The "Official" June 2013 Thread

I could be wrong, but I don't think they have ever offered free dining in June. I went through all the dates of discounts listed since 2009 on Mousesavers.com and didn't see it. Last year there was a room only discount, which is what we used. Here's the list if you would like to look to see if I missed something. http://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/

Thanks..I know it has not been historically offered but I am also a "paranoid freak" when it comes to get the best deal..lol

I am on the facebook group..It's a great source. I priced out the villas and David Vacation Rental came out cheaper because I was looking that the Animal Kingdom 2 Bedroom Villa: Value not Standard room but I have checked both. I want the Villa because my grandmother is coming and I think if it was too hot she would enjoy relaxing at a villa with a couch instead of a value but we'll see if I can talk everyone into it.

Thanks for the advice!

We've gone in June several times over the last 10 years and I also don't remember free dining ever being a general public discount that month. We did, however, get a free dining PIN code for our trip in June 2011 which saved us over $1K. I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen again, though. :sad2:

I haven't done the math in a while, but I really think for our family the free dining would work out to be the better discount. We are a family of four and the DSs are 13 & 14 (would be 14 & 15 at trip time). That makes us 4 Disney adults. While I won't complain about just getting a room only discount, I would really love free dining. Right now, I just can't see us being able to go during a time of year they offer free dining. With the DS's school, sports, and band we just can't do it. I would love to take them out of school for a week to go to WDW, but I just don't think it would be good for them. I had thought about doing that, but with the way they learn I just can't do it.

Free dining was definitely the most money we ever saved on a trip. When we went in 2009 we did the Buy 4/Get 3 deal (room and tickets) and even with 7 people and 2 rooms at Pop, it still saved us significantly less than the free dining did last year. Our discount in 2009 was a little under $700. Now, if we had a family of 4 with both kids being under 9 and stayed at a deluxe resort, a room discount would probably be the better deal. But for the way we do Disney, free dining wins...unless the room discount is 50% or more. :)

I hear ya on the taking the kids out of school issue. We did that in 2009 (went in May...during Monsoon week) when our oldest boys were in college (they finished up for the semester the week before we went) and the younger kids were in elementary school. We knew we could keep up with the work at that level so we decided if we were ever going to take them out of school for a trip, that was the only time we were going to be able to do it. Once they got to middle school it would be much more difficult and nearly impossible in high school. Our high school uses block scheduling so missing one day of that is more like missing 2 days of a traditional schedule. Missing a week could be devastating. And since sports and band rehearsals start in late July/August, our days of going to Disney during a slower time when discounts are more available are over for the next 10 years. June is really the only month we can go (other than the crazy times of Thanksgiving and Christmas) so we plan our trips assuming we'll pay rack rate for everything. If a discount comes out for when we're going, that's a nice bonus. I do look forward to the day when DH & I can plan a trip to Disney just because there's a great discount available. :)

Here they can elect to do football all summer. I meant to sign up the oldest DS for it this year, but I forgot and didn't get the money turned in on time. They are allowed to take time off for vacation. They don't start serious, can't miss practices until early August.

Booked at POFQ for June 15-23 2013

We planned this trip as a reward for being debt free this December. We are going June 13th- 24th ! We are a large family of 9. We are staying and eating offsite. Except for snacks. I intend to snack my way across Disney. :rotfl2: My goal was to not cook or clean anything for 2 weeks. We figured with 12 days we have time to leave the parks to eat and rest. We are driving down from NC and stopping one night on the way there and back. I can't wait !!! :cool1:

Congrats on being debt free!! :dance3:

I did some pricing last night and tried to talk to the DH about it. He keeps saying that we aren't going again this soon. Before every other trip (except this last one b/c he was the one that did the pricing for it) he has said that we weren't going, that I was crazy to think we were, and then we ended up going. Well last night I said, "just let me put the $200 deposit down. Then if the world end's on December 21, you don't have to finish paying off the trip, b/c the world would have ended before our trip, but you let me go into the end of the world thinking you were going to let us go to WDW again. Or come June 2013, you'll be so happy the world didn't end on December 21 that you'll want to celebrate by going to WDW again." He was so amused by my reasoning, that he listened to all of my pricing.

maybe just maybe - hardest thing is when coming from Australia you want to do other places to make airfare worthwhile. dw is saying if we go we have to go to NYC. the things we do, will have to put myself out. lol

well it looks like dl, wdw, sfo, NYC.

happy 40th to me.

One ? though- how Do you get the free dining pins when they come out? how do you know they are out? had never saw it offered on our 03,05,11 trips. I know they may not happen but would like to keep eyes out.

oops 1 other thing- if you book without free dining and it becomes available how do you then get it?

Joining in! We are booked June 19-28 at AoA. First time at a value but the food court sounds interesting. Planning a 3 week vaca to California but if it falls thru there's always WDW. :)

Hi guys :)

I'm in and subbing! We are planning to go to CSR June 15-22 or 23. I haven't booked yet but I will in the next couple of weeks. I'm hoping for a free doing code!!! :-). I will keep checking back in here to see if anyone else will be at CSR at the same time :)

Wilderness Lodge June 8th-15th hoping this website can help plan our days for us. I have no clue where to begin.

That sounds like an amazing trip!! I would love to make it to your country one day. I have a friend that I used to play World of Warcraft with that lives in Melbourne, and I would love to go and watch a Geelong match. Aussie football looks like so much fun to watch!!

This is a great place to start planning a WDW trip. There is just so much information. Plus it's really nice to get information from people that have been there the same time you are planning on going.

We are in! DD18 wants to go to WDW for her graduation from high school. So we will be there 6/1-6/9. I haven't booked yet because we are renting points for AKV - Jambo and the owner has to wait on the 7 month window. If that doesn't pan out, we will look at AoA probably.

Just wanted to sub in- We don't have the dates yet, but we'll be going mid-June and staying at ASM!
