The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

I have fundementally agreed with you harley on the time thing that the end always stays the same, but where we have differed slightly is that I think the means can change, but the end can't. What this guy is proposing is that the whole game can change. Some of his examples can be explained away, the size of trees and the condition of some of the buildings, however the one point he makes which is pretty valid is the comment about the Dharma pictures. The Welcome Center that they are hanging in appears to me to be the same room that Kate was held prisoner in when she, Sayid and Lock went looking for Jack after he had done surgery on Ben. This weekend I want to go back and see if I can find the episode where they have her in that room and see if those pictures are there. I do agree with his idea that if they were still there during the time the Others lived there that it would be creepy seeing pictures of all the people you killed.

His comments can be found on the mainpage of the Dark UFO website. Several pages back they published his comments from a couple of seasons ago about where he thought things were going and I must admit he did a pretty good job of seeing what was coming. I love the show and by no means claim to be an expert at it and don't spend mucj time on it, but if you read some of these peoples recaps and theroies it is amazing the depth they go finding information. Much of what I talk about here is derived from these commentors.

Yes, Loved Ben. I was wondering when they were going to introduce him.
I agree- I don't think Daniel is dead.
Yes, the episode flew by. We heard the kids talking in what I thought was the middle of the episode. We paused it and told them to go to bed. When I hit play again I only had 2 minutes left!! I was so mad.
Not sure about Sun. I think it is that she did or didn't do something right to re-create the original flight exactly as Eloise had warned. Maybe she was sitting in the wrong seat, or, I don't know, FORGOT HER DAUGHTER!!

Maybe because Jin wasn't there? Or it could have something to do with Kate, Jack and Hurley being three fourths of the group that the Others took captive back in season 1?

I totally agree--I can't imagine they would have left Dharma pictures hanging around after they killed everyone in the Purge--it doesn't make sense. but it can be explained in different ways...Christian (Jacob? The Island?) being one where maybe he's distorting reality. Or maybe within the 3 years since we've seen the area Dharma came back?? Both are MAJOR stretches and with an episode named "Whatever Happened, Happened" I really feel like we're going to be thrown a time travel curveball.

Plus, I've always agreed with you that for fiction telling purposes the "whatever happened, happened" rules of time travel aren't my favorite. I like to think you can change things with prior knowledge...otherwise it's just pointless to live through things...

I wouldn't mind if they threw us a curveball--otherwise we already know too much about what will happen.

I don't think the Dharma signs were on the baraks where the Dharma people or the Others lived previously. The building we saw the signs on was the Welcome Center where the new Dharma recruits were screened after they came off the sub. The Others many not have used this building once they took over.

Well that pier is where the sub came in, the sub that Juliette came in on. I highly doubt that they left Dharma signs up to greet Juliette when she arrived.

Also, yes they were not at the houses in this episode, but the houses are right next to the "welcome center" and the one building that housed those pictures is the "current" rec room that Kate was held in for a while.

I have seen on other sites that people are speculating that Christian or smokey made those buildings look like that to convince Sun. I don't know if I buy that theory though.

I also have a question, did we actually see Keamy and his me blow up more then just the house Claire was living in?

I don't think that is the sub pier. There have been two distinct piers in Lost. The first we saw was the one where Ben gave Michael the boat so he and Walt could escape the island. I think that is the one we saw Wednesday night. It's also the one that Sayid, Sun, and Jin landed at when they sailed Desmonds sailboat around the island. I watched the episode where Julliette arrives at the island via the sub and it is very clear that that dock is in a lagoon of some sort because beyond the sub you see that it is an inlet or harbor type area. The other pier is sort of straight out into the surf.

I think we are in for a total game changer in the next several episodes. I think next week Sayid attemps to kill the young Ben because he knows who he is and from there everything goes haywire. Dharma starts wondering who Sawyer, Julliette, Jin, Miles, and Faraday really are and what the heck is their relationship with Hurley, Kate and Jack. The look on that security guys face when Jack asked where LaFluer lived was pretty telling that you just don't go knock on this guys door at night. Remember how scared the two were when they had to go tell LaFluer that they had a "situation" with Horace? They were actually scared to do it. I think an explaination of how Sawyer became head of security would say a lot about whats been going on for the three years they have been there. Also I think Ben, Sun and Frank somehow make it back to 1977. Christian sort of opened the door when he said "you have a difficult jouney ahead of you". Sort of like I know why your here (looking for Jin) and I can get you there but it won't be easy.

I really love this show even though it sometimes hurts my brain.

Remember the "LISTS" ben kept referring to in the beginning? He said certain losties were and were not on Jacob's list? The group that the others took captive were on a list too? I wonder if that is related ~ Sun wasn't on the original list or something??? Its a long shot but maybe someone here can fill in the blanks?

I haven't bought into either theory about the welcome center changing. Still pondering that one

I still have a feeling they aren't really going to change the rules.

I think the Losties will try and kill little Ben which turns him into evil older Ben who has always known way too much about each Lostie.

I think Sun will make it back to 77, but I don't know about Frank and Ben...

All I know is I love this show so much right now. There have been times over the years when I found it more frustrating than enjoyable. But it's all paying off now. every episode we learn something that makes us a little bit closer to getting to the point! lol

Couldn't the dock where Sun and Frank were be the same as the sub. dock? If I remember correctly Locke blew up the sub. which I'm assuming would have caused damage to the dock. That might explain the light posts being down and such.

Loved Sawyer having the upperhand on Jack last night!! :rotfl2: Jack was just squirming. Can't wait for the cat fight night week with Kate and Juliet. Hope Juliet scratches her up good!! :cheer2:

Hope Desmond is okay and just went back to the mainland on the sub or something. I was starting to like him. :sad1:

How creepy was that, with Sun and Frank coming into the village at night and it was all busted up and falling apart. I swear, when the door opened, I was thinking it was going to be Jin, just 30 years older.

I am thinking that was a diff dock. When Juliet arrived wasn't the dock beside the 4 toed statue?

Yes, Yes, And Yes! I was on the edge of my seat when the door opened. I was hoping for a Jin/Sun reunion.

Nevermind, I think I was confused. Juliet arrived at the same dock the others arrived at last night.

Yes I think that is the same dock. They said that the Sub had some sort of homing device that took it back and forth to the mainland. I can't imagine they had 2 subs.

I think I'll go back and watch the scene where Locke blows up the sub and see what buildings are there.

I have all four seasons on DVD and have gone back and looked and there are definately two different docks. I recall reading that there is a question as to whether the sub was really blown up or not because when the Producers were asked a question during an interview about why Lock was all wet when he came back from blowing it up that maybe he just submerged it instead of blowing it up.

What? Des wasn't in the episode at all, was he? Did I miss something?

Have not seen him since he stormed out of the church when Hawkins was explaining how the O6 were going to get back to the island.

This show is so fantastic - but VERY confusing!!!

I really like the Richard Alpert character, so interesting. Does he have/need a constant?

I'm still a big Jack fan and see no reason for Sawyer to be so rude to him, even though it does go with his (Sawyer's) mo. I like Sawyer too, but I still like Jack as the real hero.

I'm still a bit confused about the asian baby, but I also am thinking it must be Miles. :confused3

If they are going to bring someone back, why couldn't they bring back Goodwin!????? He was great! wow - miss him! :lovestruc

Also: Weren't we supposed to find out this past episode what Sawyer whispered to Kate, and what happened to Aaron, or is that just sometime this season?
