The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

Enter Taweret

And guess what this babe is the Egyptian goddess of? Fertility. She's also the protector of pregnancy and childbirth.

Also the necklace Amy takes off Paul is an Ank a symbol of Life.

And lastly to really try to get you to chase this theroy when John went to see Hurley, Hurley was painting a Sphynx!

Is it all a Red Herring? Or are we heading down a path that leads to Egypt, by way of Tunisia?

Actually, I must have posted this on the other thread... I think that the statue is Anubis--the Egyptian guardian and judge of the dead. He is holding an ankh (also the necklace is an ankh) which is the symbol of eternal life. The countdown clock said "underworld" according to what the writers said at comicon I don't think that's a spoiler, but better safe than sorry.
Plus we've got Horace--Horus is the god of the sky and has a LOT of parallels with Jesus (which has been coming up lately).

(BTW I figured out all the Egyptian stuff myself, but I researched and confirmed it all and then to my joy http://lost.cubit.net has a great article. And it's not a spoiler--just more of an easter egg.

Nice catch with Ra!! Love that.
But I think the eyeliner is cuz he's a pirate from the Black Rock. Both of which got brought up in the last episode, with Sawyer's shipwreck cover story and his eyeliner guy joke.:rotfl2: :cool1:

I saw a screen capture of the statue on the show next to pictures of sculptures of Anubus and Taweret and Anubus is much thinner, the island statue and Taweret (how do I say this correctly?) got back. They have some as my grandmother would have said "child bearing hips"

This really leads me to think that its her rather than Anubus.

That leads to the final question which is it has been noted every where that Richard Alpert has what looks like eye liner on and according to historians both males and females in the Egyiptian culture were known to where it. His initials are RA, Ra was the Egyiptian sun god. Is Richard an ageless god who has been on the island forever?

These are the kinds of things that keep me thinking about this crazy show all week long till the next episode comes on.

Oh, I love the connection with the intials being RA!!

Do you have a link for the screen captures and pictures of Taweret and Anubus? I would love to see them. Thanks!

scroll down to LaFleur Recap and Analysis by Erika hit the click to continue reading and there is all of Erika's recap of this weeks show with the pictures. This is the source for all of the comments I have posted here.

The link will take you to the main page, but DO NOT hit the spoiler link unless you are into those because I don't want to be the guy who ruins things for everyone.

But Anubus is known to wear or carry an ankh...and Taweret looks more like a Hippo, but I totally agree that it could be her. Either one has interesting links...

Kycha go to http://lost.cubit.net and then just go to google and do an image search for Taweret.

Look at the link I posted, the fez looking hat is the deciding factor for me. She has it Anubus does not.

I have another question. When Locke came to the real world, it had been around 4-5 days since the freighter blew up and the O6 left. But, it had been much much longer since the O6 remember leaving. Sayid had already left Ben, Jack was going on his beard growing pill popping rampage, etc. So much longer than 4-5 days.

But then in LaFleur, 3 years have passed since Locke left. When the O6 do return, it seems like only a couple of months (maybe?) have passed since they saw Locke.

So I'm really confused, which is weird because I usually 'get' things fine. Someone care to explain?

They had been timeshifting for about 4 days when Locke turned the wheel. He moved foward 3 years when he landed in Tunisia.

Back on the island, the timeshifting stopped on the island and they assimilated themselves with Dharma and passed 3 years there.

So, it has been 3 years for everyone, except Locke because he lost time when he left the island by way of the wheel.

Okay. DUH. I didn't even consider that Locke time-traveled after turning the FDW. I just assumed he landed in Tunisia in present time (2005).

My understanding was that when Ben went through the special door, he knocked it off it's axis because he wasn't meant to go through there. Locke was. Once Locke went through, it made everything right again. So, I imagine when Widmore went through, he was supposed to.

I am a bit confused - What year do we think Widmore went through? How old was he then?

On a different note, I thought it was very telling that Sawyer didn't tell Juliette about Jin's call. I think if he really was completely over Kate he would have at least told her. Obviously their bond isn't air tight. Should be interesting!

Anyone notice that LaFleur was the first time they actually told us when they were flashing back/flashing forward?

Seemed out of character to me.

It makes better television if he isn't over her. I'd hope that after 3 years, he'd stick with the one who has his back. :goodvibes

We don't know for sure. But the evidence suggests that Widmore was exiled sometime in the 80's. Widmore told Locke that he was the leader of the Others for 3 decades. We know that Widmore was on the island in 1954. And Miles said in 2005 that Widmore had been searching for the island for 20 years.

If Widmore was on the island until the 80's would that mean that Penny was born on the island (simply based on her age)? :scratchin Which leads me to wonder who Penny's mother is, perhaps Ellie/Eloise who could also be Faraday's mother? :scratchin That would mean that Penny and Daniel are siblings. :scratchin

Yes it would!!! and that is my theory exactly!!

Also, on the time travel thing. Here is a direct quote from a transcript of an Official Lost Podcast from 2/28/08.

" Damon Lindelof: Just a quick sort of side note in terms of the way that we deal with time travel on the show - we are very paradox averse; that is to say, when our characters are time traveling, nothing that they do can change the present or the future that you have seen. Which is different than you know, the conventional Back to the Future time travel story telling."

So, there is no going back to the past to change the future. BTW, Damon Lindelof is an executive producer of Lost. Here is the link to the transcript page
http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Official_Lost_Podcast_transcript/February_28,_2008_(audio)

This actually makes sense to me. However it also would imply that none of the characters can change the present or future, even Des.

Thanks Heidict your explanation was simple and seems to have helped put everything into place for me! :thumbsup2

Guess I need to do some Egyptian studies before the next show....maybe that's why we have to wait two weeks. :rotfl:

If Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping and Michael Shanks show up, I'm gonna be real pissed :lmao:
