Welcome gottalovethem and mantysk8coach! Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm within an hour of you both--I live just outside of Appleton in Menasha! We'll have to get together--have a Dis playdate!!

mantysk8coach--you definitely qualify as a new mom--most of us around here have a little one and then an older child or two. Mine are 4 months and 2! This thread is great b/c we can bounce ideas off each other and nobody is judgemental if you do things a little differently! Glad you found us!

gottalovethem--Congrats on getting your little one into the crib--DD slept with us for the longest time and I vowed that DS wouldn't. Funny though, he likes his crib better!! Good luck cutting down the nighttime feedings!

Tasha--congrats on being a new aunt!

Well, guess what? Matthew and Emma both slept through the night with no peeps from either one!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: Unfortunately, I had too much caffeine right before bed so I didn't get great sleep. That and DH is starting to feel the stress of his work now physically. He's going to see the nurse at the plant today to have his blood pressure checked again--it's been running high lately, and with all the stress at work it has me kind of worried. How am I supposed to sleep when the last thing DH says to me before going to bed is "I just don't feel right!" What does that mean? I'm sure he's fine, but I want a professional to tell me that! Have a great day ladies!

Stephanie

:sunny: Good morning ladies,

Welcome mantysk8coach and gottalovethem  ! There are no rules about who's a "new mom" on this thread. Anyone who wants to chat is welcome :) .

Robin,
That job sounds fantastic for you :thumbsup2 . I'll keep my fingers crossed that it all works out!

Loretta,
Your video made me tear up too princess: . It's very sweet.

Gems,
Put me down for 10 lbs. by May. I could stand to lose more than that but that sounds like a very doable goal. My main problem is my sweet tooth and fast food. I'm going to try and curb both of them.

Jill,
I hope Meagan's day goes well today.

Tasha,
Don't let your mom get to you :grouphug: . You are a great mommy.

Lisawynn,
Good luck with all the work at school. I'm sure you'll be glad when the year is over and you can relax a bit :sunny: !

SL,
Poor Lucas and his lip! Blood always freaks me out. I'm so glad that he was okay!

Nucpharm,
I love the new pics in your sig! Your kids are cutie pies :) . I hope your dh is okay.

Hi to everybody else :wave2: . I'm working off memory hear so I'm sorry if I forgot anything important.

Not much exciting going on here. I got called in to work yesterday so extra money for me next week :cheer2: . I am really itching to plan a Disney trip but it would have to be for next May. How early have you all started planning before? I think I should wait until we are a year out but I am really having withdrawals.

Well, I guess I should go. I hear Katie fussing and asking for "mum-mum" in the next room with dh. Talk to you all later.

val--how early do we start planning? Well, we started planning our sept. trip as soon as we got back from WDW in Jan. :goodvibes And I'm already thinking of what to do on our next trip, LOL! So go ahead and start planning, in my opinion it's never too early!!! :cool1:

Good morning ladies! :sunny:

Welcome Mantysk8coach and gottalovethem! :welcome: Like everyone else has said, this is a great thread with great moms so jump on in and post away! It is always great to meet new moms! :goodvibes

Robin - That Gymboree job sounds perfect for you! With your background in child development and the hours they offer it sounds like a great fit. Also, the discount at Gymbo won't hurt either. ;) I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that it all works out!

Nucpharm - I hope that your husband is ok. :grouphug: How scary to not feel well especially when you are under an enormous amount of stress. Keep us posted on how he is doing. As far as WW, it sounds like you have a good plan with just keeping track of points, portions, water and exercise. Those seem to be the things that do the trick with losing weight.

Valerie - That is great that you are able to get some extra hours in. That will definitely help with a Disney trip. Go ahead and plan all you want too! I've planned trips to WDW over a year in advance before. :teeth:

Zalansky - Have fun with your friend today! :sunny: I also agree with you about how it doesn't matter how babies enter the world. As long as they are healthy then that it great.

Tasha - Welcome to your new little nephew! As far as your SIL thinking you are wimping out with a c-section, I had the girls the v-way (sorry didn't want to get censored) and John via a c-section. I have a new found respect for all women who have c-sections. It was tough and definitely not the easy way out in my book. :teeth: I hope your SIL realizes that now.

SL - I hope you aren't too sore today after yoga! :) I need to start exercising regularly myself and I can't seem to get my rear in gear. I have a friend who is opening a Pilates studio and I joined. The studio was supposed to open in February, but building delays have pushed back the opening to May 1st. Bummer...I guess I will have to start doing that Pilates video with the girls more often! :teeth:

Lisawynn - Good luck getting the yearbook done and the grades in! I agree with you how middle school can be really tough on kids. I loved HS and college, but I don't really have fond memories of middle school.

I better get back to studying! I need to finish this class up by April 1st and I'm slowly getting there. John is napping at the moment and my daughter Katie is home sick today. It will be a low key day here.

Everyone have a great day! :wave2:

Hi guys, just checking in! Luke still isn't gaining weight--he's maintaining, though, so the doctor said to let him go one more week and we'll see if he starts picking up ounces. He looks fine--bright-eyed and all, just a scrawny little chicken! We're still supplementing one bottle a day, and I pumped the other day and got 2 ounces, which is about what he takes in formula, so we know I'm producing.

For that reason, I'm staying out of the weight loss thing. Not that I couldn't stand to lose pounds, but I've been tweaking my diet to try to accomodate Luke, and don't want to even think about cutting back calories if it might hurt him. So for now, I'll be a cheerleader, and maybe if we do a weight loss thing in a couple months, I can join in.

Buzznbellesmom,
I'm sending some good thoughts your way that Luke starts gaining this week :goodvibes . It sounds like you are doing all the right things for him :) .

Jill and Nucpharm,
Maybe I will start planning a trip today :teeth: .

Tasha,
Forgot to say Congrats on the new nephew :groom: !

Hello Mommies. Thanks everyone for the birthday well wishes!

BuzznBelle'smom, I think you are doing the right thing. It is more important that your son gets what he needs. Dieting should not be a goal when breast feeding in the start. (but it is good for weight loss in the long run.)

Mantysk8coach and gottalovethem, I have a almost 20 month old and am still here (I think she was 6 months old when the thread was started.) I actually started a thread when she was a few weeks old and it never took off like this one. We had to wait from some of the mommies to be to join.

Robin very cool about the job. You would be great at that. (and it won't be too much work for you.)

Tasha+Scott, congradulations! :cheer2:

zalansky, I haven't been able to check out your viedo yet, but look forward to it.

Hello everyone and hope all the babies are doing well. Here is to spring and less illness (hopefully) :cheer2:

I am off to a baker that makes cakes with out egg and milk (for Anna's 5th brithday party this week.) I hope it is good, I am a little worried about serving a vegan cake to such a large group. I wonder if I should get a small one for the family, and a big one for the party (normal) March is a big brithday month for us. My mom's is next week too. :goodvibes

Ok, I’ve been really busy and haven’t been able to hit the DIS. I’ll make an attempt to catch up here.

Hillbeans – that’s so great that you got an offer. I hope if I sell, I’m able to do it that fast. Homes seem to be sitting on the market here in south Jersey.

Robin – I’m so happy you found an answer to your problems. That job sounds perfect for you!

Tasha – I’m sorry your mom and brother have been hard on you. You’re a great mom! Also, congratulations on the birth of your newphew!

Loretta – Great video! How sweet! I love the pictures of Camryn with Connor.

Gottalovethem – Welcome!

Mantyskat8coach – Welcome to you too. Any child qualifies you for this thread!

Nucpharm – congratulations on both kids sleeping through the night! I hope it continues for you.

Buzznbellesmom – I hope Luke starts gaining too. Aidan had trouble gaining in his first few weeks and now he’s HUGE. I’m sure Luke will turn around and start gaining soon.

lissawynn - I have grades due soon too. I'm scrambling to get some more essay grades in before I calculate them. I'm also in the process of literally chasing kids to get them to make up work that they owe me. Fun stuff.

I'm not going to hop onto the weight loss thing just yet. My weight is fine. I just have to tone up. I can give some advice though. I can usually drop weight very easily by doing just a few things each day. I eat a high fiber cereal like Kashi and a piece of fruit each morning, I have a salad or sandwich on light bread with a fruit, some carrots and a yogurt for lunch and a sensible dinner. I usually can drop the weight I need within a week or two by doing that. I hope that helps but it sounds like everyone has a good plan already. I just need to seriously tone up. My problem is I don't have the time to exercise. It's impossible with my schedule. I'm going to try and exercise 3 times a week. I think that's a realistic goal for me. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, I don't have anything very exciting to report. This week has been crazy with meetings after school and all of Emily's activities. She has her ice skating demonstration on Friday and then skating will be over. Thank goodness! Aidan's separation anxiety seems to be getting worse lately. He freaks when I leave him each morning. The other day I just wanted to call in to work and tell them that's it, I'm done. My baby needs me. It sucks. DH has gotten absolutely no feedback from any jobs in NC. We're just sitting here in limbo. It's horrible. I want to move but we can't move if DH doesn't have a job. Lately, I'm freaked out by our nuclear power plant. I can seriously see it from my backyard. I don't know why it's suddenly bothering me now. We've lived in our town for 10 years. The news repported that Indian Point has a radioactive leak and it sent me into a frenzy. Well, send some pixie dust our way please!

WELCOME MANTYSK8MOM AND GOTTALOVETHEM! I think you will enjoy our thread- we are a chatty and extremely supportive bunch!

Val- It's NEVER too early to start planning! I think the earliest we planned was about 9-10 months out - we booked in mid May and out trip was at the end of the next February.

Jill- Wow, that will be cool to go to the Pilates place- I have never done Pilates or Yoga. I feel like my belly would get in the way, lol!

BuzznBellesmom- I will pray that Luke gains weight at his next check up! I know how stressful that is. And don't even feel like you should join us on the weight loss challenge! You need every extra calorie right now!

Nucpharm- I'm sorry your husband is feeling 'off'- that is scary! I hope he is OK and his BP is not high. YAY for Emma and Matthew sleeping well last night! :Pinkbounc Molly has had several nights (or maybe even weeks by now) where she has slept from about 8pm until 7am. It's a miracle! And long overdue! She did wake up at 10:30 last night, but I think it was because DH and his mother were having a yelling match on the phone. It wasn't pretty. Too long and boring of a story to go into. Basically just my MIL complaining non-stop, but not taking a stand about what she is complaining about- not willing to do anything about it, and it's making DH CRAZY.

He leaves tomorrow afternoon to do the first leg of the trip down there. They'll drive about 7 hours and stop to spend the night somewhere, since he still has to work a half day tomorrow....too hard to do the entire trip in one shot. And I'm so jealous (sorta)- he's taking the kids on a Jelly Belly factory tour on the way into San Jose (it's about an hour or so from SJ). Sam heard about it from his teacher and begged DH to take him. DH is taking the camera so I can do some Jelly Belly pages in the scrapbook!

I imagine I might hear from the Gymboree manager today. If I can truly set my own schedule at about 10-12 hours a week, I don't see any reason to not do it! We'll see. It's nice not HAVING to get the job- if it works out, awesome, if not, it's not the end of the world, we'll still manage just fine. On the one hand, I have been loving not having any outside demands on my time the last year and a half...on the other hand, I miss having contact with the 'outside world' and making some money.

Anyway, I did OK on the weight loss challenge yesterday- I ate probably 4 servings of produce; drank the H2O; did 20+ minutes of cardio; but ate probably too much chocolate. I couldn't resist a small chocolate bunny I had lying around. I really hope my 'friend' shows up soon because I'm sick of these PMS symptoms. I keep wondering, "Should I take a Preg test" (ACK) but we were VERY careful with birth control this last month and I know when I ovulated (very late- like 28 days into it) and I don't think we've been 'friendly' around or since that time. Stupid hormones.

I don't have much planned today- have to return something to Costco, and might go to the scrapbook store to get some things for my best friend's birthday next week, and a scrap swap I am in.

TTFN!

Wow! What a fun and encouraging board. You gals are awesome!

Robin - Good luck on the Gymboree thing, I hope it works well. I know how you feel. I freelance write and just got a great gig that has REALLY been helping (i have actually been able to buy the kids and myself some new clothes). The sad part though, is that it's almost done so my days of spending are about to end. I hope you get it!

Loretta & Tasha & Scott -- Leif is right in there with your kids at 6 mo. I believe 19 lb 4 oz and 26 1/4 inches

mantysk8coach & Stephanie -- A Wisconsin Dis play get together would be fun. It is a "small world" after all :smooth:

Somewhere in here there was talk of losing 10 -- I'm trying to lose 10 before Disney the last week of April. I joined the WISH boards for some help and encouragement.

Anways, hello to all. May you have a great day!

Congrats and Welcome, gottalovethem and mantysk8coach!

Gottalovethem - Congrats on transitioning to the crib.

Mantysk8coach - I agree, I'll be a "new mom" no matter how old DS is since he's my first also.

Alice28 - Good luck with the Gymboree job. Sounds like a great opportunity. I've never been to a play & music, but we have a few around here.

DisKim - How frustrating! I hope a job comes through for your DH soon. Sounds like you're itching to get out of there.

DisneyPhD - Good luck with the cake. You'll have to let us know how it goes over.

BuzznBelle'smom - Sending good thoughts Luke's way. I hope he can put on a few ounces.

llij - Good luck studying today. I hope your DD feels better soon.

vald1977 - It's never too early to start planning a trip IMO. We've been planning our October trip since last December.

nucpharm - Yay for Matthew and Emma sleeping through the night at the same time! I hope your DH feels better soon.

Tasha - Congrats on your new nephew!

Okay, I just made a little montage like Loretta did on that site. Here's the link if anybody's interested: http://www.onetruemedia.com/shared?p=39c8fceb1da1e186d8f90 . Now ds wants me to make one of him. I can see this becoming addicting ;) .

For some reason I cannot see anything, do I need special software?

OT -- DS3 is watching Lazy Town and they are singing something about eating apples and getting energy. So DS went to the fridge, got an apple, told me he's gonna eat he skin part too and is now singing the song :rotfl: Adorable!

nucpharm29,

Please let us know how your DH is feeling. :grouphug: Has he ever had a Lipid Panel done on a blood draw?

Robin,
Good luck with the Gymbo job. It sounds perfect for you.

mantysk8coach,

Welcome :sunny:

Gottalovethem,

Welcome :sunny:

Buzz&Belle'sMom,

:grouphug: I'm sure he'll start gaining soon.

Did any of you ladies watch the Real Housewives of Orange County last night? Lisawynn, was it you who said you were going to watch it?

I was shocked. You wouldn't believe these mothers. I don't even know how to describe it. The whole show was sickening.

Robin,
Keep us posted on the Essure procedure. I'm waiting for aunt flo to arrive. She's been an average of 5 days late since I had the procedure but I think that has more to do with the ablation I had. It drives my DH crazy. He always thinks I'm pregnant.

Kona has her well baby check next week. She is off the charts for weight and height. I'm not worried at all. All of my kids were fat as babies and now they are thin as can be. The Dr. was actually very happy she was so chubby when she had her Salmonella. It really helped her stay normal when she wasn't eating. She had plenty of fat reserves.

Have a great day. :sunny:

I'm so far behind!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Welcome to gottalovethem and mantysk8coach! We would love to have you join us!

gottalovethem - whatever works to get your kids to eat an apple huh? ;) I think I might record that episode and play it all the time!

vald - I need to go look at your video, I bet it's great. What a fun idea. I have so much software on my computer, I probably have the tools to do something like that and just don't know it! lol

alice - good luck with the job. That sounds right up your alley!! Keep us posted.

tasha - congrats on your nephew. No it's not evil to be a little happy that she had a csection. I don't like when women are just convinced that they know how things will go in the delivery room. "I will not have a csection no matter what"

zalansky - I love your video! That is one of the best songs ever. I remember hearing it for the first time when Dr. Green died on ER - I bawled like a baby! Cam is just gorgeous!

nucpharm - That's great that everyone is sleeping (now you need to! ;) ) I hope your husband gets checked out and they can figure out why he's so worn out. The stress of work can really take it's toll.

sl - Good job on the pilates. I agree, that stuff can wear you out and you don't even think you're working very hard.

diskim - I hope things work out for you guys! I can just hear the stress in your post.

disneyphd - That's great that you have a place that makes egg free cakes. I'm sure they are great, I don't think egg substitutes are that different. Let us know. I bet no one will know the difference.

buzznbellesmom - Good luck to you and Luke!

lissawynn - good luck with all your work stuff!

jill - good luck with all your studying too!

Hi to Joats! I hope things are going well with Jace. I think about you guys all the time!

We might be going to get DH a new truck tonight. Well, a new - used truck. He has 140,000 miles on his truck and I have 100,000 on my car. His truck isn't running very well right now so we are thinking we better do this soon. A huge part of me doesn't want to though because I'm not loving the thought of a car payment again. We've been without one for over a year. We should probably do it though or we'll be sticking a bunch of money into repairs and I don't want to do that either.

Anyone else have a squirmer that you practically have to strap down to get dressed or changed? It's driving me crazy! Even changing his diaper is a nightmare!

I should go, my monkey is trying to crawl up my leg.

Have a good day everyone!

Tamie

I made a video too!! I know, I'm shameless.
Lucas Video

val - yours is fantastic! I liked the song you chose.

gottalovethem - cute story about the apple!

tkyes - Good luck with the new truck.

floridafam - Good luck with the appointment next week.

Truth be told, I'm home alone with another raging headache and I'm bored out of my mind. Thanks to zalansky for letting us know about that video site.

I didn't, but I wonder if it is like the show "my sweet 16" or something like that were super solid bratty kids with no rediming qualities what so ever get parties that cost more then most people make in a year and act like brats. What they really needs is a good spanking and to be grounded for a month.

I would imagine that you at least walk away from the showing know that you are a good mommy, at least comparied to some. (who have every advtanage money can buy.) It just shows us that money can't buy it all.

vald1977, I just wacthed your video. I almost cried it was so sweet. Must make one for Anna's 5th birthday.

tkyes, good luck with the truck. What I do with Lily when changing is try to enage her in eye to eye contact. I ask her to do signs for me and or words. She really enjoys this so it works well. Sometimes I let her look at the book. She also likes to play peak a bo through her legs, but she sticks her hands down sometimes so I have to be careful!

Loretta--love the video!!! I guess it's a mom thing, but watching all the pics made me tear up--I guess it just makes me think how quickly they grow up--Matthew will be 5 months in a couple of weeks and it just seems like the other day that I was prego! Thank you for sharing that with us! I have to tell DH to update our website with new pics now!

Me Too!!!! :sad1: It must be a mom thing - that is such a wonderful video , I think the song helps with it being so lovely too!

I have to go watch everyone's videos.

DH makes movies with his imovie software. Is it something similar?

floridafam, to be honest, I have no idea despite the fact that my DH does video editing for fun. All I had to do was upload my song and pictures and the site did the rest. That's why some of the zooms and pans cut off the pictures in weird places. You can choose the order of the pictures, but it seems to me that's all the control I had. For free, anyway.
