mobile afterall. No biggee though--at least there will be no kids in it! ;)

Alice--Congrats on "almost" selling your car so quickly! :cheer2: My sis and I are going to Branson, Mo. It's only 3 hours from here, and I used some of our DVC points to trade into a wonderful resort just outside of town. I've been to this resort before for a church conference years ago, but it's wonderful. It's called Big Cedar Lodge and it's owned by Bass Pro shops--right on the lake--just beautiful. I'll definitely be posting pics when I get back

z--never heard of that mom's thing either--my dh is the same way with me working outside the house--watching the baby 2 days a week is no big deal, but if it were, say, someplace at the mall (heaven forbid) he would just turn his nose up and the deal would be off.

vettechick--Congrats!!!  And I look forward to getting to know you in the future!

jill--good luck with all the plans this weekend--especially the sleepover!

hillbeans--have fun getting ready for the party!

joats--the costume for Jace sounds adorable! I also would like to see all the kids in their costumes--I'm hoping to find something for Emma this weekend.

tkyes--have fun at the wedding!

Okay, so back to packing for me. I'm supposed to be picking up my sis at 8:30 in the am so we can drop the kids of at my mom's and get on the road. Have a great weekend all--I might bring the laptop along b/c we get wireless service in the room--but maybe I'll just "unplug" for a couple of days! Will catch up later!

Fabumouse, there are I think 6 new babies in Madison's school and last night there were 2 that I saw, including Henry. The other baby was his future classmate Willa Hazel, sister of Madison's friend Oscar. They have an older sister named Rowan. I guess the mom is into unique names. Super nice family and I'm happy that when the time comes 2 years from now that our kids will be in the same class again. I'm glad it all worked out for you. Oh, and I do walk 1 of those 4 miles at a really slow pace, btw, cause Madison walks home. I make her get in the stroller in the morning though cause I just can't get up any earlier than I do.

Nucpharm, have a great trip! Can't wait to see some photos.

Hillbeans, glad you're all feeling better. And happy birthday to Liam just in case I can't get on this weekend. Henry's cold seems to be going away but Madison still has hers so I'm just preparing for a relapse this weekend. Madison seems to have a year long cold once school starts till it ends. Enjoy his party this Saturday!

Jill, sorry to hear about the funeral, but that's great that John is doing well at his sitter. It's always so reassuring to know that your kid is happy with their caregiver. Happy birthday to Katie and I hope you survive the sleepover without being too exhausted with your new schedule.

Alice28, congrats on the car sale. I have to tell you that before I left for Madison's open house last night I told Joey that my See's chocolate better still be there when I got home. I told him it was really good, he looked at it and said "I don't see what the big deal is." I said "Good, then there's no need for you to eat it." Well I pretty much went to bed when I got back last night so this afternoon I went to eat a piece and he ate half of several pieces! I asked him what he thought he was doing when he got home tonight and he replied "Yeah, that is really good chocolate! We have to order some of that. I only ate half of each piece cause when I tasted it I knew you'd kill me if I ate it all!" Lucky for him that he thought at that level or he'd be finding a new home tonight.

The 4 kids in my house wasn't too bad, but I made a very, very stupid decision of offering to take them home for her. Well, I do have 4 carseats, and an Explorer with a 3rd row so they would have all fit. But I forgot that the other 2 are in Joey's car, which was at the hospital garage and tonight was an afternoon call night so he didn't get home till 9ish which was way too late. So I decide to take the train. That's the mistake. I don't own a double stroller, so normally Henry rides and Madison walks, but now add in a 21 and 4 month old and where do they go? I had to wear Henry, put the 4 month old in the stroller, and walk the other 2. It's a little over 1/2 a mile to the train so I thought once I got there I was fine. Well I was boarding the train and I walked Madison and her son on and was pushing the stroller on and the doors closed on it!! Those of you who have been on the DC metro know that it will pull away with you stuck in the door. I totally panicked and was about to grab the baby out of the stroller, freaking out that 2 toddlers would be alone on the train, screaming for them to open the doors when finally I guess the conductor heard me and opened it up. So we got on and all was well till I realized this train didn't go to the end of the line (which is where my friend lives) so I had to get off when it stopped and then wait for another train to continue the journey. Ridiculous. Oh, and did I mention that Henry chose this afternoon to decide he needs to be permanently attached to my chest!?! Very convenient timing. And Madison fell down the stairs on the way out-only a couple of steps cause she was carrying all of these stuffed animals which I told her she couldn't bring anyway, and she landed on them so she wasn't hurt, but still, last thing I needed.

The ride home was much better though and we stopped at the park on the way back from the metro. Oh, then I had one of those sad mommy moments on the playground. Of course, since I just told you all how Madison is always the mean kid on the playground, she decided to change that today. A little boy asked her if he could have some of her acorns (she had collected roughly 200). At first she said her usual no, which I would have expected from any kid, but then I suggested she share just one and she said yes and offered him the biggest acorn. It was freakishly big and I was shocked she chose that one cause I knew she liked it best. Well when it was time to go home she asked me where the boy with her "big pit" was, so I pointed him out. She told me she needed it back. Uh, uh oh. I explain she gave it away and she basically said "uh, no, it's mine and I want it back". So she asks the kid and he says no. His mom happens to come over and overhears the situation and I explain that she's 2, she thought she was loaning it out not giving it away (her kid was about 8) and she asks her kid if he wants to give it back. He says no and she said essentially "too bad, he likes it, it's his prized treasure". I said "right, as was it hers, and she's 2, she doesn't understand giving something away, he's quite a bit older so maybe he could switch for a different one". She said "No, he likes this one. I hope you understand cause he just can't give it back." I was shocked, cause if my kid ever did that to a toddler I'd make her give it back, but whatever. So I told Madison we'd look for another one and we left. As we walked away she said "Mommy, that was a mean boy. He took my big pit and not give it back to me." I felt so bad for her. Her first time sharing something and it was a bad experience. Oh well, first of many I'm sure.

I'm off to bed now. I'm so tired. I stayed up to watch ER, which I should not have cause I'm still way too hormonal and watching Abby's birth was just way more than could handle. I won't really say anything about it cause if some of you in other time zones watch it it's not over/on yet. Anyway, definitely time for bed!

Why I am still up, I do not know. I'm grumpy again tonight- DH just was irritating tonight, and I guess I'm just tired. On a nice note, I stumbled upon Disney's Animal Kingdom on the Travel Channel. Seen it before, but it's always fun to watch a Disney special. I have to keep my eye out for the DLP one I have seen before.

Hi Jill! Sounds like you have a crazy busy weekend ahead of you! I hope the slumber party isn't too wild!

Fab- you poor thing, not getting any sleep last night. I bet Madeleine was a bit pooped herself. I make some wickedly good popcorn- I have one of those stove poppers, with the handle, and I put lots of butter on it. I only try to make it twice a month or so cause I know it isn't lo-cal popcorn!

Nuc- have a great time with your sister! Sounds like fun.

Hillbeans- I hope Liam's party is a super success! Please post a pic or two or three when you can.

Tamie- yes, there is such a difference between a $20 and $50 pedi. A "spa" opened up in 'downtown' Oregon City and DH is like, "Oh look- they have pedicures, and they are only $25, not $50 or $60 at CC!" I just gave him a look. I think the thing I liked best about my pedi at CC is that it's QUIET. You are in a partitioned area, the workers don't really talk to each other, and soothing music is being player....you're in these super comfy recliners....oh, it's just heaven. I looked over the pamphlet with prices again tonight, and I might just have to make a super spa morning for myself when we get the $$ for the car. There is a package with a body scrub, massage and a mani/pedi. Sigh....

Justhat- I *CANNOT* believe what you went throught to get those kids home! You are a brave, brave, brave woman. I would have called the gal up and been like, "Oops, don't have enough carseats, can you please come get them?" I'm so glad the train doors opened again and that Madison didn't hurt herself when she tripped. And what a BRAT kid about the acorn! If that were my 8 year old----well, my 8 year old wouldn't do that! He knows better! And the mother is just worse- I HATE moms like that.

And yes, I think See's is DEFINITELY worth the shipping fees if you want to order it. I love those molasses chips (the rectangular, flat candies)...you can get a whole box of just those! My favorite one I couldn't get for you, as it has almonds. I think I bought that one for Tamie and she can attest to it's chocolatey goodness. I almost got sick on See's after Molly was born- I think I got about 5lbs of it as gifts after all was said and done with visitors. But after a few months of recovery, I found my way back to the store. :lovestruc

Well I am off to bed. DH is up there snoring logs, I can hear him from down here.

As you can see from the time, 1:52 a.m. CST, Leif was up and now I am too! Leif is now sleeping but I suddenly can't go back to sleep, though I know I should. I have been SOOOO stressed lately that I literally lost it and started sobbing yesterday. The kids thought I was crazy. I am better today, I blame hormones...I'm still nursing, which is exhausting and haven't yet had Aunt Flo, so I 'm sure my body is all messed up. .. . anywho . . .

I'm soooo proud of all of you who have gathered items and sent your packages. Our deadline is in October, right? I am such a deadline-oriented gal. My pal will get her package, but it might me last minute

Robin - you said somethign a few pages back that I wanted to answer, but so cannot remember right now, at least you are in my thoughts! Maybe it's the need for sleep? I am sooooo rambling . . . .congrats on almost selling the car, I hope it works out, that would ROCK! :cheer2:

dizagain - we are straight up 43, in Sheboygan. Just a couple hours from you. Next time I head that way I'll let you know!

Ryan - Yeah! about the furniture (ick about spending $$). DH and I have been dreaming about a king bed for years. It won't fit up our stairs either and we have talked about living with a crack . . .didn't realize those temper.. mattresses could bend. . . and the boxspring is in two pieces, right? Might have to think more about the bed Robin has been talking about...

Tasha - I'm soooo sorry about the daycare situation. I sure hope it works out for the best :wizard: I know how much you like it there. :grouphug:

Hillbeans - I've been posting so irregularly I didn't realize - it's almost Liam's b'day? Happy Birthday to him!! I hope you have a great time celebrating.

justhat - holy cow about the mom in the park, WTH? I think you handled it well, I'd be ticked off for sure! That is insane of that mom to think that it's too bad for a two year old. And holy cow again! about your trek in the subway. You are one amazing mom to travel so well across the city and walk all that way. My kids complain if they have to walk a few blocks!

nucpharm - hope you have a great gals weekend!

Jill - Hi. My arm is sore but better today, thanks for asking. What a brave mom to take on 10 10 year olds. I can't wait to hear all about it, I'm sure you'll be posting in the middle of the night as they keep you awake  good luck!

tamie - yea for working out :cheer2:

Diskim - good luck to dh :wizard: I hope school is going well for you.

val - hope all is well with you, you probably posted on one of the back pages and I missed it! I hope you are enjoying your new job.

Bnb - I hope your activities aren't driving you too crazy

disneyphd, ginamarie, bellacam, gems and the loads of mom's I missed, a big hello. I hope you all have a great Friday.

I gotta try to get some sleep, night all!

Well, I'm currently up the latest!! It's 3:25 here and Carson got up to eat at 1:15 and then just sat in my lap wide awake staring at me and grinning every now and then for almost two hours. I dozed a little, but now that I could put him down, I can't sleep...figures.

gottalovethem - cool that you live so close to me! Sorry Leif is pulling a "Carson" on you and hope you got back to sleep quickly. I love a good sob - just ask my DH - hope it helped a little.

alice28 - wow on selling the car so quickly! Sending exta pixie dust that the sale goes through!! Hope you got some sleep as well.

hillbeans - Happy Birthday to Liam! Hope the party is wonderful - I'm sure it will be!!

nucpharm - hope you have an awesome trip!!

llij - What a weekend you have planned - you're making me tired just reading about it!! Hope the sleepover goes ok - they always stress me out a little and I've never had one that big. Idea just in case you need one - the girls LOVE doing this and beg for it...I put together two bags of misc. objects including some dress up and bunches of strange household things. I split the girls up into two teams (we pick numbers) and they each have a certain amount of time to put together a skit using everything in the bag. Usually they end up switching bags and doing it again. Have fun!

diskim - Good luck to DH! So happy for your ego boost the other night - I know that was much-neeeded and probably well-deserved!

fabumouse - hope you're snoozing away right now...wish I was! Glad the parent night went well! Wow - a male teacher...we didn't have one of those until 5th grade - I'll bet that's fun!!

justhat - what can I say, you are amazing! I have told the girls we won't be going into downtown any time soon because I am not touching that train ride with Carson and here you go and take four tiny ones!!!!! I'm glad you survived. Shame on that little brat of a boy at the park - and that mom too!! It's scary a child that age would be mean to someone Madison's age and even more scary that his mom let him! Maybe you could just stay home today and get your heart rate back down after your crazy day!!

ok, well, I'll try to sleep now. Hi to everyone I missed!

Wow, you ladies were busy last night. I was too busy watching tv :happytv: !

Jill - I was petrified of parents too when I first started teaching. My first parent phone call felt like getting sent to a torture chamber. I really have only had one bad incident and that mother was just plain insane. I think one irate parent in 10 years isn't too bad. The incident happened because I kicked her precious DD out of class and her DD's precious friend decided to stir up trouble because she was mad. She told her that I said a bunch of stuff about the girl after I threw her out which I certainly would NEVER do. Ironically, the woman kept her DD in my class. If I thought a teacher had spoken negatively about my DD, I would have had her out of that class in about 2 seconds. Anyway, the parents I have dealt with over the years have been wonderful. Even when I have a problem with a student and have to call home, the parents have always been supportive. I always make sure to praise the student before I let the axe fall. That works well and I want to relay the message to the parents that I recognize the student's good qualities and not just the bad behavior. BTW, I don't envy your busy weekend. Good luck.

dizagain - I hope you got some sleep. I don't miss those newborn days.

Robin - That is great news about the car. I hope all goes smoothly.

Tamie - McDreamy is okay, but I really wish they would have kept McSteamy around  . It was a great episode last night. It actually made me get up and kiss everyone again. It really made me think about how a split second can change your life.

GLT - I'm sorry you are so stressed out. I hope you feel better today. I haven't mailed my exchange yet either. I just can't shop during the week because of work and I live in Smalltown, USA and I don't even have a Target or anything. I didn't find anything that seemed "right" when I shopped last weekend. Hopefully, I'll find better stuff this weekend.

Well, I really wish I could finish catching up with everyone but I have that darn job I have to get to. I'm really quite late today but I don't care. It's pep rally day and I have no desire to go to school. Thanks for all the good thoughts on DH's interview. I have no idea when we will hear anything. I'll certainly let my DIS friends know!
