*** The Official July 2014 thread, join us won't you? ***

I'm laughing......but only because I took a similar picture of our house when we got about the same amount a few weeks ago ;) Beautiful house btw!

Very funny! You have a beautiful home!! :)
I was kinda hoping for a snow day tomorrow. ( really need a mental health day lol). But it's looking like it's going to be south of us. We'll get mostly rain or no accumulation.

Thanks - I thought of posting "All Snowed In" but I thought all of you would be-friend me... :lmao:

And for the families really having to deal with the winter weather.. the comment would not be appropriate. :worship:

My mom lives north of Pittsburgh and they were saying 8-10+ inches. Schools and teachers were all making plans to be off tomorrow and they ended up only getting about 1-2 inches. They're so bummed, too!!!

I'm a little bummed too. I did my plans today bc they were calling off the snow.
If they were still calling for a lot, I was gonna take my chances and do plans tomorrow.

We'll be there from July 13-20. :cheer2:

Aw we miss you by 5 days :(

I think I am feeling a lot like you. We only have 4 park days and I want to do it all also. This is our first summer trip and I am torn between trying to spend the whole day at the parks vs. taking afternoon breaks. We never took breaks on our previous trips but we didn't have the heat and crowds to deal with.

Ditto. I have scheduled breaks for some of the days and the bonus of the summer months is that you have the longer hours to play with. It's something I missed when we stopped going Easter time because suddenly when we were there in September or October, to take a break meant you only had a few hours before having to head back out again otherwise there would be barely any time before the parks close again.

Like you, this is our first summer trip and though we have dealt with heat and we have had to face heavy crowds, we haven't had to battle both at the same time.

In spite of planning to be there for July 4th, I watched a youtube video of someone's Independence Day trip this weekend and had a sudden panic and wondered if I should skip the parks entirely that day ......

Teacher here too! This is the first school year that I have taken some long weekend trips - one in January and there is one coming up for me in May - we have lost all breaks due to the snow this winter so I'm thankful I didn't plan our trips on any of those! We like to also do an extended trip in the summer so we brave the heat for that experience... and next year we are going again in the fall for an extended trip that is tacked on to a long weekend at school! 2014 is our year of Disney and we are going to make the most of it while we can! I've been able to arrange a perfect substitute for my class for all trips this year which has helped because I know my students will get a really good education on the few days I miss... but this is my 11th year teaching and the first time that we are doing any trips like this!

I teach for an online school, so I don't get snow days. It can be a bummer at times, but not this year. I don't have to make up any days! lol

Here in Wy. we RARELY have snow days. We have had snow on the ground, temps. in the negative numbers and kids still had school. Of course we can call our kids out due to inclement weather. But, a snow here or there wouldn't hurt.:confused3

Hopefully, winter will be over soon.

:lmao: Don't Laugh - :rotfl2: We got some Snow/Ice :lmao:

Bob, what a beautiful home! We are home for another snow day. We were supposed to get 8-10 inches, but right now there is about 4. I have to say, I was sick of snow and wanted it to be done, but if it is going to snow, it better snow big...this is wimpy. Lol

I keep checking for flights that won't cost me at least double what driving does. We stay over night at about the half way point at a name brand cheap hotel with a free breakfast (gotta get my money's worth! ). My DH doesn't like to drive more than 2 hrs at a time and I can drive more than that. I tried to convince him to start at like 8pm and drive straight through the night and he was having none of that!

My kids can and do get along most of the time but when they fight, they can get crazy. It is usually my DD pushing my DS's buttons just to give herself something to do. I guess if I can give her enough to keep her occupied, we should be fine :lmao:

The money part:
the van gets like 15 miles/gallon so I would need to fill up 7 times for the entire trip costing about $497 (assuming gas is $3.55/gallon with a 20 gallon tank)
The car gets like 21.5 miles/gallon so I would need to fill up 6 times for the entire trip costing about $347 (assuming gas is #3.55/gallon with a 15 gallon tank)
Price difference is $150 dollars round trip saved by using the car. That is the difference between eating at a nice sit down TS meal and canceling one ADR. We are on a really tight budget this time which is the only reason I am not dishing out the extra money to fly there in 2 1/2 hrs.

We will be bringing some snacks and such to eat and just do fast food on the way. Our whole journey there and back including gas, hotel, food, and tolls is budgeted to be $675.

What is a girl to do???

We are for sure flying this year! We live at least 24 hours away (without stops), and the last drive we made did me in.

I haven't purchased flights yet because from what I've been reading, the "sweet spot" for prices is around 10-7 weeks from trip date. As an obsessive planner, this goes against everything in my DNA....but I'm waiting. For our family of 5 with prices at $1800 RT right now I'll hold off for hopefully a better deal.

I was secretly hoping for a snow day today, but no luck! It stayed more south than they originally though ( hitting you instead I guess)
What's one more when you already have 4 or 5.
What is limit of snow days you need to make up? I think they only require us to make up 5 days, and can't go past June 30.
Right now we are getting out June 26. That's a week later than original date.

OMG that is funny!!
We need at least a few inches before they cancel here. And even more snow in other areas that get a LOT of snow during the year.
I just really NEED spring!!! The average high temp. Here is 43 degrees.....today it was 20. :(

Our school in SC canceled for two days (twice in the last month) for about the same amount of snow. We had huge ice problems. We just don't have the facilities or equipment to salt roads and everywhere you go in the Charleston area requires you to cross a bridge! I know it might seem crazy, but there really is good reason :) Everyone was angry that our main bridge into downtown was closed for so long after the road was cleared, they reopened the bridge as the temps warmed up and GIANT chunks of ice started falling off the cables and smashing onto cars!!!

We have friends who live in Summerville SC. Is that near you?

PSA:
Do not look at you resort photos before going to bed. I had sweet dreams of arriving at AKL. I was HIGHLY disappointed when my 4AM alarm went off and I woke up in my own bed.:sad2:

Midori goes to a Catholic School so instead of closing, they have a lot of 10am starts..

I agree, I am scared of ice...
