I will be so mad if this all turns out in the end to not have happened. Hello writers remember the Dallas ending?! It would be a shame to have the progress of the characters just be erased and have them back at the beginning.

This would totally make me want to fly to LA and smack some people! Although, didn't they promise us years ago that they would not do an 'it's all a dream' type of explanation.

I absolutely believe that Daniel's plan is part of the incident. Remember when we first met Desmond and they were concerned about radiation? The Hatch was quarantined and Kelvin had that HazMat suit when he went outside. The people in the Swan station (the Hatch) were concerned with radiation levels not just the electromagnetism. Radiation = bomb.

Thinking out loud here: what if they DO succeed in changing the past, and the plane doesn't crash? Would that explain all the dead people (Christian, Charlie, Eko) who are still appearing to the Losties? Maybe they're not meant to be dead in 2004-2007, so the Losties were sent back to 1977 FOR THE PURPOSE OF CHANGING THE PAST so that these people don't die? Does this make sense to you?

How about Eloise's comment at the hospital that this was the first time in a long time that she did not know what was going to happen? She has a much bigger role in all of this than we have seen yet! I was so upset that she sent Daniel back to the island knowing that she would harm him. Do we really know who Penny's mom is? Is it Eloise? Did they pull a "parent trap" and each raise one of the kids?

Penelope and Daniel are half brothers and sister. Widmore is there dad but they have different mothers. Remember when Widmore was banished from the island a few episodes ago. Ben told him that he broke the rules by having a relationship with another woman off the island and that he had a daughter. That was Penelope. But he also left Ellie there on the island who had Daniel. That must mean that Daniel is also on the island as a little boy right?

I think she doesn't know anymore because maybe the last thing she knew about the island in terms of people from the future is that at some point she killed her son...so she knew at some point they had to go back. Now that she had sent him and the losties back to do that it's out of her hands and that was the only insight she had into the future from her time on the island.

But he also left Ellie there on the island who had Daniel. That must mean that Daniel is also on the island as a little boy right?

Unless Daniel was younger than Penny, then maybe Widmore and Ellie hooked up OFF the island. Daniel's nose never really bled so I'm not sure he was there before, and if he was it wasn't very long.

Daniel's mom is evil. She stripped him of his childhood. Forcing him to "cultivate" his gift and not allowing him to have fun in other things, like playing the piano. That'a not a mother, that's a drill instructer. Poor kid. Never knew his father, pushed constantly by his mother then killed by her. What kind of person would purposefully send their only child back to the island, knowing full well that you shot him in the past? Evil, evil woman. I hate her now.

Seeing Daniel with Charolette was so sad.

I agree with you - Eloise is evil and I don't trust her. And every time I look at her, I just keep picturing her character in the movie "The Others."

I can't help but think Eloise is somewhat evil. But what if she's not eveil. What if she knew that Daniel would be shot but would recover and otherwise be fine and that is why she sent him back?

Zue, Daniel was a professor at Oxford in 1996. Even if he was a very young 20 year old professor that would make him born in 1976. So I think he was on the island with his mom.

Daniel had a constant (Desmond). Remember last season when Desmond was on the freighter he was flashing between 1996 and the present (2004). Daniel told him to go to Oxford that his conscience had to find a constant. That made the flashes stop for Desmond. Then he wrote in his journal "should anything happen Desmond Hume will be my constant" That is why he can time travel and not be harmed by the effects because of the constant.

Claire's Aunt Lindsey (maybe not old enough, and she is Austrailian not British)
Kate's mother but again not British, but could have been raised by Widmore alone?
Carmen (Hurley's mom LOL) wouldn't it be great if Penny and Hurly were bro/sis

Ok all you "what happened, happened" folks - what do you have to say for yourselves NOW, huh?!! (blows raspberries) Looks like I was right all along - they CAN change the past!

Well, they might have been able to change the past until Daniel got shot. We'll see what happens - from the previews it looks like they're going to use Daniel's journal to do what they can do to stop "The Incident".

Hmm, I actually think the "whatever happened, happened" theory was just made stronger by the fact that Daniel was shot and now CAN NOT change the past, like he'd planned. It does seem like they are going to try to use his notebook to stop "the incident" but I'm not sure they will succeed.

No, the people that we know 2007 (or whatever year it is for them) but are stuck in 1977 are in THEIR PRESENT. If they die now, it will not erase THEIR past. Their past is still their past.

I have a feeling that they will not blow up the hydrogen bomb. I think they're quest to prevent the incident might actually lead to the incident happening itself. Ya know what I mean?

This is what I think too. Daniel's dying reinforces the Whatever Happened, happened" rule. Especially because we know that Ellie knew she was going to kill him, so it ALWAYS happened.

I told DH last night that whatever the losties do in the last two episodes will lead to the Incident and cause the future. There is absolutely no way they will 'fix' things and undo every single thing we've seen from the first episode. That would be so totally stupid.

The Incident will through them back to the future where we will take up next season with everyone back together in 2007.

If this was the last season of Lost I could see the future change thing happen (it would be TOTALLY lame though) but we still have a full season to go.

There were some GREAT one-liners last night. I loved Sawyer calling Daniel "Twitchy" and the whole scene with Daniel/Miles/Dr Chang was great too. I really hated Daniel in the episode though--it cushioned him dying for me. I want him to be the strong scientific guy all the time and him going back on his own rule really bugs me, especially since him saying that people are the varible makes absolutely no sense. Oh well, gotta go change my Facebook fav 5 Lost characters...

If she can convince her son to go back to the island, knowing his fate, I don't really think she meant it when she said the island is their destiny. Didn't Daniel tell them last night that they are not where they are supposed to be?

What is it with these die hard island people? They care about nobody, not even the lives of their own children. It's all about the island, it's safety, it's destiny. They are beyond consumed and controlled by this island. What the heck is there about it that makes it so special and amazing that it would convince you that shooting your own child is the right thing to do?


I read the other day, something that Damon or one of them said. "The whole purpose was never to get off the island." He went on to say something along the lines of that fact that they are supposed to be on the island, that getting off would never be the end result.

Nothing has been proven yet. All that happened is Daniel had alterted his theory. The episoded ended still in a 'what happened, happened' state. Next episode looks like some people will test Daniel's revised theory...we don't know the results of that.

Daniel dying reinforces the "whatever Happened, Happened" rule. Nothing has happened that changes or goes against that rule.

I've always said that this is a TV show and if they want to change their own rules then they definitely can, but Daniel's behavior on the show last night just reinforces it all...

And if, in the end, I'm wrong and they pull a terrible 'none of this ever happened, because we changed the future thing' I'll be the first in line eating crow, but being uber POed that I put this much effort into this show. But I HIGHLY doubt that will happen!

I never saw The Others, but it sounds like she makes a habit of playing evil characters. Anyone who has seen Brotherhood on Showtime, knows she's no candidate for Mother of the Year.
