The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

Umm...did you read what the rest of us said?

Ummmm....not before I posted. I don't have the luxury of time to read the whole thread and then go back and find the post I want to comment about. And I still am with Amy. I firmly believe what Daniel said about people being the variable and about free will. We don't yet know if anything can or will change. It remains to be seen. I suspect that what Daniel whispered to Charlotte will prove that in the future.

Sorry! I didn't mean that 'umm' to sound as condescending as I now realize it does!!

I totally don't begrudge anyone's theories! it's just a TV show. Sorry I came off all stupid! :flower3: Can you forgive this crabby pregnant lady who has to do 3 storytimes today? :goodvibes

My VCR stopped right at the point that Daniel had been shot. What happened after that?

umm...he died...lol

Sorry, couldn't help it. Did you hear what he said? Ellie (his mom) shot him and then Dan looked at her and said, "You knew, you knew all this time and you let me come back." and Ellie said, "what are you talking about?"--all mean like and Dan said "Luke, I'm your...no...that wasn't it--"I'm your son." And she sorta looked confused/horrified.

I think that was it? Or was the piano scene after that?

Umm...did you read what the rest of us said?

Daniel dying reinforces the "whatever Happened, Happened" rule. Nothing has happened that changes or goes against that rule.

I've always said that this is a TV show and if they want to change their own rules then they definitely can, but Daniel's behavior on the show last night just reinforces it all...

And if, in the end, I'm wrong and they pull a terrible 'none of this ever happened, because we changed the future thing' I'll be the first in line eating crow, but being uber POed that I put this much effort into this show. But I HIGHLY doubt that will happen! :thumbsup2

I agree completely. If we are wrong I will eat the second crow LOL!

Also Daniel still told Charlotte all the things that Charlotte remembered him telling her (just before she died). She even mumbled about the not eating chocolate before bed. So far nothing in the past has changed.

If they do somehow interfere with the past causing a change in the future, and they don't crash on 815, then they wont be sent back to 1977 to make the changes. It's just not logical to think that there can be two 1977s.

You totally forgot about that part where the polar bears come into the hostiles camp, take Daniels body and convert it into fish biscuits!! :lmao:

Well, actually we don't know for sure everything he said to her last night. He told her more than we were privy to. The camera went away as he was about to tell her more and then it went to Kate and Jack getting guns. He joined them a few minutes later.

This is from the transcripts
CHARLOTTE: I'm not allowed to have chocolate before dinner.

FARADAY: [Sighs] It's okay, sweetheart. I won't tell.

CHARLOTTE: My name's Charlotte. What's yours?

FARADAY: I'm Daniel. I'm new here. Listen. Do you know Dr. Chang?

CHARLOTTE: Uh-huh.

FARADAY: Yeah? Hopefully really soon, Dr. Chang is gonna ask a bunch of people to get on the submarine and leave the Island. [Voice breaks] When he does, you and your mommy... you're gonna have to leave. In case what I do doesn't work, you cannot be here. You have to leave. [Cries] I tried to avoid telling you this. I didn't think I could change things. But maybe I can.

And then he said you have to leave and never come back. If you come back you will die. We know that is what he said because that is what Charlotte remembered him saying. If it had been different she would have remembered differently. He tried not to tell her that but he did anyway just like everyone is doing exactly what they were suppose to do. Because it already happened.

LOVE how that was the last thing she said before she died!! She was telling Faraday that he told her never to come back then she said this line and at the time, we just thought she was talking crazy but she was still remembering their conversation!

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I remember exactly what he said to her and I even still have it on DVR....Yes, he said all those things on camera up to 'But maybe I can'....then the camera went to Jack and Kate. He arrives a few minutes later. He could have said anything. We do not know with certainty what he actually said to her at that point and that is all I'm trying to say.

The rest of what we 'think' he said last night was said in a different episode by Charlotte to Daniel as she was dying. He could have changed his mind and said something else or have said more....

Do we know for sure that Daniel died? I didn't actually see that unless I missed something.

Also, the island has a way of "healing" people!!!!

I don't think we'll ever know that anyone is really, really dead until the series finale!

Even actors who had no further contract with the show have come back (Michael, Ana Lucia (not that either of them were brought back from the dead, per say).

You totally forgot about that part where the polar bears come into the hostiles camp, take Daniels body and convert it into fish biscuits!! :lmao:

Yeah, and the Black Rock magically floated back to the water with Captain Richard Alpert at the helm ..all dreamy and eye-linered up.:lmao:...and a bunch of the unnamed hostiles as his crew

And then Smokey turned into an Egyptian god and killed anyone annoying, cuz he was just sick of all of the drama, which left Hugo alone on the island--but Richard came back and got him and now they sail the seas (and Hugo is skinny)...

K, done now...:thumbsup2

What I had indented was from the transcripts. What was not indented was just my opinion. Sorry I should have made that clearer the first time. :thumbsup2

I don't have the luxury of time to read the whole thread and then go back and find the post I want to comment about.
Just as an FYI -- it's easy to do this if you multi-quote. :)

Instead of clicking the "quote" box on someone else's post, click the box right next to it, with a quotation mark and a plus sign. The plus sign changes to a minus sign, and you keep reading. Click as many as you like, then when you're done, click "reply", and all of the quotes will show up within your one post, so you can go back and answer as many as you want.

I always seem to click on a ton of posts, then end up deleting half of them because someone else already responded the way I was going to! :rotfl:

Hmmm. who could that be? I don't remember any women off island that would fit?

Helen (Locke's girlfriend, not British)
Claire's Aunt Lindsey (maybe not old enough, and she is Austrailian not British)
Kate's mother but again not British, but could have been raised by Widmore alone?
Carmen (Hurley's mom LOL) wouldn't it be great if Penny and Hurly were bro/sis :rotfl:

Is there anyone that this could be? :confused3 :confused3

Not only am I laughing at the thought of Penny and Hurley being brother and sister; but also at the thought of Widmore hooking up Carmen!:scared1:

Just throwing this out there.......someone else you didn't mention - how about Claire's mother? We know she got around!:rolleyes1

Nothing has been proven yet. All that happened is Daniel had alterted his theory. The episoded ended still in a 'what happened, happened' state. Next episode looks like some people will test Daniel's revised theory...we don't know the results of that.

Umm...did you read what the rest of us said?

Daniel dying reinforces the "whatever Happened, Happened" rule. Nothing has happened that changes or goes against that rule.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, Daniel said last night that they (the Losties) are the variables and that they CAN change the future. Whether their actions actually DO change the future remains to be seen. So for the next week (or until the writers say otherwise), I can say that I was right. So there!;);) There must be some reason why Daniel said that Jack, Kate et al were NOT where they were supposed to be.

And that whole bit where if they don't crash they can't go back to 1977 to change things......I'm a believer in a straight-line time theory, not circular. 1977 had to happen a first time, when the Losties were little kids. Time progressed and they grew up and then went back to 1977. What was 1977 like the first time before their adult selves time-traveled back?

I'm with beattyfamily on this one: since Daniel said that maybe they CAN change things, and the last thing Daniel said to Charlotte before the camera cut away was: "I didn't think I could change things. But maybe I can". *I* think Daniel said something different to Charlotte this time.

Blast from the past here...we've been rewatching season 2. In the episode called Dave they have Ben (still being called Henry Gale) locked in the hatch and someone makes a reference to God and Ben says "even God doesn't know about this island". He also drove Locke crazy saying he didn't push the button. But he did say that the numbers had changed to some Egyptian pictures. I think he was trying to throw them off track and can't wait to find out more about the temple and statue in upcoming(2009-2010) episodes.

Funniest line from that show...Bernard wants Mr. Eko to help him build and SOS and Mr. Eko won't help (he's building his church) and Bernard says "I liked you better when you used to hit people with your big stick" :rotfl2:

One of my big questions in season 2 is Libby!

We never get her back story! We know she was in the crazy house with Hurley. We also know she owned the boat and gave it to Desmond...but we never get her back story :confused3

I believe the temple is a half buried pyramid. That is why the writers can't show it to us. We now know what we thought was the temple is only the walls and the temple is inside. They are so careful not to show it to us and the only reason they could have is we would KNOW the design.
We have seen many hints of Egyptian culture so that is my guess.

As to old smokey ~ that drawing of him on the wall. That was Anubis, the Egyptian God of death and judgement.
ERRRR that would make Smokey kind of powerful if you ask me :lmao: Anubis kneeling down and being judged by old smokey? err....
