The "Official" June 2013 Thread

We will be driving about 12 hours from Southern Indiana and arriving June 1st. We're hoping to check out some of the Star Wars Weekends while we are there!

We haven't officially booked yet, but we'll either be staying at Pop or AoA. Hoping for some kind of room or dining pin before we book. :cool1: (don't want to book to soon and let Disney think their rooms are full enough to not give out deals :rotfl2:) Since we are going this December as well, we will be buying an annual pass, so a room only discount would be great but free dining would be AWESOME! :bounce:

Free Dining would be great!! Especially, since for our family we have 4 "Disney adults". Since you're going in December, maybe you'll get a bounce back offer in your room. You could always book the June trip with that, and then rebook it if a better offer comes out. We got one while we were there in June, but I couldn't get the DH to book another trip at the time. Hopefully, this next trip, we will be able to do more SWW stuff. We didn't this last trip b/c we hadn't planned on being there on one of the days. We were supposed to have been at Cocoa Beach, but ended up extending our WDW stay since it was raining. We figured that we could do more at WDW in the rain than at Cocoa Beach. Really the only thing we did was the create your own R2D2. I hope they do the Carbon-Freeze thing again this next year. I would love to get one done of the DSs. Oh and I also HAVE to get the R2D2 cup. I got the popcorn bucket, but by the time I found out about the cups, the pace selling them was closed for the night and it was our last night there.

Except we cheaped out for this trip and are staying off site in Celebration. Figured just the two of us...no kids...we could survive. :)

Had to make some cuts on this one so we could afford to go again so quickly with my boyfriend's son as soon as school gets out.

Ah, then hopefully we'll get some great discounts this next June. When we booked our June trip, we were planning on going in January 2013. I caught my DH in our locked bedroom with a laptop on his tummy laying in bed. I caught him red handed, pricing WDW trips. The discounts were so good, that my DH was the one that suggested we book for June.

We are looking at June 2013 as well. Haven't been in the parks since January 2010 after our 1st Disney cruise. We cruised again in 2011 and then took this year off from Disney--definitely not my idea:(. Will leave as soon as school is out. My tentative dates are June 6-14. Trying to get our friends to go with us. Might also take my nephew and great nephew who will be 4. Love to take little ones to Disney!

Not sure where we will stay. I keep checking different resorts, different room configurations and even concierge :surfweb:. We will be using the military room discount but probably not the military tickets as I definitely need more than 4 days in the parks!

I just figured out what day I an make the ADRs for our June trip. I'll make them on my birthday. Hopefully, that will give me some luck in getting the ones that I want.

Tiggerlover91, are you going to start a FB page for people going in June 2013?
We had one for June 2012, and it was great fun.

We are a family of four "Disney adults" too. Free dining would save us $1500!!!! Definitley need that over a room discount. Fingers crossed, prayers going up : )

I apologize for my long delay in replying and updating the trip page. Been busy student teaching! :goodvibes Everyone is added. If you don't see your name, it's because you said tentative and/or didn't have resorts picked out. Just let me know and I'll update.

And YES, I WILL start a facebook page. I believe if I put the link here you should be able to ask me to join. I will leave it to where anyone can be added by members, is that okay? :) Someone friend me on FB so I can get the page started. Can't do it til I have a member or two. PM for my FB name please!

No worries. How did the student teaching go? My DH talked me into going back to school, now that our DSs are older. I took the summer off, but start back tomorrow. This will be my first computer programming class. Up to now, I've taken just basic stuff. I'll just be paying the next 8 weeks for having the summer off, since I'll have 2 classes (which I'm not used to). I usually only take 1 class per 8 week session. I sent you a PM about the FB stuff.

It's official for me!!! June 8-15 Wildnerness Lodge :). First time at a Deluxe!!!

Grats!! The WL is our favorite resort so far. I could sit for days in just the lobby in front of the fire place in one of the rocking chairs and be a very happy woman.

I sent a request for the FB page, but it did not give me an option to send a note along with it! My name is Danica Canaday. Thanks for doing that!

I posted this in the resort board..but I thought I may generate more response from people going in June..I hope that is ok to double post.

Why is planning a Disney Vacation so stressful.....lol

I am attempting to plan a vacation for 8 adults (me, my husbad, my mom and dad, my brother, my two sisters, and my grandmother). I just finished planning a trip in October for myself and my husband, which was easy compared to planning this next one for June!

So my delimma lies in that this trip needs to be done on a budget but also I want it to be really special because it will probably me our last family vacation.

I have done price comparisions and I think I have a plan.

We are going to rent DVC points for an AKL Villa, Undercover tourist tickets, and dining out of pocket with TiW card...that will come to about 1000 per person. Also I have never rented points before is it easy? Should we look into trip insurance? Who do you rent with? (I was thinking David's Vacation Rentals.)

If we get two rooms at AoA it is only $50 less per person, so I think the 50 extra is worth it.

My main problem comes with discounts...What if free dining is available or a room only discount? If I rent DVC I can't change...Also with dining everyone needs to be on the same package correct? So my husband and i would need to by tickects even if we have an AP? Are discounts even available in June..It looks like we will be going June 16 to June 23.

There are just so many possibilites I don't know what to do...Would you stay value and hope for a discount or would you suck it up and stay deluxe even if the value is cheaper?

Thanks for the advice!

I could be wrong, but I don't think they have ever offered free dining in June. I went through all the dates of discounts listed since 2009 on Mousesavers.com and didn't see it. Last year there was a room only discount, which is what we used. Here's the list if you would like to look to see if I missed something. http://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/

So you shouldn't have to worry about missing a free dining promotion if you rent DVC points, but you may miss out on a room only discount. The thing to remember with the room only discount, they may not include the non-suite rooms at AoA. Also, even though it will be a discount, the values will not get as big of a discount as the mods or deluxes. It looks like the AoA standard rooms are about 17 sq ft bigger than the rooms at the Pop Century, which really isn't that much of a difference. Personally, I wouldn't stay in one with four adults. Our room at the Pop Century felt cramped with our family of 4. The DH and I are Pooh sized, our 14 yr old is 5'10", the 13 yr old is only 5", and both DSs are slim. The bathroom made me feel very claustrophobic. If you are sitting on the toilet, you can't shut (or open) the bathroom door.
Personally, I would rent DVC points. You'll have more space and you will get your own stackable washer/dryer. When I had to do laundry on our trip this last June, it would take me a minimum of an hour to do one load of laundry. That was if the stars were lined up just right and there were machines available. Then (since I'm a "paranoid freak" and refused to leave my laundry unattended by me) I had to stand the entire time b/c there was no place to sit down. While the DH was at the pool having fun with the DSs, I was standing in a laundry room. If you are in a villa, you can put a load in the washer before you leave for the parks, and put it in the dryer when you get home for the night.

If you get on a dining plan, everyone does need to be on the same package. If you and your DH have an AP, I think you just have to buy a one day ticket. I'm not totally sure on the AP part though.

How many days are you planning on being there? If you think you may have to do laundry, and to give you the extra room, I would rent DVC points. That is as long as it's in the budget. If it's going to be a budget-buster and cause the trip to not happen, staying at a value is always better than not going at all. I don't know if you've joined the FB page or not, but someone there (I know there FB name, just not their DIS name) has booked through a company called stayatWDW, and they are very happy with them. I priced out our trip with them and David's Vacation Rentals, and stayatWDW was about $200 cheaper for the week.
